2 President s Notes As we move into August, July has been a positive and active month for the club. We had members at the Caprock show in Slaton, a great turnout for the Farmer s market show/shine and wrapped up the month with the fund raiser for CMN. The Farmer s market show at West End was good exposure for the club and we had several new members at the show and some membership renewals. Caprock members came, along with some from other clubs, including the Corvette club. A couple of Lubbock shows ahead in August, plus several out of town events for those members that want to travel this month. We are still waiting on AIM bank to get a date for our annual delayed birthday party show/shine. We re hoping for late August, but the event may end up as late as late September or early October. Both AIM and Pollard will have our sponsorship funds to us soon. I visited with the O connell family, that I happened to see at Costco, and Jimmy is ok and improving with physical therapy. He is in the Slaton senior citizen care center and would love to have some visitors, just call ahead to check with the center. Last but not least, my son Jason will tie the knot with Jordan Scott on August 6 th. Thanks to all of you that have been a part of his growing up with the club and supported him in his various school activities and events. They will live and work in Lubbock and hopefully become active with the club once things settle down for them. See y all on August 4 th at Red Zone café. John

3 A Major Sponsor of The Lubbock Mustang Club Mike's Thoughts Hello Everyone, John covered most of what needs to be said about July and how it was a really good month for us (welcome new members!). There are several good shows out of town coming up in August, check them out elsewhere in this newsletter and on the web site for more info. The one show in town is the Garrison Benefit Car Show on August 13 th at th St. Entry fee is $20 plus a donated school supply for local kids. This show is hosted by 806 Mopar, a relatively new club here and one that came out and supported our show, so please come out if you can. We had a really good showing at the Caprock Club s show in Slaton and also at the West End Farmer s Market show last Saturday. It s really great to see the

4 various clubs here coming out to support each other. We are all in this for pretty much the same reasons, love of our cars, the fellowship and a desire to give back to our community, so I hope this trend continues. We will try to decide on a good date for our delayed Mustang Birthday Party at the meeting this Saturday. We ve been having a hard time coming up with a date that will work for us and Aimbank. I hope we can come up with something since that is such a fun event. It s a ways out, but keep in mind that we are planning to cruise to the Floydada Pumpkin Fest on October 8th. This is not just a car show and there will be something there for the whole family so please mark your calendars. Our photographer kind of fell down on the job and we didn t get that many pictures from the Farmer s Market show, but I m attaching a few.
