Basic safety notes 2.6 Using personal protective equipment When using this product, observe the relevant industrial safety regulations and use the personal protective equipment (PPE) required! Use protective gloves, safety shoes and safety goggles. Observe safe distances. Minimal safety requirements for the use of equipment. 2.7 Notes on particular risks Generell gilt: Remove the energy supplies before installation, modification, maintenance, or adjustment work. Make sure, that no residual energy remains in the system. Do not move parts by hand when the energy supply is connected. Do not reach into the open mechanism or the movement area of the module. 11 Basic safety notes WARNING Risk of injury from objects falling and being ejected The danger zone must be surrounded by a safety fence during operation. WARNING Risk of injury when the machine/system moves unexpectedly due to failure of the energy supply or malfunction of the controller. WARNING Risk of injury due to rotating components! Avoidance: The danger zone must be surrounded by a safety fence during operation. WARNING Risk of injury due to loosened parts and destruction of the swivelling unit due to damaged shock absorbers! Avoidance: Regular inspection of the individual components on wear and damage. WARNING Note that suitable emergency-off strategies (e.g. controlled shut down) and restarting strategies (e.g. pressure build-up valves, appropriate valve switching sequences) are needed for all pneumatic actuators. Cutting off the pressure in an uncontrolled manner could lead to undefined states and behavior SRH-plus en 11

Installation 6.4 Sensors The module is prepared for the use of the sensors IN 80 and MMS 22. If you require further information on sensor operation, contact your SCHUNK contact person or download information from our homepage. Technical data for the sensors can be found in the data sheets (included in the scope of delivery) Magnetic switch MMS 22 The magnetic switches can be mounted via four grooves in the module housing. The setting of the switching positions must be done as follows: 1 Turn the unit to the required swivel angle. 2 Push the magnetic switch into the groove. 3 Move the magnetic switch along the groove until it actuates. 4 Secure the magnetic switch. (see enclosed data sheet) 5 Check the switch position of the magnetic switch by swiveling the module repeatedly. NOTE We recommend the use of four magnetic switches to monitor the locked center position: One sensor each to monitor the two limit positions For monitoring approach to the center position from end position 0 For monitoring approach to the center position from end position SRH-plus en

Installation Inductive proximity switch with external thread M8 Fig. 6 Connection example for IN 80 1 brown 2 black 3 blue Types that can be ordered (see catalog): IN 80-S-M8 (switching function: closer) IN 80-S-M12 (switching function: closer) The inductive proximity switch used has reverse polarity protection and is short-circuit-proof. For the proper use of the proximity switch, observe the following: Do not pull on the cable of the sensor. Do not dangle the sensor from the cable. Do not excessively tighten the mounting screw or clips. Keep within the permissible bending radius of the cable (see catalog data). Prevent proximity switch from coming into contact with hard objects or with chemicals; in particular, nitric, chromic or sulfuric acid SRH-plus en 19

Installation Assembly of the proximity switches The inductive proximity switch is an electronic component which can be sensitive to high-frequency interference or electromagnetic fields. Check that the cable is correctly connected and installed. There must be sufficient distance between the switches and sources of interference and their supply cables. Parallel switching of multiple sensor outputs of the same design (npn, pnp) is permissible, though this does not increase the permissible load current. Please note that the leakage current of the individual sensors is accumulative (by about 2 ma). NOTICE When swiveling, ensure that the switch cams do not collide with the sensors. Fig. 7 Attachment of inductive proximity switches SRH-plus en

Installation 1 Fasten retaining plate (7) to the housing of the SRH-plus with the screws (5). 2 Fasten bracket (2) to the retaining plate with the screws (5). 3 Push the proximity switch all the way into the bracket (2) and clamp it in this position with the screw (1). 4 Attach screw (4) to the distributor plate (6) and secure it with the counter nut (3). Fine adjustment of the bracket (2) 1 Undo the screws (1) of the first bracket just a bit. Adjust the bracket (2) in such a way that the sensor responds. Re-tighten the screws (1). 2 Swivel SRH-plus by Undo the screws (1) of the second bracket just a bit. Adjust the bracket (2) in such a way that the sensor responds. Retighten the screws (1). 4 Check the setting by swiveling the module several times. (If need be, repeat steps 1 to 3.) SRH-plus en 21
