4 T4 Series PED - Pressure Equipment Direc ve Hyson gas springs are designed to meet customer expecta ons for reliability, safety and service life me. The design, manufacture and tes ng of Hyson gas springs has been approved according to the European Pressure Equipment Direc ve (97/23/EC). The Pressure Equipment Direc ve (PED) replaces all previous European legisla on governing the design, manufacture and tes ng of pressure vessels. Product Value High force with ISO Standard dimensions Large rod and rod seal provide higher force in the same diameter and height dimensions as ISO Standard springs Force adjustability & increased produc vity Our gas springs are adjustable simply by modifying gas pressure through a hosed control panel while the die is in the press. Balanced, consistent force Our gas springs provide for a balanced pad and high quality parts while, as coil springs start to fa gue and break, the pad can become imbalanced resul ng in poor quality parts. T4 Series Features Eight models with stroke lengths to 300 mm/11.81 in. Diameters available from 45 mm to 195 mm/1.77 in to 7.68 in. Variety of moun ng op ons available with upper C-groove and lower U-groove. Flexible guide: Specially engineered to absorb normal lateral movements and misalignments due to clearances in the die to prolong service life. Flexible Piston Ring: Mounted to the piston, this ring provides addi onal guidance. Advanced Safety Features Over-Pressure : designed to safely vent excessive gas pressure in the event of an over-pressure situa on such as overcharged gas springs or the inges on of large amounts of drawing or cooling fluids. Overload Overpressure Overstroke Over- : A patented system allows the ven ng of gas in a pre-determined manner with deforma on or knock-out plug in the event of a mechanical overload of the gas spring body. Overload : In the case of blockage in the tool that causes excessive piston return speed, a specially-designed rod and integral safety stops retain the piston rod in the gas spring and allow gas to vent safely. 2

Only for special requirements should a polytrophic calcula on be considered, to be decided case by case. Polytrophic Force Increase For most applica ons the temperature inside the gas spring will not stay constant during the stroke. Therefore the real force is different from applica on to applica on depending on: stroke length and used stroke; gas volume; press velocity and strokes per minute (SPM); opera ng temperature and environment; internal fric ons; etc. 20
