Carlisle s most recent innovation in roofi ng technology is DryLight - a fully encapsulated skylight that incorporates a unique glazing system designed to provide enhanced energy savings, easy installation and extended warranty coverage for commercial building applications. Total System Warranty Coverage Because of DryLight s superior performance features, Carlisle is offering the only total system warranty in the industry that will cover any incident of leakage in the skylight, the curb and the fl ashing installation for up to 20 years. DryLight can be covered under Carlisle s 10-, 15- and 20-year roof system warranties when requirements are met. Proven RIM* Technology DryLight is manufactured with the proprietary RIM (Reaction Injection Molding) technology that has proven to be so effective in the automotive industry. RIM is a process where two liquid materials, polyol resin and isocyanate are brought together in a mix head and injected into one or more cavities and allowed to cure to a specifi c shape. The RIM technology is used in the production of DryLight to encapsulate the glazing into a pigmented, UV-stabilized, polyurethane retainer frame and ensures both unit size consistency and a weatherproof bond between both materials. This technology eliminates the need for tapes, gaskets and sealants, reducing the leakage typically associated with traditional skylights that employ mechanical glazing methods. The COLOFAST polyurethane frame requires no coating or maintenance and is also non-conductive, providing a thermal effi ciency that is 38% greater than that of metal-framed skylights. Daylighting Benefi ts When used in conjunction with photosensor or light-dimming controls, DryLight can provide signifi cant energy savings by reducing the use of artifi cial lighting, minimizing peak electrical loads and reducing overall operating costs. Because of its eco-friendly characteristics, DryLight can signifi cantly contribute toward LEED credit requirements in three categories. Studies have shown that daylighting increases productivity in the workplace, improves learning in schools and increases purchasing by 5-8% in retail stores. 3 The Product Line The Drylight skylight is available with or without three types of insulated factory curbs as indicated in the specifi cations. Drylight is available in Model No. SIP Curbs Inside Curb or Roof Opening Dimensions Factory Curbed Units Model No. Metal Curbs three standard sizes, two glazing options, and two standard frame colors of either black or white. DryLight units also have pre-drilled installation holes and come supplied with standard special fasteners, eliminating the need for additional installation components. The following types and sizes of fl ashings can be used with the DryLight system: One-piece TPO/PVC, 48 x 48, 48 x 96, and 60 x 72 fl ashing sleeves Fully Pressure-Sensitive EPDM Curb Flashing, 20 x 50 roll Flashing Accessories TPO/ PVC Flashing Sleeves These preformed fl ashing sleeves cut installation time signifi cantly. The one piece design is manufactured 1 /2 larger than the outside curb dimensions to assure an easy fi t and eliminates the extra welding required for two piece designs. The combination of the 9 SIP curb and one piece fl ashing sleeve represents an excellent value to the contractor with inherent labor savings provided as an extra. Ships with skylight from Greenville, IL when ordered Installation time reduced by over 400% Pressure-Sensitive EPDM Curb Flashing Rolls are 20 wide by 50 long and are fully pressure-sensitive across the entire width, with a release paper break at 5 for folding of fl ashing onto the roof deck. The application of HP 250 primer on the fl ashing fl ange and overlap membrane area is required for proper bonding. Corners need to be fi nished according to Detail SL-5E. 4 Skylights shall be Carlisle s DryLight Skylight as manufactured by Carlisle Syntec, Greenville, IL. The curb-mounted skylights shall be two sealed acrylic domes encapsulated by aliphatic pigmented polyurethane molded by a RIM (Reaction Injection Molding) process and have a minimum effective thickness of 1/8. The assembly will have an integral thermoplastic condensate gutter that is fusion welded and adhered to skylight frame with a VHB (Very High Bonding) tape. Retainer frame has factory-formed mounting holes designed for electroplated fasteners that are supplied with the skylight. Skylights shall be Carlisle s DryLight Skylight as manufactured by Carlisle Syntec, Greenville, IL and described in the CMDD specifi cation. This model skylight is supplied with 11 high factory curb insulated with 1 1/2 of 3# density fi berglass. Curbs are double-walled and fabricated either with galvanized steel or mill-fi nish aluminum. Top of curb is manufactured with wood nailer attached to provide a sound fastening substrate. The roof mounting fl ange is 3. Pre-formed TPO/PVC fl ashing sleeves or fully pressure-sensitive EPDM fl ashing rolls are available for ease of installation and curb encapsulation. Skylights shall be Carlisle s Drylight Skylight as manufactured by Carlisle Syntec, Greenville, IL and described in the CMDD specifi cation. This model skylight is supplied with a 9 high component factory curb that requires on site assembly. Curbs are insulated with 3 1/2 of high density EPS laminated to an outer wall of 7/16 exterior grade OSB sheathing and an inner wall of 1/8 Masonite with a white melamine facer. Curb is fastened to roof deck with the use of supplied 2 metal L brackets. Preformed TPO/PVC fl ashing sleeves and fully pressure-sensitive EPDM curb fl ashing are available to fl ash the curb, which must be encapsulated with the suitable membrane material. 5 Test Results Skylights were evaluated in accordance with AAMA/WDMA/CSA 101/I.S.2/A440-05, Standard/Specifi cations for Windows, Doors, and Unit Skylights. The tested specimens meet (or exceed) the performance levels specifi ed therein where appropriate.
