The different vehicles making up this range provide as many solutions to the various specific situations firefighting and rescue services have to face. Since Renault Trucks leads the field in all aspects of reducing fuel consumption, its fire-fighting vehicles incorporate Optifuel Solutions. These consist of various technological and human tools (robotised gearbox, software for measuring and analysing fuel consumption and instruction in economic driving) designed to significantly and sustainably reduce the vehicles' consumption, an increasingly important concern for fire-fighters when they are not deploying in response to an emergency. Renault Trucks and fire-fighters... go back a long way The collaboration between Renault Trucks and the French fire-fighting equipment federation (FFMI) goes back just as far. Working together with bodybuilders representing the sector, an ongoing dialogue has allowed the national manufacturer to make a significant contribution to all stages of developing French and uropean standards. Through this process, it shares its expertise and keeps in touch with market needs. Renault Trucks has set up a bodybuilding department (bodybuilders, firefighting and roads CIV) with a specific section dedicated to fire service needs. This means that the manufacturer can respond quickly to different demands from bodybuilders as well as from local authority fire and emergency services (SDIS). The advantage for the SDIS is that they deal only have to deal with a single partner. 2 Renault Trucks and fire-fighters... a relationship based on firm foundations As the figures show, Renault Trucks is the manufacturer of choice for firefighters in France. Renault Trucks leads the firefighting sector market in France (fire and rescue vehicles). A few statistics: in 2011, 640 fire trucks were registered in France. Having supplied 427 of these, Renault Trucks has a 72.3 % share of the market. But this is no coincidence. The French manufacturer makes a point of paying attention to its customers' needs. The result is a complete range of vehicles which meet the needs of firefighters and the specific demands of their profession. Vehicles adapted to all firefighting tasks Firemen have a wide range of assignments. In 2009, rescuing victims accounted for 65% of deployments, fires 8%, traffic accidents 7%, protecting property and goods 4%, personal assistance 3% and technological risks 1%. 12% of firefighter operations are described as miscellaneous. Accordingly, Renault Trucks has developed tools which are adapted to the specific nature of these assignments as well as being adapted to urban or rural contexts, industrial sites or difficult terrain. They also feature equipment, or the possibility of fitting equipment, to meet customers' individual specifications and demands. Vehicles that are reliable, sturdy and always ready for deployment, benefiting from Renault Trucks' extensive experience in terms of body mounting capacity, payload and obstacle clearance. A professional service targeting professional users, providing the support of a strong network with 1,200 assistance outlets and an emergency 24/7 emergency service throughout urope. The Renault Trucks firefighting range is made up of 4x2, 6x4, 8x4 and 6x2 vehicles as well as 4x4, 6x6 and 8x8 all-wheel drive vehicles specifically designed for firefighting and emergency services. Midlum van light fire tender (FPTL) The Renault Midlum 220 hp with a GVW of 10 t, combining compactness, manoeuvrability and performance. The 4 door, 6 seater crew cab is designed to offer easy access for firefighting teams and facilitate loading and unloading equipment. It is used for deployment on standard extinction and straightforward rescue operations. The Renault Midlum 4X2 FPT fire tender The Renault Midlum 270 and 300 hp FPT is available with a GVW of 15 t, making it possible to produce FPTs (fire tenders) and FPT-SRs (highway emergency fire tenders). The Renault Midlum 270 and 300 hp 4x2 fire tender (FPT) has a 4 door and 8 seater crew cab which can accommodate fire-fighters wearing breathing apparatus. The Midlum FPT can also be supplied in a special version featuring a deeper cab. 3

4 The robotised Optitronic gearbox Since Renault Trucks is determined to offer the best vehicles with the lowest operating costs, and therefore, Renault Midlum is available with the Optitronic robotised gearbox which delivers significant reductions in consumption. This means that automatic gear shifting takes into account load, slope, engine cartography, powertrain and acceleration, as well as slowing and braking. Available on all Midlum 4x2 fire-fighting versions, it is the ideal accompaniment to DXi and SCR (Selective Catalyst Reduction) engines for controlled fuel consumption. With gear shifts taking place at optimal engine speeds for fuel efficiency, the vehicle uses up to 7 % less fuel than those with manual gearboxes. Optitronic can be combined with an Optibrake retarder on 6 cylinder engines. Another benefit over the manual gearbox is the automatic clutch control which optimises service life and protects against any overheating. This limits the risk of seriously damaging the gearbox or the engine due to over-speeding. The Optitronic gearbox is a 6AS 1000 model on the Midlum 220, 270 and 300hp versions. Renault Trucks offers all power take-off systems (PTO) adapted to the requirements of bodybuilders (in terms of ratios and power) for driving hydraulic pumps. The Renault Midlum FPT range is supplemented by an automatic gearbox variant made by Allison with specific power take-off (PTO) for fire tender pumps. This customised, fire-fighting automatic gearbox with power take-off has an automatic gear downshift mechanism, producing an effect similar to that of an engine brake, unprecedented on an automatic gearbox. As an option, the automatic gearbox can be fitted with an integrated hydraulic retarder, with controls coupled to the brake pedal. This range of vehicles perfectly meets fire-fighting needs in urban and rural environments. Renault Midlum 4x4 In the "Off-Road" or all-terrain 4x4 version, Renault Trucks offers 270hp and 300hp vehicles in FPT-HR, FPT-HR, CCR and CCF versions. The more versatile CCRs (rural fire tenders) in terms of usage comply with the N and 2 and NF S standards. The CCFs, designed for firefighting in difficult terrain, comply with N standards and 2 and NF S The 4x4 CCF Renault Midlum offers excellent performance, exceptional obstacle clearance, impact protection and the capacity to operate in hostile conditions and areas with difficult access. 4

