2 Introduction The safe clamping system for circular hollow section tube ccess Technologies Limited was established in 1995 to manufacture access equipment for the onstruction Industry. The Fastlamp brand followed as a natural progression four years later and has since grown to become one of the premier ranges of slip on tubular fittings available today. Fastlamp is a range of fittings manufactured from Malleable Iron to S EN 1562 or uctile Iron (where noted in the fittings description) to S EN Fastlamp fittings are used to construct lightweight tubular steel structures and are manufactured to suit five different tube sizes. Fastlamp fittings require no welding, drilling or special tools, simply use a heagon key to tighten the special setscrews that embed into the tube. Fastlamp fittings will support an aial load of up to 900 kg when tightened to a torque of 39Nm. FINISHES VILLE Fastlamp castings are Hot dip Galvanised to S EN ISO 1461 as standard. Fastlamp fittings can also be supplied in a powder coated finish to RL standard colours, subject to quantity and availability from the coaters mm 33.7mm FSTLMP SELETION Fastlamp fittings are suitable for use with steel tubes to S EN with a minimum wall thickness of 3.2mm, however please note that internal fitting types: 01, 06, 65, -02 & -06 are only designed for use with 3.2mm thick tube. 3 pplication Guidelines Racking and general structures Racking and general structures can be constructed using Fastlamp fittings. are must be taken to ensure that the tube size selected is adequate for the loads anticipated. To help with the selection of the correct tube, table 1 provides the uniformly distributed loads that can be supported between upright posts, assuming that the load is supported by two tubes. These loads are calculated based on the maimum bending moment for the tube. Table 2 provides the load capacity for single upright posts with various unsupported lengths. These loads are based on the compression strength and buckling loads of the circular hollow section (HS) tube. The loading capacity of any guardrail structure is determined principally by the diameter, thickness and frequency of its Uprights. The table below contains our recommendations to safely meet the stated design loads based on the maimum permissible bending moment of the Upright tube. 6 Products 05 Swivel Elbow Type Tube Size Kg 05G Type 05 fitting has been designed as a variable angle in-line connection, adjustable through 202. WRNING!: n entire structure should not be constructed from Type 05 or any other swivel fitting, as these would not provide sufficient stability or rigidity in the structure due to the free rotation of the fitting. 03 dd On Short Tee Type Tube Size Kg 03G G The dd On short Tee allows eisting structures to be added to without the need for any dismantling. Tubes must not be jointed within this fitting. 40 dd On 90 rossover Type Tube Size Kg 40G G The dd On 90 rossover allows eisting structures to be added to without the need for any dismantling. This fitting is designed to give a 90 offset crossover joint. Tubes must not be joined within this fitting. 00 Sleeve Joint Type Tube Size Kg 00G G G G G The Sleeve Joint is designed to provide an in-line joint between two tubes of the same diameter. 01 Epanding onnector Type Tube Size Kg 01G G G The epanding onnector is designed to provide an in line joint between tubes of the same diameter, and a wall thickness of 3.2mm. It fits flush with the tube surface and can be located inside other fittings. It must not be used as a load-bearing joint, for such applications use a Fastlamp type 00. WRNING!: Inline internal connector for joining two tubes together. Only medium gauge 3.2mm wall thick tube can be used. The 150 should never be used as a load bearing joint. 7 03 Short Tee Type Tube Size Kg 03G G G G G The Short Tee is designed to provide a butt joint between two tubes at right angles to each other. Often used for railing ends and tops. If tubes need to be joined inside the fitting then a 04G type should be used. 04 Long Tee Type Tube Size Kg 04G G G G G The Long Tee is designed to provide a butt joint between two tubes at right angles to each other. Often used for railing ends and tops. It is usually used in conjunction with a 36G type fitting to make a 46G type base swivel combination. This fitting does not provide sufficient rigidity to be used as a railing base without other means of support. It can also be used on top of walls as a fiing for a low rail. 17 Ground Support Type Tube Size Kg 17G G G The Ground Socket is designed to provide a base that can be cast into the ground to support a post. The post is removable. It is recommended that this fitting be used in accordance with Fastlamp maimum post centre dimensions, see table 3 on our Technical Page. 18 ase Flange with Integrated Toeboard Type Tube Size E Ø Kg E 18G G The ase Flange with Integrated Toeboard is ideal for guardrailing and balustrading applications where the addition of a toeboard is required. The side plates have slotted holes to allow for a degree of sideways movement for ease of installation. This fitting may also be used for the top rail with the centre post capped with a 65 Plastic Stop End. 25 Short Tee Swivel (Normally used in pairs) Type Tube Size Kg 25G G G G G Short Tee Swivel fittings are normally used in pairs to facilitate corner angles of 90 to 180. It is also used on staircases with a 02 and 03 fittings in conjunction with a short piece of tube and a 65 Plastic End ap in landing areas. When ordering please specify the number of fittings required, not the number of pairs. 28 djustable 2 Socket ross (30 to 45 ) Type Tube Size Kg 28G G G º to 45º The djustable 2 Socket ross fitting will accommodate any rake angle from 30 to 45. This fitting is not recommended as the top fitting on a guardrail or balustrade system, use the 29 djustable Short Tee. 29 djustable Short Tee (30 to 60 ) Type Tube Size Kg 29G G G º to 60º The djustable Short Tee fitting will accommodate any rake angle from 30 to 60. This fitting is commonly used for the top rail of handrail to accommodate the rake angle on slopes. It can also be used for any Tee Joint to make at an angle of between 30 and 60 for light weight structures. 30 ollar Type Tube Size Kg 30G G G G G The ollar fitting can be used to support the 03 fitting when the latter is used as a hinge. If a heavy gate is being used we recommend that 03 and 30 type fittings are used to support the gate. 32 Gate Hinge Type Tube Size Kg 32G G G G This fitting is designed as a gate hinge for light weight gates. 19 The Range Handrailing for the disabled Under the terms of the Equality ct 2010 (previously the isability iscrimination ct), reasonable adjustments need to be made to public and commercial buildings to overcome physical barriers which prevent disabled access. The uilding Regulations recommend an outside diameter tube size for installations of between 40mm-45mm. The Range esigned to satisfy the requirements of Part M of the uilding Regulations 2004 Our range has been designed to meet these requirements by providing a non-discriminatory handrail solution that complies with the Equality ct and Part M of the uilding Regulations. The range allows construction of a smooth continuous handrail of 42.4mm diameter. fittings are supplied Hot dip Galvanised as standard but can be supplied in a powder coated finish to RL standard colours (subject to quantity and availability from the coaters). In cold temperatures a powder coated finish will give the impression of being warmer to the touch. 01 Upright onnector Type Kg onnector for attaching the 04 intermediate bracket or the 02 handrail connector to the 48.3mm o/d upright. 02 Handrail onnector Type Kg onnector (made from uctile Iron) for attaching the end of the 42.4mm o/d handrail tube at 90 to the 48.3mm o/d upright.
