ALWAYS stop engine, remove key, wait for moving parts to stop and remove wire from spark plug before adjusting or servicing. SHARP EDGES CAN CUT BODY PARTS. 2 DISASSEMBLING THE MOWER LIFT WARNING: AVOID INJURY. Mower lift arms and mower lift pedal could cause severe injury if the lift assist spring is not disconnected before disconnecting the lift links. Springs store energy. Keep body parts well away from pinch points when removing the deck. Mower Lift Arm Pin 1. Support the mower deck on blocks or jack stands before disconnecting links from mower lift arms to prevent the deck from falling.. Raise the deck to the transport position and disconnect the lift assist springs from the mower lift arms on each side of the deck. See Figure. 3. Slowly lower the deck to its lowest position. 4. Loosen rear mounting hardware. See Figure. 5. Remove and discard front mounting hardware from mower lift arm, and lift link. See Figure. 3 9. Place pedal assembly in vice and remove trunnion nut from trunnion. Retain trunnion, trunnion nut, and spring adjust bolt for installation of actuator. See Figure 5. Trunnion Nut Trunnion Spring Adjust Bolt INSTALLING ELECTRIC LIFT 1. Remove two bolts and two washers from height of cut (HOC) housing and use removed hardware to loosely install two J-clamps (item ). See Figure 6.. Remove rear lower stop bracket mounting bolt, located forward of the fuel tank, and use to install one J-clamp. See Figure 6. HOC Bolts and Washers Figure 5 Figure A 4/14 Page 3 of 8

4 3. Remove existing HOC mounting hardware and discard. Install two HOC mounting pins (item ) and two 3/4" hex bolts (item 14). See Figure Install one 3/8" center lock flange nut (item 15) on each 3/4" hex bolts. See Figure Figure 7 Figure 9 4. Raise lift arm and align actuator mounting bracket (item 1) with both HOC mounting pins and 3/4" hex bolts. See Figure Place one 1 1/4" retaining ring (item 18) on front deck lift weldment (item 19). See Figure Figure 14 1 Figure 8 7. Slide front deck lift weldment through the front hole on the HOC mounting arm. 8. Secure the front deck lift weldment to the HOC mounting arm by placing one 1 1/4" retaining ring (item 18) and one 3/4" nut (item 15) on the weldment s shaft. See Figure A 4/14 Page 4 of 8

5 Figure Using 1/ x 1 1/" round head square neck bolt (item 3) and 1/" center jam locking nut (item 7) connect mower lift link to front deck weldment (item 19). See Figure 1.. Loosely place existing trunnion, trunnion nut, and spring adjust bolt on front deck weldment. See Figure Figure 1. Slide actuator pin (item 8) through the inside of front deck lift weldment, through the hole in the deck lift arm, and through the mounting hole in the front of the actuator. See Figure 14.. Secure actuator pin with retaining ring (item 9). See Figure Actuator Mounting Hole Spring Adjust Bolt Trunnion Trunnion Nut Figure Secure actuator (item 5) to actuator mounting bracket (item 1) with 1/ x 1/4" hex bolt (item 6) and 1/" center locking nut (item 4). See Figure. Figure 14 IMPORTANT: NEVER secure wires to fuel lines, positive (+) battery cables, moving parts, surfaces that become hot during operation, sharp edges, or pinch points. Make sure cable ties do not cut or crimp wires. 14. Rotate the J-clamps upward on the HOC housing. Place actuator wire in J-clamp and tighten J-clamp mounting bolts. See Figure A 4/14 Page 5 of 8

6 18. Leaving the purple and black wires out, route the remainder of the wire harness under the frame and place in previously installed J-clamps. Tighten J-clamp mounting bolt. Connect wire harness to actuator wire. See Figure 17. Actuator Wire Figure Move operator seat forward into service position. 16. Remove and retain hardware from control panel. See Figure 16. Route wire under the fuse block. See Figure 17. NOTE: Gas units with serial numbers 1 30,999 and diesel units with serial numbers require the use of the switch mounting bracket (item 1). Later units and LP units mount the switch directly into the control panel. 19. Gas units with serial numbers and diesel models with serial numbers : Place switch (item ) in switch mounting bracket (item 1). Make sure square notch on the bottom of the switch is facing the front end of the bracket. See Figure A 4/14 Page 6 of 8

7 Gas units with serial numbers and diesel models with serial numbers : Use a sharp utility knife or similar blade to cut out the control panel decal from the rectangular hole between the throttle lever and PTO switch. Place switch (item ) in switch mounting bracket hole in control panel. Make sure square notch on the bottom of the switch is facing the front of the control panel.see Figure 19. Gas units with serial numbers and diesel units with serial numbers only. Figure 19 Square notch must face front. Cut decal from rectangular hole in control panel. 0. LP Units: Locate the actuator switch hole on the control panel and remove plug or cut out decal over hole. Install actuator switch (item ) to control panel. Gas units with serial numbers 1 30,999 and diesel models with serial numbers : Install switch mounting bracket to control panel using existing control panel screws. See Figure Connect wire harness to switch and place control panel back in original position. See Figure 0. Figure 0. 8 3. Remove cover from fuse box and remove fuse box mounting screws. See Figure. Fuse Box Mounting Screws 7. Install 0-amp fuse (item 0) in fuse box where the purple wire was added and place fuse box cover on fuse box. See Figure 5. Fuse Box Figure 5 0 Figure Fuse Box Cover 8. Lift deck and install lift assist spring. Position spring adjust bolt " from trunnion and tighten. Tighten trunnion nut onto trunnion. Repeat for other side of deck. Connect negative battery cable to battery and place seat in operator position. 30. Place decals (item 16) on front deck lift weldment and frame of unit. See Figure Place the purple wire from the actuator wire harness in the hole where the green plug was removed and replace blue wire clip.
