4 Instructions Fuel Tank Conversion Kit #71261 Introduction Use this manual to change the fuel tank on your Reel Rain Traveler System to a sixgallon tank. Please follow all safety recommendations and conversion instructions carefully. These instructions apply to all models of gas engine Reel Rains. Your machine may or may not look exactly like the photos shown in the instructions, depending on your Reel Rain model. All of the same parts are used, regardless of machine model. Fuel valve on tank in OFF position IMPORTANT USAGE NOTICE!! Due to EPA regulations, the new tank cap is not vented. This can create a problem with engine flooding, especially on hot days. To avoid this issue, always make sure the gas valve on either the engine or the tank (or both) is shut off when the engine is not in use. Safety Please read the following safety instructions before beginning: Handle fuel safely do NOT smoke while handling fuel or tank. Do NOT perform conversion or store fuel or tank near any open flame. Fuel valve on engine in OFF position Always store fuel in proper containers. Do NOT perform conversion while Reel Rain is in operation. Make sure the reel brake is engaged. Please refer to your Reel Rain user manual for information on how to make sure the reel brake is engaged. 2 10/9/12 MAN124

5 Fuel Tank Conversion Kit #71261 Introduction/Safety Parts The following parts are included in the conversion kit. Before beginning, please check your kit to make sure all parts have been included. Please contact if a part is missing or damaged for a replacement. NOTE #1: The parts indicated with an asterisk (*) are already assembled as part of the fuel tank. These parts are listed separately in the event one needs to be replaced in the future. Note that one decal is already installed on the tank but a second one is included to be installed on the frame of the irrigator. NOTE #2: The numbers on the drawings also correlate to the numbering system in the parts catalogs. 7 Fuel Tank Conversion Kit #71261 Introduction/Safety NOTE! The tank arrives fully assembled as part of the kit. The tank is shown by part in this drawing in case spare parts are needed in the future. MAN124 10/9/12 5

8 Instructions Fuel Tank Conversion Kit #71261 Installation Instructions Remove Existing Tank IMPORTANT! Perform the installation in the order indicated in this manual. Removing the existing tank before installing the new one is necessary to access the hoses needed for the new tank. 1. Make sure the fuel valve on the engine is set to OFF. 4. Using a 10mm socket, remove the two nuts holding the fuel tank to the righthand side of the engine. Remove these nut. 5. Using a 6 extension and a 10mm socket, remove the bolt holding the fuel tank to the left hand side of the engine. Make sure fuel valve is in OFF position. 2. Make sure the engine is turned off and has cooled completely. 3. Drain all gas from the fuel tank. Follow all instructions for handling fuel safely. Remove bolt holding fuel tank to engine 6. Lift the tank up as far as possible. 7. Remove the wire clamp holding the fuel line to the tank, and then remove the fuel line. Make sure engine switch is in OFF position. NOTE! The fuel line for the new tank will connect to the fuel line disconnected from the stock tank. 6 10/9/12 MAN124

9 Fuel Tank Conversion Kit #71261 Introduction/Safety Drill Hole for Vent Line Before installing the tank, make sure the barb for the tank is drilled all the way through. The vent line from the new tank will be attached to this barb. The other end will connect to the tank vent barb located just below the fuel cap of the new tank. To check: 1. Remove the thumb screw holding the cover over the filter. 3. Insert a small screwdriver through the barb to make sure it is completely open. Object should come out through here Thumb screw Insert here 4. If the hole is open all the way through, replace the cover and continue with page 10. Make sure the thumb screw is tightened. If the hole is NOT open, continue with Step Remove wing nut securing the filter. 2. Remove the air filter cover. Remove wing nut 6. Remove the filter. MAN124 10/9/12 7

10 Instructions Fuel Tank Conversion Kit #71261 Drill Hole for Vent Line 7. Remove the filter base. Make sure drill bit comes all the way through the base 8. Place the base upside down on a solid surface. 10. Once the hole is drilled, replace the filter base, making sure to line up the notch with the small protrusion on the engine. The holder should be correctly seated in place as shown in the second picture. Notch Drill through barb 9. Using a 1/8 drill bit, drill straight down through the barb until the drill bit comes through the top of the filter holder. 8 10/9/12 MAN124

11 Fuel Tank Conversion Kit #71261 Introduction/Safety Drill Hole for Vent Line 11. Place the filter back on the spindle as shown in the picture. 13. Replace the filter cover. 12. Replace the wing nut and hand tighten. 14. Replace the thumbscrew and hand tighten. MAN124 10/9/12 9

12 Instructions Fuel Tank Conversion Kit #71261 Install New Tank Refer to the drawing below to install the tank. The numbers indicated in the instructions after the Amadas part number also refer to the drawing. 1. Attach the brace channel mount (part #95605) (8) to the gas tank mount (part #125376) (9), and then to the irrigator frame as shown. Use the following fasteners: 5/16-18x1 Self-tapping screw (part #G180079T) 2. Using the tank straps (part #80841) (5), loosely attach the 6-gallon tank (part #80838) (3) to the gas tank mount (9). Use the following fasteners: ¼-20x3/4 Uss cap screw (part #G180020) ¼-20 serrated flange nut (part #G126178) ¼-Sae flat washer (part #G120392) 3. Level the tank, square it to the machine, and tighten all of the fasteners. 4. Attach the engine shield (part #127952) (10) to the top of the engine where the gas tank was removed. Use the following fasteners: 5/16-18 Uss Nut (part #G120376) 5/16 Uss flat washer (part #G131085) 5/16-18x1 Uss cap screw (part #G180079) 10 10/9/12 MAN124

13 Fuel Tank Conversion Kit #71261 Introduction/Safety Install New Tank 5. Press the fuel filter (part #8125) in the hose coming from the engine. 9. Cut the second fuel line (part #141126) to fit between the barb below the fuel cap to the barb on the filter base. Clamp Fuel filter 10. Attach the fuel line to the barbs as shown in the photos below. Main fuel line Line from engine Connect from this barb 6. Install the main fuel line (part# ) to the end of the filter and clamp (part #2363) in place (photo above). 7. Cut the fuel line to the required length and install on valve. To this barb Clamp fuel line to valve 8. Install the hose clamp. 11. Affix decal (part #80857) (7) where indicated in the drawing on the previous page. MAN124 10/9/12 11

14 Instructions Fuel Tank Conversion Kit #71261 Install New Tank 12. Put a small amount of fuel in the tank and check for leaks. If there are no leaks, the machine is ready to run. OFF IMPORTANT USAGE NOTICE!! Due to EPA regulations, the new tank cap is not vented. This can create a problem with engine flooding, especially on hot days. To avoid this issue, always make sure the gas valve on either the engine or the tank (or both) is shut off when the engine is not in use. ON IMPORTANT! When you transport the irrigator, make sure the fuel valve on the bottom of the tank is turned off as well as the valve on the engine /9/12 MAN124
