Daylight Savings Time change was March 12 and with that, we all know the cars will be coming out of hibernation shortly. The days are getting longer and the weather is getting warmer! Now's the time to check the batteries, check the tires, look at the fluids and maybe start it (garage door open of course). At the rate we are going for weather I would not be surprised if there were a couple classics sitting at the April meeting- possibly the first time out or the 10th time for the fortunate. See you all at the April meeting, which is on the 12th at 6pm. May 10th meeting is from 6pm till 8pm, at the Rock N Wash. Events/ Garage Tours Soda Jerks fun night, April 29th at 6:30pm Another fun filled evening with the group. Get great food, have a few laughs, and above all enjoy yourself. Address: 7231 Winterburn Rd, in Edmonton Pro Stock Shop Tour, April 22nd at 11am Garage Tour over at Pro Stock: Engine builder performance machine shop and dyno room, parts supplier and a big supporter of all motorsports. Come by and check out what they can do for you. Pro Stock is located at Ave. See you there! Garage Tour The March Garage tour was unfortunately cancelled. However, we will reschedule it at a later date, apologies to all members.

Swap Meets The Season opener for Swap meets was also held that weekend. A few members went down to Red Deer for the annual one put on by Quick Times magazine. Deals were made and people are happy.

The first annual Edmonton and area Charity Swap meet is April 15th over at the Millennium Place in Sherwood Park. 8am till 4pm, brought to you by the 567 club.

Capital Region Swap meet is on April 1st, at the Stony Plain Pavilion, Ave. Stony Plain, 9am till 4pm. The first annual Edmonton and area Charity Swap meet is April 15th over at the Millennium Place in Sherwood Park. 8am till 4pm, brought to you by the 567 club. Car Shows Cruise Calendar is out, either pick it up at a sponsors shop/store, or you can grab it in PDF over at cruisecalendar.ca. A big shout out to the members of that organization that compiled everyone's shows into a easy to read source. It's the start of car show season; with that you might have just bought a car and may not know what to do for registering it. There are a couple options: Standard plates? Vintage plates? or Antique Plates? Spencer Cordingley and John Van Ginkel talked to two registry places. Spencer talked to AMA while John talked to In and Out. What we have found is that if you decide to run the current license plate we all know and love, it is a straight forward process to register the classic.

3 However if you are going to use a dated plate it will be registered as a unit number to the antique plate you will get. This means you can run the dated plate but keep the antique plate in the vehicle, easily accessible if you get stopped by the police as they will only see the plate as a unit number. Proper documentation is a plus! Below is information directly out of the Alberta traffic Safety Act/ Operators licensing and vehicle control regulation section: Antique motor vehicle plates 65(1) The Registrar shall issue a licence plate that has antique on it if the Registrar issues a certificate of registration for an antique motor vehicle. (2) Despite subsection (1), if the owner produces a licence plate that was issued in Alberta, in the year an antique motor vehicle was manufactured and that is in a condition satisfactory to the Registrar, the Registrar may approve the use of that plate on the antique motor vehicle. (3) The owner of a motor vehicle registered as an antique motor vehicle may attach either the antique licence plate issued under subsection (1) or a licence plate approved under subsection (2) to the antique motor vehicle, but not both. (4) A person may, with the consent of the Registrar, transfer the licence plate issued under subsection (1) to another antique motor vehicle. (5) Both an antique motor vehicle and its licence plate approved under subsection (2) may be transferred to a new owner with the approval of the Registrar. Vintage Plates 66: Despite section 70(2), the owner of a motor vehicle that is 25 years old or older and registered as a private passenger vehicle may attach to the front of it one, but not more than one, licence plate issued in Alberta in the year in which the vehicle was manufactured. Location of plates 70(2) The owner of a vehicle that has a licence plate shall not display on the vehicle (a) any other vehicle plate or device bearing numbers or letters or both that are identical to or have the general appearance of a licence plate, or (b) a vehicle plate issued by a competent authority of any other jurisdiction, unless the display is required by this Regulation or by the laws of the jurisdiction that issued the plate. Future Business -Autorama Show put on by the St. Albert Cruisers, need some boots on the ground (volunteers) for their car show May 24th. Please contact Jason or Ed if you can help out.

Please contact Jason for the S2 Auto and Ed for the Memorial High School events. -Need a party of volunteers to go finish up a project car for a member. -Members who do not have the Crosstown/ Grove Dodge numbers are asked to see Spencer at the end of each meeting to have the decal put onto their membership cards. -All past due members are no longer receiving the newsletter or updates from the club until they become a paid member. -May 20th is Soda Jerks Fun night over at the Winterburn Location. 6:30-9pm. -We require garage tour suggestions for May 27th. Do any members have an idea of where they would like this tour to take place? - any member that has a company or service to provide to other members, we would like to create a directory on the website, for members helping other members. please send info to John Van Ginkel or Spencer Cordingley. -Next Meeting May Rock & Wash 6am till 8pm. Club Spotlight/ Ramblings Edmonton Sports Car Club We are a unique club with great members and unique cars! All Sports cars are acceptable in the Club whether they are mint stock, personalized, radically customized, restored, well used or replicated. The cars are the real members and they have just as many personalities as their owners have. Mechanical and restoration excellence is encouraged even though concourse events are seldom held. A rusty 70 Sprite and the kid that owns it, loves it and drives it, is as important to the club as the fortunate member who buys a pristine restored Sports Car to tow to a show, but both are welcome, as each has something to contribute. Membership is open to all who love or hate, who own or aspire to own Classic Sports Cars. It is dedicated to what we consider classic windin- the -face, top-down motoring! We even recognize coupes. We ask only that every member thrill to a crisp shift at the top end of the R.P.M. scale, tingle to a staccato exhaust note on a still fall day and have an on-going love affair with the sports car. Meetings are held the third Wednesday of the Month except for the month of December, at the Royal Alberta Museum, AVENUE, EDMONTON ALBERTA, CANADA.
