LOUIS ====================================== KEEPING THE TRADITION ALIVE Co-Sponsored by Museum of Transportation and the Mustang Club of St. Louis The weather couldn t have been better for the 2nd annual Mustang Roundup and over 113 Mustangs at the Museum of Transportation. The Mustang Club of St. Louis had an overwhelming response of members to help co-sponsor the event and had over 70 cars alone to represent the c l u b. M C S T L j u n i o r activity directors, Zach and Livvy McDonough, hosted the childrens activities for the day and did an awesome job overseeing the pinewood derby races on the track donated by Charlie Nahlik as well as the Flat Stanley program. Matchbox Mustangs and Mustang suckers were handed out to all of the kids who attended. M C S T L m e m b e r s a l s o participated in Museum s T r a d i n g C a r d Program where members placed a cling plaquard on their cars to identify them as a participant of the Trading Card Program. The idea is to provide kids w i t h information about each c a r a n d promote cars as a hobby. Thank you goes to Terry Hunter for organizing the ordering of the trading cars for the club. Tickets for a Mustang quilt which will be raffled at the car show on June 18th were on sale and the club was thrilled to welcome our new members who turned in their applications. 2 PRESIDENT S POINTS Hello Everyone I m not sure where to start this month because of all the different activities we have had going on. For the month of April our club participated in no less than 5 different events. It all started with the Mustang Roundup on April 2 nd at the Museum of Transportation and ended with Shelbyfest 5 in Hermann, Missouri. In between these two events we celebrated the Mustang s 47 th birthday on April 17th with a great lunch at Ethyl s Smokehouse followed by dessert at Fritz s Frozen Custard. Next we had a great dinner at the Highway 61 Roadhouse in Webster Groves on April 25 th where we picked up our movie passes and T-Shirts for Fast Five. The next night on April 26 th we made our way to the Great Escape theatre for the pre-release showing of Fast Five. There was a great amount of participation for all five of these events so I guess we must be doing something right. Hats off to the Activities Committee on getting everything setup. As we head into the month of May and hopefully away from all this rain we won t be slowing down too much. There are quite a few different events planned so check the club calendar section on the website or the event section in this newsletter. Our 2 nd Annual Car Show on June 18 th is fast approaching and we still have quite a bit of work to do. We re still looking for class sponsors, attendance prizes and goody bag items so if you can help in any of those areas please let me know. Page 2 We ll also need everybody to help in all areas of the show this year. We have a couple of new things added to this year s show that will hopefully draw more kids and their parents to attend. The Flat Mustang project area will be in full swing along with the pinewood derby track. These two activities were very popular at the Mustang Roundup in early April. From what I have heard from the Museum of Transportation there have been a lot of inquiries about our car show. Hopefully we ll be able to fill up the lower lot with a lot of nice Mustangs and Fords of all make and models. The lower lot holds approximately 250 cars. That would be quite a sight to behold. Membership in the club continues to grow every month at a nice pace. Speaking of pace it looks like John and Pam Pace will be heading back to the Dittmer area by the middle of this month. It will be good to have them back in the stable if you know what I mean. Everyone keep up the good work as we continue to move forward and grow. We are fast becoming known as a club that gets things done. We look forward to having a lot of participation and support from the other Ford clubs and fans in the area and across the country. Till next month..keep the Tradition Alive!! Mike Herbert President MCSTL

In celebration, 17 cars from the MCSTL met at Ethyl s Smokehouse in O Fallon, MO to have welcomed the Mustang Club of St. Louis to their game room. lunch. The owner and his staff were v e r y hospit able a n d Following a wonderful lunch, the club couldn t resist taking advantage of the beautiful spring day, dropped their tops and cruised a short distance down Highway K to Fritz s Frozen Custard to continue the birthday party. The partying Mustangs and their owners drew so much attention that several new members were initiated into t h e p o n i e s display and the club in the parking lot.

5 Page 5 FAST FIVE PREVIEW April 25-26, 2011 The MCSTL was invited to the Highway 61 Roadhouse in We b s t e r fo r dinner on April 25 to participate in a promotion for the opening of the movie Fast Five by a local agency. 6 Page 6 SHELBYFEST- Hermann April 30, 2011 Shelbyfest 2011 was the fifth year for the car show held in Hermann, MO honoring the Shelby Mustang but showcasing all Mustang models. In 2008, MCSTL was one fo the sponsors and helped work the event. This year the weekend included the car show, supercharger installs, dyno and autocrossing events and all proceeds were donated to the Make A Wish Foundation and was a beautiful day despite the last few years of rain. Rich Johnston writes: Shelbyfest in Hermann, MO this year was another success with fantastic cars! However, the icing on the cake is the people you meet and speak with at these cruises. We were lucky enough to meet Tina and Steven Craven. She fell in love with my 2010 Grabber Blue convertible and asked if she could have her pic in it. As we got to talking we found out their son, Ryan, is presently serving our country in Afganistan. It was Ryan s wish that his parents drive his Mustang to Hermann for the Shelbyfest. As you can see, Ryan, they honored your request because they love you very much! And from ALL of us from the Mustang Club of St. Louis, we want to say Thank You Ryan for serving our country proudly! You are in our prayers to come home safely. If you or your parents see this, please contact me as I will make sure you have a sponsored honorary membership to cover your tour of duty. God Bless! SURPRISE!!! Chris Morgan was successful in planning and maintaining a Surprise 40th birthday party for his wife and MCSTL member, Vickie Morgan on April 9 t h. MCSTL members enjoyed the drive to Bethalto and the spectacular spread of food a n d of course birthday c a k e. H a p p y Birthday Vickie.

7 Page 7 SHELBY DROPS THE ROOF, PILES ON THE PAINT Interestingly, due to a shortage of 5.0 Mustangs from Ford, Shelby said that it built fewer GT350s than it expected in 2011 so perhaps those will be the ones to own in years to come. If you re interested in being the first and probably only on your block to own a brand-new Shelby GT350 coupe or convertible, contact the Shelby American sales de part men t at , or g o t o If you can t afford the car, you can at least download the brochure. Shelby American announced last week that it will build a limited number of GT350 convertibles a first since 1970 and that it will offer GT350s in two new colors, Race Red and Kona Blue; both with white LeMans stripes. Production of the GT350s intentionally mirrors the way production of the original G.T.350 began. In 1965, Shelby rolled out G.T.350 coupes, all in white with blue stripes. In 1966, Shelby built four convertibles and broadened the color palette. Last year, we brought back the GT years after it was launched, said Carroll Shelby. They look and sound just like the ones we built in We re repeating history by offering two additional colors and building a few convertibles for the second year of production. The plan is to build just 350 of the 2012 GT350 convertibles, in an effort to keep the cars exclusive. The naturally aspirated package starts at $26,995 (that s on top of the cost of a new Mustang GT coupe or convertible) while the supercharged package sells for $33,995. The packages are essentially carryovers from the 2011 model year: 430hp for the base car and supercharged versions worth 525hp or 624hp. An automatic transmission is optional with the normally aspirated engine, as well as a short-throw shifter for the manual. The convertible will offer a light bar, while other options include a one-piece driveshaft and color-coordinated billet aluminum engine cap set. Interestingly, due to a shortage of 5.0 Mustangs from Ford, Shelby said that it built fewer GT350s than it expected in 2011 so perhaps those will be the ones to own in years to come.
