1 ENTHUSIAST OF THE MONTH GBZ Volume 1 June 2004 Number 10 ******************************************************* This time the honour goes to none other than our very own president Stefan Nicholson, for not only making sure that the 3 rd Rally was a success, a couple of days after he drove off into the sunset to attend two Rallies in the UK with his Morgan (& Judy). We owe a special thanks to David Risso who has spent many hours communicating through the internet, and telephone. David was also responsible for much of the work going into the programme, poster and rally plaques. To add to this I had been asking him to type up letters....

2 almost everyday. Thank you to our members who have supported this rally and have helped beforehand and on the day. It was a pleasure to see casemates gradually transformed from an empty square as equipment was setup and cars began to arrive. Everyone carried out the tasks which they had volunteered to do and the day ran like a finely tuned engine. Thanks to Chris Lavers and the Marshals who now know that you can get a pint into what looks like a half-pint pot. Thanks to the security for looking after the cars and policing the event, to everyone including the ladies who helped selling regalia, raffle tickets and programmes, for the setting up of the refreshments at Camp Bay. Thank you everyone for making this an event which we can be proud of. The Police were excellent and went beyond their call of duty. By the time you read this I will probably be in England as I am leaving on Thursday 27 th May and driving the Morgan to two rallies in England. We were very successful. We finished as 154 from 375 participants, and as the "best" from Gibraltar we even have received a trophy! Please find attached a picture from the start. 4 3 rd GIBRALTAR INTERNATIONAL CLASSIC VEHICLE RALLY 22 nd May 2004 A very respectable 85+ vehicles attended the 3 rd Rally, some from as far away as Germany (1930 Ford A) and Dublin (1914 Ford Model T). The star of the show was no doubt Leonard Bone s 90 year old Ford Model T. Some never seen before local entries made local flavour dominate, J.Bassadone s E-Type and Louis Facio s Citroën DSpecial to name just a couple. FOR SALE Rover P6, 1972 Contact Hubert Corby. Contact Francis Mena on After the ride up Mainstreet at 13:30pm, a very welcoming stop was made at Camp Bay for refreshments. Then it was off for the run around the Gib eventually to park at the Naval Ground where the magnificent buffet lunch was offered at the Catholic Community Centre. Considering the rain that was falling in the rest of Spain and on the Royal wedding, we were very lucky indeed to get a scorchingly hot day indeed some divine intervention must have been made. 5 ELIO COHEN S HILLMAN SUPER MINX UPDATE Elio has indeed been a busy man. Many of you might remember when he brought the Hilman Super minx to Safeway s one Sunday in May of 2002 on the back of a trailer. Since then he got the engine running and has completed work on the bodywork. This will be going to the painters very soon and then reassembly of the car can take place along with sourcing all those final little pieces of the puzzle like sets of brake seals etc... There are great plans for this van so before we get our hands on it we would like to hear from anyone who wishes to help out to bring this modern classic back to life and back on the road. Parts, paint and TLC is all she needs but exactly in what ratio no-one knows yet. More updates as soon as we can get our hands onto it!
