Background MARSWELL ENGINEERING LIMITED has found in Hong Kong in We have substantial experience in small module plastic gearing and gearbox, automated injection molding, and molds and moldings for any small, precision component. We are one of the minority companies who still committed to have an advanced manufacturing plant with high quality machinery in Hong Kong. Our in-house production team supports the production line and cope with customers' needs for better business cooperation. We have a full complement of equipments including Swiss hobbing machine, Japanese CNC, EDM and injection machine for quality and shorten the production lead-time. Striving toward your goal! It's our commitment to the customer. We would like to strive keening on the competitive and opening up new opportunities in the advanced technologies with our customer. We believe that our professional support and well-organized management can definitely fulfill all our customers' needs. 1

Our business and service 1/ R & D and mold design As the necessary of technology development, we enhance the resource in R&D department since With the comprehensive experience and adequate training, we strengthen our productivity and the competition in reducing the tooling cost, shortening the production lead-time and adding the value of the products. 2/ Fabrication process and plastic injection We review the custom design for building the molds for plastic injections regarding the shrinkage and wrap issues during the production. 3/ Quality production leadtime and quality control Based on the precision moldings, we believe the production would be going smoothly. Also, we would analyze and minimize the noise from the gear or the products before shipment. We adopt the international level as the testing standard. 4/ On-time delivery 5/ Professional enquiry We will take a promptly response to the worldwide customers with profession technical support and solution for better cooperation. 2

Product MARSWELL mainly specializes in small module plastic gearing and gearbox, automated injection molding, and molds and moldings for any small, precision component. 1/ Small module plastic gear and gearbox Our small module plastic gear and gearbox range from 0.1M to 0.5M of tailor made gear. Plastic gears are capable of matching the high temperature, high power functionality of metal gears. It is an inexpensive solution. They can be applied for automotive, consumer electronics, healthcare, appliance, electric motors, toy, and gears for assembly, timing devices etc. 2/ Stock gear We standardized our stock gear mainly range from 0.3M to 0.5M. All gear is made by Acetal resin (POM). POM is good in strength of bending, low coefficient of friction, low noise level and outstanding anti- organic properties. They can be applied for DVDs, watches, toys, electronic appliances etc. It is short lead time and cost effective. The tooling cost is free for existing items and modifying of bore sizes. It leads quality and shortens production lead time for your product launching and promotion. For detail, please go to page 4 to 24. 3/ Planetary gear head The gearhead get reduction with high torque and low RPM (revolutions per minute) for loadcarrying capacity. It can be applied for some precision and micro systems, such as production automation, medical equipment, security devices and robotics etc. For detail, please go to page 25. 3

Reference material 1.1/ Basic geometry of Involute gear In general, we can imagine and understand the profile of involute teeth by using a cylinder. We can draw the involute curve by using a pencil which attached to the end of a taut string and unwinds from a cylinder. It is imagined that an end point of the string is pulled taut in one direction, then project its trace onto a plane that rotates with the base circle of cylinder. The mating of teeths can be understood by imagining two taut strings that unwind from cylinders separately. A moving intersection point formed along the tangent line of both base circles when the gear pair is rotating, as shown in figure 1a. This pair of involutes is conjugate because all points of contact having the common normal and tangent to their base circles. The tangent line of two base circle "line of contact" which passes through the line of centres establishes the pitch point P. This in turn sets the size of pitch diameters. 2

Reference material 1.2/ Gear formula of spur gear Basically, a mating gear pair must have the same module (m), which are measurements of tooth sizes (0.3m, 0.5m, 1m etc), as well as the same pressure angle. Outside diameter: d k = d 0 + 2m Pitch diameter: d 0 = Z x m Circular pitch: P c = x m where Z: No. of teeth m: Module in mm From the figure 1a, it is shown that the pitch diameters of mating gear are tangent to each others. Hence, we can determine the centre distance between any spur gears as shown in figure 1a. a = ( Z 1 + Z 2) m= d 01 + d

Reference material 1.3/ Gear train In order to find the revolution, speed and even the torque of the output gear, train value e is a most relevant data that we can find from the formula below: e = product of driving teeth numbers = N1 x N2 x N4 product of driven teeth numbers N2 x N3 x N5 nl = e x nf nl : speed of the last gear nf : speed of the first gear N : teeth numbers 28
