2 Dear Porschephiles As promised, this is one heck of a month for activities 1.0 Porsche Club Malaysia EGM/AGM First let me thank the outgoing Exco for all their work and sacrifices that they put in terms of time, effort, money and pure hard energy. Not always appreciated but driven by passion. We hope, collectively, we have done a fairly good job of running the club and putting on as many activities that we can. We are aware that there is room for improvement, and we shall analyze all aspects. To the retiring Exco and internal auditors, Dato Peppe Foo, Dato Alex Nah, Dato Tengku Yusof, Frankie Yong, Marc Teo and Ignatius Ho, thank you The incoming Exco President: Dep President Vice President Secretary Treasurer Directors Internal Auditors Key Soon Yue Chan Kien Sing Derrick Lim Dato Ong Eng Hock Lim Wern Siang Dato Amelia Kong Jason Low Johnson Tan Marc Teo Tan Tai Ming Azman Yahya (Tan Sri Dato Sri) Foo Chi Chean (Dr) Congratulations all. Some changes were made in the EGM to facilitate the better administration of the Club as we need to reflect on the passage of time and evolve along with it. There were no dissenting votes on all 10 resolutions adopted. 2.0 Mini Doty to Phuket We have grown to such an extent that we require TWO Dotys now. The Drive to Phuket via overnight stays in Hatyai was a 5 nighter, covering about 2,000 plus kms, excluding day drives within the 6 nights. Welcome to

3 the five new members who joined us and the groups that joined from Penang. I must say, the most improved member is Roland Kaw, who had an astounding 50% improvement in overall speed. No more sweaty palms for him. Getting to be a pro. Drive conditions were generally dry and we had no worries on traction except for a little stretch when it rained. Even then, it was nothing to be alarmed about. Easy conditions gave us pleasant cruising all the way with no major mechanical problems. This being the 50th Anniversary of the 911, we had six 911 models from 1985 to 2013 from all across the range. Day drives were to the mainland thru a tricky mountain pass that had 288 bends and curves. 400 plus km in this. There was also a round the island drive where we took the opportunity to recce places, restaurants and hotels as well. Now we have fresh ideas Stay was at Barn Thai, whose hospitality is always warm and nice. Centrally located at Patong beach, activities are endless. Two Gala dinners hosted by PCM at Nicky's Handlebar and the Hotel's Beach Promenade never cease in amaze rookies, especially Nicky's Boutique Hotel fashioned from Harley parts and workshop bits and pieces. On the way back, the Hatyai Supercar club hosted us. Thai hospitality have always been fantastic, and I myself was travelling in a 997 Turbo S. A lucky girl was in an Aventador. Hard to imagine this kind of heavy machinery going thru the narrow streets of Hatyai, but there we were. Drive directors Ong Eng Hock and Johnson Tan acquitted themselves very well. 4 3.0 PCM- FOCM Badminton Challenge Now how shall we report this result? Section 1. Won by PORSCHE. Section 2. Won by Ferrari. So maybe we keep it as one each. Afterall, this is a Porsche publication. Captain Dato Kuan Po Leong, Jason Low and Johnson Tan worked hard for this. Thank you. 4.0 New members' night at Club99 This is ever popular and we need to do this on a regular basis as we have have so many members joining, on a daily basis. 122 registered but 168 turned up. Guys, gals, please- please- please register so that we can better prepare for things. Seems like lucky draws are now part of the new members' night program now. Congrats to Bob on winning the 46" LED TV. Just nice for his new house. Thank you Amelia, good job as always.

5 5.0 Super(Japan) GT 50th Anniversary of the 911, so naturally, s on the track. The sight of s, of all ages on the start/finish line made us proud to be Porsche owners. This in itself, is another records of sorts as it is made up entirely of Malaysian cars. Yes, we had s at Sepang before, but it was made up from the Porsche Clubs of Malaysia, Hongkong, Singapore and Thailand. Each Porsche had 4 Grand stand tickets for coming. From the time I raced in the Japan GT many years ago, the times, cars and drivers have changed so much. A few are still around, like ex- F1 driver Ralph Firman and Le Man campaigner Michael Krumm piloting a Honda HSV and a Lexus respectively. I still recall sharing a pre- Race Press Conference table with them in front of more than 300 press people and feeling like a little rat trapped in a bottle. GT 300 now admits GT3 as well, and prototypes are no longer in use.other significant memories were testing while the 'Track Experience' was going on. This is when coaches full of guests went round the circuit when we were practicing. First encounter was just past turn 5 with a fast Lamborghini on my tail and then this very slow coach pops up right in front. The decision to go right of the coach never had time to go thru my brain, but fortunately, Noritake's JLOC Lambo went left. Otherwise I would have been a Porsche sandwich between the coach and the Murcie. The other fond memory was during the parade lap when we were on the open top TD's. The crowd cheered us the loudest whenever we passed and jumping on their

6 seats. Nevermind we were the slowest and irritated most of the other drivers, but it was fun for drive partner Ila Ridak as well. We got our lead Race Queen Chelsea to blow kisses to the crowd and the roar that followed us was so deafening. Afterall, we were MALAYSIANS and we were the first Malaysians to participate in the Japan GT. No posses from us. You know, the Race Queens pointing 1 finger, 2 fingers to the cheek type of posing? It used to be that all drivers raced in ice cooled race gear. That is, water tubes connected to a pump, pumping ice water from a container that circulates inside the race overalls to keep cool. 55C inside the almost sealed interior. Drivers faint after 15 laps if the suits fail. Now, no more. The cars are AIR- CONned. They are equipped with small compressors that works on kinetic energy that deploys upon braking. The compressed air is connected to tubes and blows thru the seats, suit and helmet. So, the 15 turns of Sepang will get the compressors working 15 times per lap. Sounds good... but I wonder if there have been any compressor failure or tubes coming loose? All said and done, the Super GT have the most beautiful GT cars in the world. The innovation and state of art technology that goes into the cars are beyond normal comprehension. Detailing is precise. It is also the fastest GT race series in the world. And the Queens? They still lose out to Le Man. Thank you JP Chin, you have made our day.

7 6.0 Seat fitting Our Porsche Club member from Thailand getting his seat measured and fitted in his other car. Probably needs to as I remember when I raced with him in the Challenge Series he had to put in a pillow for his bum as the Omp competition seat was a little too low for him.
