3 The Excelsior Power IC series of inverter/chargers have been carefully designed and manufactured to provide you years of reliable opera on. Please read this manual thoroughly before connec ng and opera ng your inverter. Please keep the manual for future reference, as it contains informa on that you may require in the correct connec on, opera on and troubleshoo ng of this inverter. Excelsior Power Inverters Excelsior Power have been involved in the design, manufacture and importa- on of power conversion technology for over 25 years. The IC series of power inverters are highly advanced, microprocessor controlled units that provide the highest surge capabili es, so they can start difficult loads, such as TV s, Microwaves, Refrigera on units and even Air Condi oners. Unlike many inverters, which can damage 240 Vac motors, such as those found in refrigerators, the PS series provide a Pure Sine Wave output, which is very clean and perfect for Mains operated equipment, so that motors and fridges don t overheat and fail prematurely. The IC series also have a display on front to show ba ery voltage and load, which takes the guess work out of ba ery me and consump on. They also achieve the highest efficiency (90%) plus) which means cooler running, higher reliability and longer running me! Excelsior Power Inverters convert 12 or 24 volt Direct Current to 240 Volt, alterna ng current at 50 Hz. Installa on When connec ng the inverter to the ba ery, use the thickest wires available, keep the length as short as possible, 2 meters maximum length. To find the recommended minimal cable size for your inverter, please refer to the Specifica ons sec on at the back of this manual. To calculate the minimum ba ery ba ery size recommended for your inverter in Amp/Hours, please see the Specifica ons sec on at the back of this manual. Mount the inverter in a clean environment, that is free of dust, insects and moisture, Ensure that the inverter has enough space around it for ven la on, especially at the front and rear for the cooling fan. Connec ng your inverter 1. Make sure the switch on the front of the unit is in the off posi on (0) 2. Connect the wires to the inverter input terminals at the rear of the unit. Make sure to match the nega ve ( Black ) terminal to the inverter with the wire that connects to the nega ve terminal on the ba ery. 3. Connect the posi ve ( red ) terminal on inverter connec ng a wire to the posi ve terminal of the ba ery. 4. Make sure the connec ons are good and secure. WARNING: Do not reverse connect polarity to ba ery, as this will damage inverter, and is not covered under warranty!

4 Ge ng Started When you turn on an appliance that operates using a motor, fluorescent lights, air condi oning, fridge and some electronic loads, it requires an ini al surge of power to start. This surge of power can be many mes the running, or con nuous power ra ng of the appliance. Fridges and Air condi oners can take many thousands of wa s for the first second to start up. A microwave can use up to double the rated cooking power, so an 800 Wa microwave can use up to 1600 Wa s of electrical power. To work out the current from your ba ery, divide the wa age of the appliance by the ba ery voltage; IE 100 wa s / 12 volts = 8 Amps. Although all Excelsior Inverters are electrically isolated and filtered to minimise signal interference, some interference with your TV may be unavoidable, especially with weak signals. However, here are some sugges ons that may improve recep on. 1. First, make sure the TV antenna produces a clear signal under normal opera ng condi ons ( normal grid power ) Also make sure the antenna cables properly shielded and of good quality. 2. Try changing the posi on of the inverter, antenna cable and TV power cord. 3. Isolate the TV, it s power cord and antenna cable from the ba ery power by running an extension cord from the inverter to the TV. 4. Coil the TV power cord. 5. Coil the DC ba ery cables from the ba ery to the inverter. 6. A ach a Ferrite Data Line Filter to the power cord. Note: Some inexpensive audio systems may produce a slight buzzing sound when used from the inverter. This is caused by deficient filters in the audio system, The only solu on to solve this problem is to use a sound system of a higher quality power supply. Use of RCD s RCD s may be used with the inverter, please ensure the earth connec on of the front of the inverter is connected to the chassis of the vehicle or an earth stake.

5 TROUBLESHOOTING PROBLEM: Low or no Output Voltage... REASON SOLUTION Ba ery low shutdown *Try restar ng a er When fridge starts 10 mins *Use thicker ba ery Cable *Check ba ery

6 TROUBLESHOOTING PROBLEM: TV Interference.... SYMPTON SOLUTION Electrical Interference *Add a ferrite data line From inverter filter onto the TV power Cord *Twist input cables together 3 mes every meter *Keep the inverter as far as Possible from TV *Use be er antenna PROBLEM: Low Ba ery Alarm on All The Time REASON SOLUTION Ba ery voltage bellow *Keep input voltage above 11 / 22 volts 11 / 22 volts Poor or weak ba ery *Recharge or replace ba ery condi on Inadequate power being *Use thicker cable Delivered to the inverter *Keep cable length as short Or excessive voltage drop as possible PROBLEM: Appliance does not start SYMPTOM SOLUTION Appliance does not turn on *Try turning inverter on Then off, then on again *Appliance has higher start Up surge than inverter
