3 IN Accessories Sensor Systems Inductive Proximity Switches Inductive proximity switches Inductive proximity switches are used to scan the current status of automation components. SCHUNK supplies them in two versions - IN (sensor with 30 cm molded cable and cable connector) and INK (sensor with 2m supply cable and wire strands for connecting). Description of function Inductive proximity switches produce a high-frequency alternating magnetic field with their oscillator coil. This field emerges on the active surface of the sensor. If a metal object enters the field, it draws energy from the magnetic field, thus reducing the oscillation amplitude. This change is detected and the sensor trips. 23 MMS/MZN Accessories Sensor Systems Magnetic Switches Magnetic switches Magnetic switches are used to monitor the status of automation components. They detect the approach of a magnet without contact and switch through their output above a particular switching threshold. Description of function Magnetic switches react to magnetic fields. The resistors in the sensor are made up of several ferro-magnetic and non-magnetic layers. Two screened and two unscreened resistors are combined in a bridge circuit, so that the presence of a magnetic field produces a large signal in proportion to the magnetic field. Above a threshold, an output signal is connected by a comparator and the sensor responds.
