3 Introduction have developed a flat glass liquid level gauge to comply with the requirements of the Solas 1981 amendments. The reflex level gauges are of a modular concept and suitable for coloured and clear liquids. In these gauges a polyprismatic crystal (glass with shallow grooves) is used. The reading through this prismatic optic is indirect, the liquid appears in black and the gas element appears bright, thus defining the level of interface between the two, even for non coloured liquids, providing a quick and easy reference. Inval reflex level gauges are always fitted with a self-closing isolating valve at the lower end and a vent plug at the top. Two isolating valves may be fitted but it is essential that both valves are open to obtain the correct liquid level reading. If the centre to centre distance will cause a problem, remote controlled hydraulic operated self-closing isolating valves are available, actuated by an impulse unit placed in a convenient position. This enable the gauges also to be used in inaccessible places. The reflex glass level gauges are robust and the design is a combination of technical know-how and state of the art production methods. The strong, with CAD/CAM produced, stainless steel AISI 304 sections with their unique design are the heart of the level gauge and give the column a rigid construction. The heat-resistant borosilicate reflex glasses are housed in these robust stainless steel sections, fitted with stainless steel glass covers, U-bolts and cap nuts. The steel self-closing isolating valves, operated by either a push button, deadweight loaded or a hydraulic actuator, can be fitted on the bottom-connection and also on the top-connection of the level gauge. The valves are connected with hydraulic couplings to avoid leakage what can happen with a normal stuffing box. The level gauge is mounted to a standard bulk-head flange, welded into the fuel tank, no special adaptors or spare parts are required. The valves are executed with flanges according to DIN 2576, PN10 DN25 or 3/4 B.S.P.P. male threaded end and also available in stainless steel AISI 316 and upon request with other flange standards and connections. The gauges are designed to operate at 4 bar at 20 Celsius and hydraulically tested at 5,5 bar. The level gauges are suitable for cargo ship's tanks containing lubricating oil, fuel oil or other flammable liquids. The level gauges are available with three valve types and three executions in 258 standard lengths up to 6000 mm. 3

4 Technical information PN4 liquid level gauge, heat- resistant borosilicate glasses are housed in strong stainless steel sections. The steel self-closing valve is executed with 3/4 B.S.P.P. male threaded end or flanged according to DIN 2576 PN10 DN25. The valve is connected with hydraulic couplings to column and can be actuated by: A - push-button - B - hydraulic actuator - C - dead-weight loaded lever. Other flange standards and/or end connections upon request available.
