2 Condenser Fan Pak: Installation and Wiring Guide p The purpose of this document is to illustrate the recommended field wiring and segregation of the different circuits within the Condenser Fan Pack (CFP). p The CFP shown in this document has 8 condenser fans/circuit (CFP Size 2). This is representative for all CFP panel installations. Your CFP may have fewer condenser fans/circuit than shown. p For illustration purposes, in this document only, different conductor colors are used to illustrate the different field-wired circuits within the CFP and the segregation needed between these different circuits: Blue Circuit #1 (VFD #1) motor load circuits Red Circuit #2 (VFD #2) motor load circuits Orange Bypass Circuit #1 (from OEM chiller panel) Black Bypass Circuit #2 (from OEM chiller panel) Yellow cables Supplied refrigerant sensor cables Gray cable Supplied outdoor air temperature sensor cable 2

3 Step 1: Carefully plan and layout the conduit entries into the bottom of the CFP panel and stagger the conduit entry hole penetrations (see Figure 1, Figure 2, and Figure 3) to enable: a. the most direct wiring to the respective field wired components within the CFP b. segregation of the different circuits c. installation of the electrical conduits The CFP Size 2 (free-standing) enclosure has a removable conduit entry plate. Refer to the CFP User Manual for complete installation instructions. For electrical wiring, refer to the CFP electrical schematic provided with the CFP for instructions and details. 3

5 Step 2: Wire the condenser fan motors for Circuit #2 (VFD #2 circuit). These circuits are at the rear of the CFP Size 2 panel. a. Remove terminal cover of motor overload relay by inserting a screwdriver into one of the openings of the overload terminal cover and pushing the terminal cover away from the overload relay (see Figure 4 and Figure 5). b. Cut the field wiring to the required length and insert conductors underneath the respective terminal clamp (see Figure 6). c. Support the back side of motor overload with your fingers while tightening terminal screw (see Figure 7). d. Reinstall motor overload terminal cover. 5

Step 3: Complete the field wiring for the remaining motor overloads of Circuit #2 (VFD #2). For illustration purposes, Red conductor wiring is used for the Circuit #2 motor loads.

7 Step 3: Complete the field wiring for the remaining motor overloads of Circuit #2 (VFD #2). For illustration purposes, Red conductor wiring is used for the Circuit #2 motor loads. p Terminate the motor load ground conductors to the isolated ground bar designated VFD2 MTR GND. p Bundle the wiring of each motor circuit with tie-wraps and segregate the circuits (see Figure 8). Step 4: Route CFP power input supply wiring up along the right

p Cut the power wiring to the required length and terminate to

p Terminate the supply ground wire to the main ground bar GND1.

(see Figure 9, Figure 10, Figure 11, and Figure 11a).

8 Step 4: Route CFP power input supply wiring up along the right side wall of the CFP. p Cut the power wiring to the required length and terminate to the respective circuit breaker input terminals. p Terminate the supply ground wire to the main ground bar GND1. p Route, bundle, and secure wiring in place with tie-wraps (see Figure 9, Figure 10, Figure 11, and Figure 11a). 9 Step 5: Wire the condenser fan motors for Circuit #1 (VFD #1 circuit). These circuits are at the front of the CFP panel (see Figure 12). For illustration purposes, Blue conductor wiring is used for the Circuit #2 motor loads. Follow the same procedure as in Step 2 and Step 3. For Circuit #1 (VFD #1), terminate the motor load ground conductors to the isolated ground bar designated VFD1 MTR GND. Figure 12 9

10 Step 6: If the CFP has the Bypass option, wire the Bypass Circuit #2 conductors to the respective Bypass Circuit #2 terminal strip (see Figure 13). For illustration purposes, Orange conductor wiring is used for the Bypass Circuit #2 circuits. Figure 13 10

11 Step 7: If the CFP has the Bypass option, wire the Bypass Circuit #1 conductors to the respective Bypass Circuit #1 terminal strip (see Figure 14). For illustration purposes, Black conductor wiring is used for the Bypass Circuit #1 circuits. Route and bundle the Bypass conductors with tie-wraps to provide segregation from all other circuits. 12 Step 8: The CFP may be provided with either two or four refrigerant sensors and cables, depending on chiller application. p Route the provided sensor cables through the provided cable glands. p Wire the Outdoor Air (Gray cable) and Refrigerant (Yellow cables) sensors to the respective terminals of the sensor terminal strip TSCNT (see Figure 15). p Route and bundle the sensor cables with tie-wraps to provide segregation from all other circuits (see Figure 16). p Tighten the cable gland fittings. 12

14 Step 9: Clean all debris from the bottom of the CFP. Bundle and secure circuit conductors with tie-wraps as needed to position and segregate circuits from all other circuits within the CFP (see Figure 17, Figure 18, and Figure 19). Figure 17 14
