Knauf Domed Prefabricated Member Kits Today dome-shaed ceilings can be economically built using dry construction systems. Knauf has two comlete refabricated member kits for standard domes. Both kits include all construction members required for base construction. Domes are built deending on the related construction and lanning targets. D 19 34

36 Cleaneo Acoustic Gysum Board is screwed on the metal base construction consisting of hanger and main rofiles. When desired gysum board can be manufactured with/without fiber fleece on the back sides. When required, mineral wool insulation with at least 2 mm thickness is laced between rofiles. Longitudinal corner joints are alied on Random Circular Perforated Cleaneo Acoustic Gysum Board in order to make erforations look seamless in certain ersectives and when light conditions are not suitable. Loads cannot be fixed on Cleaneo Acoustic Gysum Board directly. Dilatation Joints and Connections Dilatation joints are alied when corner lengths are more than aroximately 15 meters. Connections to other construction members and esecially to columns must be movable. Base Construction Metal base substructure is fixed to the ceiling with wire hanger or direct hanger. If acoustic ceiling load class is,15 <,3 kn/m2, sacing of hangers must be max 75 mm. Connection to concrete ceilings must be done using steel dowel and screws. Connection to ceilings consisting of other construction material is done using normed anchorage members secially ermitted as a construction material. Main rofiles are adjusted in required susension height and suitable alignment. Furring rofiles are connected to main rofiles with clis. Sacing of main channels is 1 or 85 mm and sacing of furring channels is maximum 333 mm. Coating Cleaneo Acoustic Gysum Board are laced transverse to furring channels and short edge joints are made on rofiles. Cleaneo Acoustic Gysum Board is laced in cross joints. In order to revent sagging, start screwing from the middle or the corner of gysum board. Cleaneo Acoustic Gysum Board is ushed strongly against the metal substructure while screwing. Construction and Alication Carry Cleaneo Acoustic Gysum Board using aneled trolley or in lengthwise. Sacings of substructure are determined according to the load: If acoustic ceiling load class is,15 kn/m2, sacing of hangers must be max 9 mm. 36

37 Circular Perforated Joint Technique and Surface Joint Technique Primer is alied to joints before joint filling. In sections where joint tae is not used, utty is alied manually using Knauf Uniflott. Screw heads are also filled with Uniflott. Joints are filled with Uniflott using the gun found in the mounting kit. In the meanwhile, closed holes are oened again using a suitable controller before utty is hardened. Fill the joints only when there are not high humidity and temerature change conditions. Room temerature must not be under 1 C for joint filling. As humidity revents drying and increases joint gas, flooring such as cement finish must be finished. Surface Treatment Undercoat rimer is alied to gysum board before ainting or coating. Undercoat material must be selected in accordance with the aint/ coating material to be alied later. Paint: Plastic base aints resistant to wasking and abrasion, multi color effect aint substances, oil aint, matte varnished aint, alcide resin aint, olymerization resin aint, varnished olyurathane aint (PUR), varnished eoxide aint (EP) can be alied deending on the urose of use and demand. Alcalic coating such as lime, glass and silicate base aint are not suitable for board surfaces. Silicate based aints can be used on condition that all manufacturer notices and recommendations are followed. Joints are filled with gun manually and excessive utty is removed by scratching. 37

38 Mounting Red Blue Edges can be cleaned using sandaer if required. Preferably, late's edges are cleaned of the dust and coated using Knauf Tiefengrund. For Random Perforated Knauf Cleaneo Acoustic Gysum Board There are red and blue marks on the crossing edges. When alying, lates are laced matching blue and red marks (on short and long edges). While alying Cleaneo Acoustic Gysum Board, in some of the erforated boards, hole alignment tools are used. The holes are aligned and the hole is checked visually or using a laser. Cleaneo Acoustic Gysum Board is laced uright the furring Ceiling C Profiles and without staggering cross-mounted. Screwing is started from the middle or the corner of the gysum board. SN acoustic screws must be used when mounting Knauf Cleaneo Acoustic Gysum Board. 38

39 A dry brush must be used to clean the dust at the joints. If necessary, the surface is coated again using Knauf Tiefengrund. (In order to revent dusting during installation) Note: If boards contact water, it will increase cracking risk more than removing the dust. Joints are filled with Uniflott using joint filling gun. Uniflott is alied to cut edge boards with continuous erforations using lastic head gun by slightly overflowing. It is checked if there are gas between joints after alication. Holes closed while alying joint filler on screw heads are oened again using a suitable controller before utty is hardened. Overflow is cleaned by scraing after Uniflott dries. If holes are accidentally filled in joint filling and alying utty, they are oened again using (8/18 R, 8/12/5 R, 12/2/66 R) erforation cleaners reared secifically for hole tyes. Finally, uttied and dried surfaces are made smooth using sandaer. Before aint alications, Sezialfrund undercoat is alied on Knauf Cleaneo Acoustic Gysum Board surfaces if required. Short brushed role or brush is used in coating and ainting. Note: Coating must be suitable with the aint/coating substance to be alied. 39

42 Sound Absortion Value α Sound absortion value is a value exressing the decrease in sound energy in a lace. Comlete reverberation is α =, and comlete absortion is α = 1. Mineral Wool Mineral wool is generally used in saces exected to have roerties related to fire safety and where a very high level of sound absortion in low frequency range is required. Hole Ratio of Knauf Acoustic Gysum Board Tyes In 1-15% of hole ratio, highest levels of noise absortion are achieved. In hole ratios under 1%, levels decrease in high frequencies and stay the same in low frequencies. It is the oosite in hole ratios over 15%. Acoustic Fleece Acoustic fleece alied to the back side in acoustic design ceilings is generally sufficient in terms of noise absortion. Air Pocket The distance between susended acoustic ceiling and rough ceiling has a significant role in noise absortion level. In susension heights under 1 mm, noise absortion levels tend to be in high frequencies. Large air ockets cause increase in noise absortion in low frequencies. In air ockets larger than 5 mm, only a small amount of change occurs. 42
