4 Introduction From UCTE towards ENTSO-E This Statistical Yearbook 8 is a traditional UCTE report, which is issued at a moment where UCTE has been wound up and where the new single European TSO association ENTSO-E was set-up. ENTSO-E covers a wider range of issues and a broader geographical scope (see The UCTE Statistical Yearbook brings a wide spectrum of retrospect figures on power systems of member countries like production, consumption, cross-border exchanges, network components etc. This edition, reflecting the situation in 8, only covers the former UCTE region, now the ENTSO-E continental Europe region. New data developments among all ENTSO-E members currently focus on the harmonization of data processes, data definitions and IT tools to allow soon the publication of ENTSO-E wide reports. Based on the outcome, new pan- European or regional statistical reports will be prepared for the coming years. The newly created Data Expert Group within ENTSO-E is responsible to monitor all issues related to statistical data and the related reports. What is ENTSO-E? ENTSO-E stands for European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity and it is a new association of 4 European TSOs from 34 countries, which has been effectively working since July 9 and which replaced all formerly existing TSOs associations: ATSOI, BALTSO, NORDEL, UCTE, ETSO and UKTSOA. The main goal of ENTSO-E is to prepare the European TSO world for all challenges coming from the 3 rd EU Energy Legislative Package before this is in effect. What did UCTE use to be? The Union for the Co-ordination of Transmission of Electricity (UCTE) was an association of transmission system operators in continental Europe, providing a reliable market base by efficient and secure electrical power highways. For more than fifty years UCTE had been co-coordinating a variety of technical rules and recommendations regarding the international operation of high voltage grids that all work with one heart beat : the 5 Hz UCTE frequency. The UCTE network used to grant safe electricity supply for some 5 million people in one of the biggest electrical synchronous interconnected systems worldwide. Principles of data handling, data correspondents and Data Expert Group Data Expert Group, Statistical Data Correspondents and the ENTSO-E Secretariat are in charge of statistical data in terms of methodological development, data processing and the production of various reports including this Statistical Yearbook. Basically, the statistical data is regularly collected by data correspondents of the TSO members. The data is stored in the ENTSO-E statistical database, which can be accessed directly through web-based queries or via reports published on the website. The figures indicated for various countries may differ from some other national statistics published because ENTSO-E statistics only describe that part of the electricity supply system, which concerns interconnected system operation. Consequently, this data may not represent the entire electricity supply system in some countries. A corresponding representativeness factor is provided wherever necessary. 11 Monthly values / Operation I The following information for the individual countries is presented on the next pages: Thermal nuclear net generation (national values) Fossil fuels net generation (national values) Hydraulic net generation (national values) Other renewable net generation (national values) - of which wind Non-identifiable net generation (national values) Total net electrical energy generation, calculated to represent % of the national values Physical import Physical export Total physical import/export balance, described as index.5 of the statistical Terminology Consumption of pumps National electrical consumption, calculated to represent % of the national values Consumption load at 3: a.m. on the 3rd Wednesday, calculated to represent % of the national values Consumption load at : a.m. on the 3rd Wednesday, calculated to represent % of the national values Highest load on the 3rd Wednesday, calculated to represent % of the national values Time of the highest load on the 3rd Wednesday Power produced in parallel operation on the 3rd Wednesday at : a.m. ( collected and published until year 6 ) Physical exchanges in interconnected operation: The exchanges CS, HR and SI in the year 998 are corresponded to the historical country code YUGO and SIHR. The imports/exports refer to values, that take into account the physical exchanges on the cross-frontier transmission lines, but in addition also: - exchange values on lines < kv outside of the interconnected transmission system. - on the other hand values resulting with regard to international contracts (water claim). For presenting the operation of the interconnected transmission system only interconnected transmission lines, which are registrered in these terms, are taken into consideration.