5 And personal protection is not forgotten: the vehicle offers a reinforced cab with an inner roll bar, three-point safety belts for the four seated places, as well as protection of vital units against fire and thermal radiation. lectrical pre-equipment Apart from the features which are specific to each 4x2 or 4x4 range and to each application, the Renault Midlum fire and rescue truck has the most comprehensive set of equipment on the market: - cab in firefighter red - uropean standard-compliant cabs, - tinted and laminated windscreen and tinted windows (side windows also laminated on the CCF forest fire tender) - electrical panel integrated into the overhead locker centralising electrical connections for: searchlight Working light rotating lights 2 tone horn transmitter receiver storage trunk lighting marker lights flashing lights beacon lights - engine start up by unlosable key, - card reader, - white-painted bumpers, - headlight protection grills (on 4x4s), - front towing clevis or shackle point, - full complement of fire equipment with two wheel chocks, - twin cylinder air compressor The Acmat range In partnership with Acmat (the Renault Trucks Defense subsidiary specialised in light defence vehicles), Renault Trucks is adapting vehicles originally designed for military purposes to meet the pulling power needs of firefighters. The ACMAT ALTV, launched in September 2012, is a 3.5 ton rapid response vehicle. Its 190 hp engine and its equipment supplied by Gallin enable it to carry up to 1,000 L of water under all types of operating conditions. A concentrate of robustness and mobility, it is designed to 5

6 quickly reach small fires that have started in rough terrain and prevent them from spreading. The ACMAT 4X4 CCFL, a light Forest Fire tender, has been based on the famous Acmat VLRA (Liaison, Reconnaissance and Support Vehicle), a light defence vehicle which has been tried and tested for many years in the field of military operations. Launched in September 2011, the Acmat 4x4 CCFL meets the needs for mobility and payload which firefighters demand to bring small forest fires in particular under control swiftly and efficiently. This vehicle particularly stands out for its pulling power. It is a truck that can operate over every type of terrain, even the most challenging, carrying a high volume of water (up to 2,400 L including 400 L for its own protection) at a GVW of 10 t. Its low height (2,480 mm), which meets a specific need expressed by firefighters, is an asset which enables it to drive with greater agility through undergrowth and enhance the vehicle's mobility. quipped with a DXi 5 engine, the ACMAT 4X4 CCFL offers the very best technologies developed by both Renault Trucks and Acmat. It is available with a tanker and specific equipment. The other ranges Renault Master and Renault Maxity but also Renault Premium and Renault Kerax cater to the needs of emergency rescue and fire-fighting. Renault Master and Renault Maxity are more specifically dedicated to rapid rescue response on the road. Renault Midlum and Premium Long Distance can be equipped with ladders, hydraulic arms, tanks, lifting arms or specialised equipment for firefighting in urban and rural environments and to tackle industrial risks. The Renault Kerax, an all-terrain vehicle par excellence, can be equipped with all forms of firefighting and forest fire equipment. Optifuel Solutions: tools and services for cutting fuel consumption The Renault Trucks range of firefighting vehicles benefits from all the manufacturer's fuel saving expertise. To achieve this aim, Renault Trucks relies on both a high-performance driveline and technological innovations (Optifuel Technology) to obtain an accurate and relevant analysis of data associated with consumption (Optifuel Infomax). It also makes the most of its ability to involve drivers via instruction in economic driving (Optifuel Training) and on its efficient fleet management solution (Optifleet). 6

7 Renault Trucks and the fire service... an international story COMMUNIQU Present in Algeria, Renault Trucks uses primarily French bodybuilders to respond to calls for tender. The civil protection agency, which manages the needs of the whole country, relies on the manufacturer s experience and its bodybuilder partners for rescue and firefighting vehicles to cope with increasingly demanding situations. The number of fire stations is to be increased in order to respond more quickly to the needs of a burgeoning population. The total fleet currently consists of almost 1,600 vehicles on Renault Trucks chassis, primarily Midlums. In 2012, Renault Truck supplied 430 new chassis, (236 Midlum 4X4 CCI chassis, 184 Midlum FPT chassis and 10 Kerax chassis). Another country, another continent: in Chile, the national organisation of Chilean fire-fighters and its army of 35,000 firemen in the Junta Nacional de Bomberos de Chile (JNBC), has only Renault Trucks vehicles in its fleet. There are 1,500 of them in all. The two profiles most in demand in Chile are Renault Trucks export models: The Midlum CCI x2 and 4x4. In , 118 vehicles were delivered. Between 2011 and 2012, the JNBC added a further 140 vehicles to its fleet (particularly 10 t Midlum 4x2 220 hp and 18 t 4x2 280 hp models).
