1 EDUARD NEWS IN OCTOBER 2009 October 9th, 2009 My cast is off, but it somehow hasn t diminished my lack of typing ability. Nevertheless, I hope you will find this newsletter of interest. I ve been thinking about what was newsletter-worthy for the month, and what would be worth my commenting on. E-day, Tamiya s new Spitfire, and new clips from Rammstein all come to mind. E-day, our traditional Czech model underground, went off suspiciously without a hitch. Hopefully, it s a sign of acceptance by all who visit the underground garage format of the convention. Despite anticipation, there was no fierce competition, either thanks to the disposition of the entrants, or perhaps because they had a greater distance between them. This was something that did worry me a tad, when my colleague Padar enlarged the square footage of the competition hall to the point where you couldn t see from one end to the other, and raised my blood pressure the night before. All for naught. The enlarged grounds contributed to the general success of the show, and is a format we will be continuing on with. I am now convinced that leaving the venue would also be a mistake. It is quite large and to some, rather impersonal, but a connection to our past is something our firms should never let go. Tamiya is releasing a 1/32nd scale Spitfire. It immediately set off speculation as to what this would do to the release of our announced project. My response is a definite yes, we will be releasing our Spit as well. Nothing changes from our end. Our concept of the model is quite different, and so is our pricing formula. I am certain that we will not lose our clients. Before we release our Spitfire, we will supply the Japanese kit with an impressive assortment of photoetched accessories. There are those that will claim that such a kit needs no aftermarket additions, but this is a mistake. Kits can always be built out of the box, but much as a beautiful woman wears jewelry, a beautiful model can benefit greatly from properly designed photoetched accessories. It s a law of nature. How is this connected to Rammstein? Even before I came across their incredible clip, I began to ponder the notion of shaking off the attack of the puritans, and return to a more thought provoking advertising campaign. There are still lingering memories of our lady, and not in a bad way, either. Let s face it, modeling adverts tend to be all the same, and somewhat boring.the same ol models, brass, decals, great paint, and all in all, everything A1 and complete. Complete? Completely sterile! KITS IN OCTOBER The Limited Edition BAC Lightning Mk.1A/Mk.2 in 1/48th scale was described last time, and today I d like to just add one thing. This kit will be the first one that will be Brassinated. It will include resin components within the upcoming EDUARD BRASSIN line, to include the seat and radar scope shroud. Other than that, it should be noted that neither the photoetched fret nor the decal sheet will disappoint, with both being well above the typical contents of our standard kits. The 1/48th scale Albatros D.V. is among our most successful kits, and it is time for its return, as a ProfiPACK kit. As has been the template for this line, the new edition offers five new color and markings options, photoetched fret and color instructions. The two 1/48th scale kits are accompanied by one 1/72nd scale kit, the Weekend Edition Nieuport 17.

During the redesign of the E-4 canopy, we also took the opportunity to confirm this part on the E-3. Stay tuned.. In the Limited Edition line, we will be releasing another Great War kit with figures and medal, this time in the form of the Fokker Eindecker with the figures of Oswald Boelcke and Max Immelman. This kit will round out the trio of similar kits in this style, along with the Fokker Dr.I and SPAD XIII. The third release for November will be a Weekend Edition in 1/72nd scale, this time the Albatros D.V.

4 PHOTOETCHED IN NOVEMBER A look ahead at November releases in photoetched brass is reminiscent of past times, when the majority of new sets were designed for armor kits in 1/35th. Even so, we won t be sitting back on other releases, and in November we will be plating three new kits that we received a larger then normal frequency of requests the Re 2002 from Italeri, and two F-16s for the Kinetic kits the F-16I SUFA and F-16DJ Block 40/50.
