6 The price of pellets The current price of certified pellets in the Czech Republic is 250 /t for end-consumer. It is still possible to import pellets from eastern countries for /t (200 /t for end-consumer). It is difficult to place certified pellets with a price of over 200 /t on the Czech market. Therefore, 90 % of ENplus A1 pellets is exported.

This does not count the competition (manufacturers of building boards, etc.). The current pellet production is 160 thousand tons (80 % is A1 quality).

The most of A1 pellets is exported (80 %) Users in the Czech Republic using A1 and A2 pellets Imports of poor quality pellets from the east are consumed in the Czech Republic Users in the Czech Republic still compare the cost of heating by pellets with coal (the annual cost of heating by coal is about 70 % of cost of heating by pellets)

10 Major producers of pellets in the Czech Republic The market leader is the greatest "Czech" sawmill Mayr-Melnhof Holz in Paskov with production of about tons. The producer is crucial due to focus on Czech market. The second is Holzindustrie Chanovice in western Bohemia (Haas Fertigbau) with production of around 20,000 tons and possible extension to 50,000 tons.

11 Major producers of pellets in the Czech Republic In addition, there are about 12 Czech producers with production over 5,000 tons per year. A few dozens of small producers with capacity to 5,000 tons whose production is unstable.

13 Supply of pellets About 20 % of the pellets are supplied by trucks as bulk. The rest is supplied in 15 kg bags. The proportion of bulk pellets supplied by trucks is growing rapidly (it is driven by larger installations).

17 Conclusion Domestic producers of pellets meet the high quality ENplus A1, most of these pellets is exported. A1 pellets are for home users too expensive, coal is big competitor. Another competitor is large-scale gasification of small towns and villages. The price for natural gas is similar to the price for certified pellets. Czech manufacturers of boilers export 2/3 of its production abroad. Czech market with pellets develops slowly, is in about one-third of the long-term potential yet.
