Order and install this kit to replace damaged filter covers on these Hydro-Gear auxiliary pumps. The cover kit includes a replacement filter cover, a filter, gasket and cover plug. Refer to the attached instruction sheet p/n for installation instructions. pump filter cover. Read, understand, and follow all safety practices in Owner/Operator Manual before beginning. STOP engine, wait for all moving parts to stop, and remove ignition key before servicing. WARNING: HYDRAULIC FLUID can result in severe burns. Fluid in hydraulic system can penetrate skin and result in serious injury or death. Be sure to stop the engine before doing any work on hydraulic parts. Keep body and hands away from pin holes or nozzles which expel hydraulic fluid when under pressure. Use paper or cardboard, not hands, to search for leaks. Ensure all hydraulic fluid connections are tight and all hydraulic hoses and lines are in good condition before applying pressure to system. FOREIGN FLUID INJECTED INTO BODY can result in gangrene. Fluid must be surgically removed within a few hours by a doctor familiar with this form of injury. Remove Existing Filter Cover 1. 7 2. Locate the filter cover on the auxiliary pump. Existing filter cover. Replace the Filter Cover 1. Install the filter and o-ring from the auxiliary filter kit (item 3) on the filter cover. Make sure the filter fits flush with the cover. Filter from item 3. Pump Figure 2 3. Clean the area around the filter cover to keep dirt and debris from contaminating the pump. 4. Use a 7/8" wrench to remove the filter cover from the auxiliary pump. Discard the cover and the filter. 5. Remove any filter cover pieces from the auxiliary pump and clean the pump, if necessary. NOTE: The pump in Figures 3 and 5 has been removed from a unit for clarity of the photos. DO NOT remove the pump from the unit when installing this kit. Make sure no broken pieces get left here. O-Ring from item Install the filter cover assembly (item 3) on the auxiliary pump and tighten with a 7/8" wrench. 3. Use a 1/8" allen wrench to install the 5/16-24 plug (item 2) in the filter cover (item 1), if necessary. 4. Start the engine and check the hydraulic system for leaks at the filter cover assembly. 5/16-24 plug (item 2) installed in the filter cover (item 1). Figure 4 Clean dirt and grime this surface.
