As some of you may know, a new trucking trade show, the North American Commercial Vehicle event, will take place September 25 28, 2017 at the Georgia World Congress in Atlanta. J&J Truck Bodies & Trailers has secured a 40x40 exhibit space where we will feature three of our most popular commercial dump bodies. Show organizers say the NACV show will target North American-based commercial fleet owners, owner-operators, commercial and light commercial vehicle dealers, distributors, repair shops, truck manufacturers and the commercial vehicle trade media. In addition to this show, J&J Truck Bodies & Trailers will also continue to exhibit at the Mid America Trucking Show, one of the largest annual tradeshows dedicated to heavy-duty trucking industry. INSIDE OUR CUSTOM PAINT PROCESS 1 CHASSIS MODIFICATIONS CHASSIS PAINT PROCESS 2 At J&J, we take paint seriously. That s why we go through a stringent paint process that results in the exact color and coat our customers desire. It starts with the chassis - all parts are blasted, scuffed/sanded, degreased and primed before the top coat goes on. Body prep is just as involved - we blast, sand, and scuff as needed and inspect the substrate profile before our Single Stage or Base Coat / Clear Coat paint process begins. All factory paints are available and a thorough inspection of dry film thickness and coverage takes place before the body heads to our quality department for additional inspection. 3 BODY PREP Built For The Long Haul.

2 A Letter from Michael Riggs AAn election year has the tendency to give the market and companies the jitters until they know which way the political wind is blowing. Even so, J&J is off and running with a strong spring backlog. You may not know, but Somerset Welding & Steel ( J&J ), is a division of Riggs Industries. Riggs Industries ( is made up of other divisions, Lincoln Contracting & Equipment (LCE) and Somerset Steel Erection (SSE), that specialize in industrial contracting, especially in energy. With the election results, the floodgates opened for these divisions and a ton of new energy construction projects have been green-lighted. Good for construction and good for trucks and trailers. At J&J, we have been focusing on safety, process improvements and product quality. A major area of focus has been production scheduling and capacity planning. We have new scheduling tools that allow us to see available labor, by line and by area in real time. Production scheduling is very challenging for the type of products we produce. It requires a complex set of variables (chassis arrival, component delivery, available labor, etc.) to all come together optimally. If any of the variables hiccup, it can set back the production line in significant ways. There are things you can do to help us meet delivery commitments. Accurate VINs and chassis arrival dates are a key to scheduling. Forwarding detailed copies of the chassis specification with signed quotes allows for more accurate contract review, order processing and purchasing. Sometimes it can feel like a pain supplying so much information to the body company, however, our mission is accuracy and to be on time; which requires a lot of information. 4 News Bytes From Our OEM Partners Page 4 Ford Trucks all new F-150 Raptor took home Best Pickup Truck of 2017 from Medium Duty Aluminum Cars.com. The all-new F-150 Raptor, building off the success of its predecessor, pushes the envelope more with performance gains and new technology offerings. The redesigned, reengineered 2017 Super Duty also vied for the overall award. Freightliner Trucks has partnered with FlowBelow Aero, Inc., to supply factory-installed, Material Hauler aerodynamic options for the original Freightliner Cascadia with or without the Evolution aerodynamic package. The FlowBelow Tractor AeroKit is a tractor-mounted system that includes patented Quick-Release wheel covers and aerodynamic center and rear fairings. When installed on the already-streamlined and optimized Cascadia, the wheel covers and fairings work together to create an even smoother airflow and further reduce turbulence and drag on the truck. Kenworth Truck Company announced it will exhibit at the 2017 Mid-America Trucking Show Pressure Vacuum Tank (MATS) March 23-25, 2017, at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville, Kentucky. Mack Trucks spent 2016 as the Official Hauler of NASCAR. And, while the Sprint Cup drivers experienced plenty Heavy Construction of ups and downs during the grueling season, NASCAR s hauler drivers cruised comfortably in their 10 custom-designed Mack Pinnacle model trucks. Why does the cylinder seem loose and rattle in the dog house? A telescopic cylinder mounted to a dump body and chassis frame needs a certain amount of play so the cylinder does not destroy itself when operated in motion or slightly off level. This play in the cylinder is normal. Volvo Trucks North America introduced Volvo Active Driver Assist, a comprehensive collision UltraLight mitigation system that combines both radar and camera capabilities to provide emergency braking and help drivers maintain a safe following distance through alerts and interventions. Volvo currently is the only OEM to fully integrate the system into its Driver Information Display, so no additional display units or prep kits are needed. Volvo made the announcement during the American Trucking Associations (ATA) Management Conference & Exhibition in Las Vegas, Nevada. Western Star s hitting the silver screen once again. Paramount Pictures upcoming Transformers: The Last Knight Transformer Body will feature the heroic Optimus Prime based off the new Western Star 5700XE truck model. A Western Star 4900EX wrecker will also be joining the cast as the Decepticon Onslaught. Typically, there are no problems to address, but when something happens, Rick Miller Gary and Rick are available to fix the issue to make sure corrective actions are put in place to resolve the problem. After-the-service calls are usually about hydraulics, electronics, and lighting, and our service team can often easily resolve these issues over the phone or at a local service center. Manifold Excavating, located in Stewartstown Pa, sent us these photos of their 2001 Kenworth T800 chassis that we outfitted with a Lightweight Crossmemberless (LWC) dump body. Prior to installing the new body, J&J Truck Equipment refurbished the cab and also refinished the chassis frame. This truck is a great example of how to take your existing older equipment and make it look and work like new again! The J&J LWC steel dump body provides a considerable weight savings over traditional side post models. Page 5

It features a heavy-duty aluminum bulkhead that has a barred and protected window aligned with the chassis cab window. J&J Truck Equipment also installed two stainless steel underbody tool boxes on each side of the truck. We can specify a standard flatbed package or customize a solution to fit your particular needs.
