1 Volume 15, Issue 6 JUNE 1, 2011 N Y - P E N N N E W S N Y - P E N N M i l i t a r y V e h i c l e C o l l e c t o r ' s C l u b I n c. A-Co. Meeting May 29th, 2011 Members present, or who were at the Norwich Car Show over the weekend: Bill Harris, Becky Whiting, Sherman Day, John Tennis, Paul Blanchett, Dick Blunden, Lorna Eaker, Mark Snyder, Jamie Darrah, Ralph Richter, Frank Fairfield and his guest his son Jonathan, Matt and Katie Magda, Leroy and Wanda Predmore, Bob and Karen Messersmith. The meeting commenced at 1308 and was conducted by 2nd VP Matt Magda as 1st VP Carl Gordon was out of town. There were no minutes from several previous meetings to discuss or approve as they have not been distributed prior to this meeting. There was no old business before the Company as well. Under NEW BUSINESS a discussion was started in regards to the timely production of minutes from the meetings and that publishing these minutes serves to not only provide a record for the activities of the Company but also to keep the other members of NYPENN in Easy Co. and Hudson Mohawk Co. apprised of our activities. It was stated that this serves to help promote unity in the club as well. It was pointed out that someone from the company should be appointed solely to act as secretary for the meetings to produce the minutes. Becky Whiting moved that this be our Company's policy. John Tennis seconded and the entire group present voted to enact such a policy and Becky Whiting has volunteered to take on this responsibility. The upcoming Fort Drum event was discussed at length with many members present committing to attending the event. The convoy up to the event on Friday was discussed and a general operating plan was conceived for those who will be travelling from the Binghamton area on north to the base along Rt 12. John Tennis mentioned that the Easy Co, route would likely be along either Rt 11 or 3 and we would not be able to join with them until very close to the entrance we are to use at the base. A discussion was held regarding rally points where members will join up and John Tennis will act as 'pathfinder' in the lead once the convoy is north of Utica and Becky Whiting is acting as convoy coordinator to keep everyone in the loop as to planning and any changes. A cell phone number list is being generated for convoy members so any problems can be passed along quickly. A deeper discussion of the convoy will be placed in a separate section of the JUNE newsletter. (Requirements to enter the base are Photo ID, Driver's license, Insurance Card & registration if applicable, as well as inspection. This is SOP for anyone driving onto the base. Mark Snyder Inquired if the "trail ride" at Fort Drum will be offered on Sunday, and Becky Whiting will find out and pass this information along. (The trailride will be held ONLY on Sat. Ed.) Rob Pearson's collection is being dispersed by a friend of Rob and Linda's and must be removed from the property fairly soon. There still is a lot of equipment and parts at Dave Pozzi's and this needs to be moved along. What is not sold will be scrapped. There still is a 5 ton wrecker and several trailers as well as parts, tires wheels and canvas. Contact Brant Messer if you are interested. Up Coming Meetings: It was decided to hold a A-Co meeting at Fort Drum in Sunday June 19th at 1300 or thereabouts depending on activities on site. On the third of July there is a NYPENN CLUB ANNUAL PICNIC and MEETING at Lorna Eaker's in Van Hornesville NY. With the day that follows being a holiday it is hoped that many members will travel to Lorna's for this meeting and it is honestly a great place for a meeting. Discussion about the logistics of hosting a club wide meeting at a private residence ensued and Lorna pointed out that that this many people at one gather- PAGE 1

2 V o l u m e 1 5, I s s u e 6 P a g e 2 ing really requires a porta-potty to accommodate the guests in attendance. It was discussed that having Lorna obtain all the meats for the BBQ is best as it would ensure that they will be properly stored and kept until cooking. Following a discussion it was moved that the Company request that the Board of Directors authorize and issue a payment of $200 to cover the expenses to put on this event. Motion was made by Bill Harris and seconded by Leroy Predmore and was passed by all present. It is suggested to bring a dish to pass around. Contact Lorna if you have any questions August we will meet at Frank Fairfield's and September s meeting will be in Windsor. Dates to be set at the next meeting of A-Co. Mark Snyder announced that there is a June rally of Willys Jeeps in Lansford PA "Great Willys Meet" for those who might be interested. Also he is aware of an M715 for sale that is solid but needs work, and people should contact Mark directly for information. Comvec June 11th in Chester CT is coming up and several members will be attending. No further business was brought and Becky Whiting moved we adjourn and Frank Fairfield seconded and it was voted and carried. at 1410 NYPENN Treasurer s report for May 31st 2011 The balance at the end of the month reflects the payment of the Post Office Box fee for the year and the receipt of 4 member s dues.
