2 Dear Customer, Thank you for purchasing the Pink Faun I2S-bridge. All audio digital-analog converters (DACs) receive their data in the I2S format. This is true for DACs with USB or S/PDIF inputs because the receiver chip converts the signal to I2S. With the I2S bridge, Pink Faun gives you a direct connection between a computer-based streamer and a DAC without any signal conversion. Any form of encoding / decoding that is applicable to other formats, such as USB, S/PDIF or Firewire, is a thing of the past, and sound quality is considerably improved. The Pink Faun I2S-bridge is suitable for both stereo and multi-channel listeners. Pink Faun recommends to play with JRiver MediaCenter. 3 Read this manual carefully for the correct set up of the Pink Faun I2S-bridge. The Pink Faun I2S-bridge is compatible with Windows XP or a later version. Note that Windows XP is no longer supported by Windows or Pink Faun. The Pink Faun I2S-bridge is a PCIe card which should be placed in a vacant PCI slot. Turn off your computer and unplug the computer power cord from your computer and power outlet before placing the Pink Faun I2S-bridge. Place the Pink Faun I2S-bridge in the PCI slot and connect the power supply (SATA). Restart your computer, Windows will automatically recognize and install Pink Faun I2S-bridge, this may take a while. When Windows complete the installation of the I2S-bridge follow further instructions to set up the Pink Faun I2Sbridge properly. Pink Faun recommend to disable all onboard audio devices in the BIOS before you proceed the installment. For BIOS settings refer to the user manual of the motherboard of your computer. On the following pages you will find a step by step instruction to continue installing the Pink Faun I2S-bridge. 3

4 Step 1: Open within Control Panel hardware and Sound by clicking on it as shown in the screenshot below. Set View by on Category. Step 2: Control Panel opens a new window (Hardware and sound) as shown in the next screenshot. Within this window, select Manage audio devices. 4

5 Step 3: Control Panel opens a new window (Sound), in which all installed audio devices are listed. The Pink Faun I2S-bridge appears as: Speakers, High Definition Audio device, set as default. 5

6 Step 4: Select Speakers, High Definition Audio device. Control Panel opens a new screen: speaker properties, as shown in Figure 4. The tag should be changed to Pink Faun I2S-bridge. Step 5: After renaming select the tab: Adjustments as in the next screenshot. Within Enhancements select disable all adjustments. 6

7 Step 6: Select the Advanced tab. Then select the maximum resolution in which the Pink Faun I2Sbridge will be supported. By default Windows selects 16 bits, Hz (cd quality). 7

8 To finish the setup click Apply and OK. Close the Control panel and reboot your computer.
