LOUIS KEEPING THE TRADITION ALIVE ====================================== 2 5 PRESIDENT S POINTS April has finally arrived and spring has sprung. It won t be long now before the cruising and car show season will be in full swing. We have quite a few events coming up in the next couple of months. I sure hope everyone is ready to get going. It s only 2 weeks away before we head out to Birmingham, Alabama for the 45 th anniversary celebration at Barber Motorsports Park. For those of you that are going don t forget to bring your fire extinguisher with you. This is a requirement of the MCA that all participants have one when entering the show grounds. The following week is the 3 rd annual Shelbyfest in Hermann, MO that starts on Friday evening, April 24th at Gateway International Raceway. This will be held in conjunction with Midnight Madness which is always a huge success. The car show and display event will be on Saturday, April 25 th in Hermann. Watch the website for additional info on our participation. We had an excellent turnout at the March meeting with 35 members in attendance. There was a lot on interaction amongst the club members and everyone seemed to have a good time. Two new members were in attendance, Danny Nelson and Frank Somers. Welcome to the club!!! Anyone having any suggestions or ideas on planning future events please contact our activities coordinators, Sandy Schneider and Walter Floretta. We re always looking for different things to do. We ll be planning another breakfast get together in the near future and possibly a cruise to one of the area caves. Linda is checking on that now. Sharon still needs articles for the newsletter so please remember to send her anything you have. Don t forget about the classifieds either. There s plenty of space to add anything you might be needing to sell or buy. In closing, don t forget this month s meeting is at Syberg s (Dorsett location) on Thursday, April 9 th at 7:00pm. 3 SUPER SNAKE AND TERLINGUA PRODUCTION RAMP UP Submitted By: Mike Herbert The Super Snake post-title packages, are designed to further enhance the Ford Shelby GT500 s styling, handling, and performance. Customers bring their GT500 to the factory and choose from several engine tuning option packages, including a warranted 605 HP V8 to over 725 HP (unwarranted). Each model year, only 1,000 total Super Snakes will be built. Each vehicle receives a Shelby serial number and is documented in the official factory registry. We ve added several new assembly lines and trained the KR production team to build Super Snakes and Terlingua Racing Team cars, added Gary Davis, vice president of production. Significant performance and striking visual enhancements, are what can be found with the Terlingua Racing Team package for the V6 Mustang. The handling and braking capabilities, are notably enhanced as well, and like the Shelby GT500 Super Snake program, There are several Terlingua Racing Team package options to choose from. 4 MAKING THE APRIL 16TH DEADLINE Will the 66 Be Ready to Roll? Nahlik s 66 Restore Project 3 1/2 weeks from Birmingham and here are pics from yesterday's progress on the 66's engine. Got it painted and some major parts back on. Still need to do the spark plugs and wires on one side, the exhaust manifolds, carburetor and misc other little stuff and then it will be going back in. Hopefully that will happen on March 22, 2009.

5 15 YEAR OLD MUSTANG IS STILL WOMAN S TRUE LOVE DEAR TOM AND RAY: I have a fairly beat-up 1994 Mustang GT 5.0 convertible. It was made the last year they made the 5.0 in the newer, more curvaceous body style. Through childhood, I was a car girl and a Mustang enthusiast. So when it came time for me to buy my first car out of college in 1995, I could not help but stop to look at the slightly used, hunter-green, beige topped, leather interior 5.0 that was on the lot. I fell in love with it at first sight and was totally hooked when the dealer let me take it home for a few days. He (the car) was a rock. He was an island. Driving that bad boy was paradise. Still is. Although after years of great times, and many summers and winters in Chicago, I had to sideline him in After 10 years, he became a little unreliable starting on cold mornings, and the rear window popped away from the convertible top. Anyway, I say sidelined because I bought a new Toyota Solara without trading him in. Since then, I have burdened my boyfriend (now my unsympathetic husband), my parents and several friends by begging for a cozy and dry garage in which to park my baby. I ve put new brakes on, kept the oil changed and kept the oil changed and drove it on occasional summer days when a working top was unnecessary. Driving that car still feels great! My favorite top down driving CD is always loaded and he is ready to go whenever I am. So, my dilemma: The Solara is going to be paid off soon. Woo hoo! I see the newly freed up cash as an opportunity to finally shower my very deserving old buddy with some much needed TLC and get him back into shape. My husband sees keeping the car and spending any money on it as a complete waste of time and cash. I m concerned about what will happen to our relationship if I start spending any real cash on fixing up the car. I estimate $3,000-$4,000 would go a long way toward bringing him back to his former glory. New top, fix an oil leak, bang out some dents, new paint-basically, a day at the spa (something I don t do for myself!) Am I wrong? Am I having a problem letting go? I mean, when I met my husband, he thought I looked hot in that bad boy with the top down! Do you think he could be jealous? Is he being too frugal? I question my husband s love for me, since he seems unable to understand how important this is to me! In need advice and family counseling that only you guys can offer. Please help. Cynthia and her beloved bad-boy Mustang Cynthia, one of the keys to a healthy marriage is maintaining a balance between you guys as a couple and each one of you as individuals. Together, you need to make joint decisions about crucial issues, like where to live, how to raise your children and whether you should get HBO and Showtime, or just HBO. But there has to be room in the marriage for each of you to be yourself, too. And we can tell from this letter that this 94 Mustang is part of who you are. Right. So, while it s possible for your husband, or even me, to say that it s run its course and fixing it would be a waste of time of money-and be correctdriving this car makes you happy. And if your husband is half the man we think he is, he ll realize that your happiness is a bargain at a few thousand bucks. Right. It took a house a car and half my assets (twice) to make MY first two wives happy. So, explain to him that yu know it s impractical, but it s important to you, and it makes you happy. And if that doesn t work, cut a deal and tell him he can get his Powermatic Model horsepower woodworking lathe for the basement.

This group of people will provide an avenue for the exchange of ideas and information about the care and maintenance of America s most popular pony car. The club holds monthly meetings and additional social events throughout the year. The $20.00 annual dues include a monthly newsletter, Unbridled, free classified advertising in the newsletter, an invitation to all club activities, and the friendship of a great group of people with a common interest in all Ford Mustangs.
