3 Average speed enforcement in Europe According to a recent european survey (23 countries) the public support for speed enforcement is high: Three quarters (76%) of all interviewed EU drivers support increased enforcement of traffic rules Three out of five (60%) EU drivers support higher penalties for speeding offences. Two-thirds (66%) of EU drivers really or fairly much support the use of automated speed cameras This is especially true for average speed enforcement Average speed enforcement is currently being used/tested at least in 9 EU countries, such as Italy, France, UK, Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, Austria, Poland, Norway

8 High resolution camera (1) SICVe uses high resolution cameras, able to take more than 65 images per second: Cristal clear images for high speed vehicles Multiple images taken, thus improving ANPR performances Field-tested both on circuit and on road - vehicles travelling at speed up to 300 km/h

10 Radar sensor SICVe is available with a 24GHz radar sensor, non intrusive and with zero impacts on road surface. It is especially useful for every situation in which loop installation is impractical, such as bridges, tunnels, concrete pavement, especially narrow lanes, etc It is possible to use it for dual-direction installations Circuit tested up to 250 km/h: 99.9% of vehicles detected It is able to classify vehicles in 6 classes according to their speed limit, such as cars, trucks, buses, articulated lorries, car with trailers, motorcycles It can enforce instantaneous speed as well as average speed especially useful in presence of road works, for improved safety

11 ANPR SICVe uses an advanced ANPR engine, able to read plates from 28 European country, and can also identify the issuing country. 12 DATEX Data exchange SICVe can exchange traffic information, statistics, messages and analysis information with other systems using the European protocol DATEX II CEN TS It can feed statistical traffic data to road operator database; fault messages can also be sent, for logging and analysis purposes It can send to service providers real-time traffic monitoring and travel data information It uses completely separated database for statistics and enforcement statistical data are completely anonymous, so privacy absolutely guaranteed Communication is performed via web-services completely cross platform

13 Achieved results Tutor system has been massively installed since 2006 in those sections showing above-average death rate. Installation of SICVe allows, yet on the first 12 months of operation, a significant reduction of: Average speed (among all the vehicles) -15% Top speed (speed of the fastest vehicle) -25% Thus inducing a dramatic improvement on: Death rate: -51% Accident with wounded rate: -27% Accident rate: -19%

15 Achieved results Road capacity Few months after SICVe has been installed, a significant reduction in vehicle speed variance is observed (variance of speed among different vehicles); it means that the fastest vehicles slow down while the slowest accelerate, thus producing some important effects as: Improved road capacity Improved road safety
