3 WOW, what a start to the riding season it has been around here at Mother Road Harley-Davidson. Where do I even start? Let s see: 2013 Models are disappearing fast from the showroom. The new Slim Softail and the scorching hot Dyna Switchback haven t stuck around long. These two new models offer something for everyone. The Slim has a super low seat height and skinny tires with a bad to the bone simple design and the Switchback is perfect for lighter touring. Smaller framed riders seem to really gravitate to both models and the removable saddlebags and windshield on the Switchback make this model the best looking convertible that Harley has ever produced. Stop in today to check them out if they are still here. When you stop in, please help us welcome Jerry Coop Cooper from Lake Havasu who is our newest fun specialist. Coop comes to us from Southern California and worked in a dealership there as both a parts pro and a sales consultant so we are stoked to have his expertise on the sales floor. If you haven t heard, we are particularly proud of winning Harley-Davidson s Platinum Bar and Shield award (one of only six handed out in the country). This award is a culmination of our whole team s efforts of keeping you, our customer, happy and doing things the Harley way. To add to that, we just won an Andy Award here in Kingman for Business of the Year. This annual award is presented by the Kingman Chamber of Commerce and sets us apart as the most distinguished business for 2011/2012. Please help me congratulate our team on their awesome achievements. We also have a new Motorclothes Manager, Gretchen Graber. Andrea moved to Las Vegas to follow her heart and we all wish her the very best. Gretchen has some big shoes to fill so please welcome her to our family. Stop in and say hi next time you are in Kingman. Speaking of new, Faith and Terry are going to staffing our all new London Bridge Harley-Davidson Team. This new venture for us will be a state of the art Alternative Retail Outlet in Lake Havasu, under the London Bridge. The Island Mall is the home and we are down stairs next to the Makai Café. Hopefully by the time you read this, we will be open for business with a Grand Opening coming soon. I think that covers it for now, stop by July 14th for the Mother Road Boobie Patrol s BBQ. 4 Greetings, all of you HOG members! It's been great to see many of you out at our recent rides and events, and I hope you have been enjoying our excellent spring riding weather. With the 2nd. Quarter rides now behind us; the Officer group has put together an interesting and active schedule for the 2nd. Half of the year. This schedule has already been published and sent to you via or mail well in advance to accommodate your planning for the coming months. If you don't have a copy, let us know. It is also posted on the HOG bulletin board at the dealership, and will be updated with any changes on the website and bi-monthly in the newsletter. Our ride locations are selected based on your input, and on favorite past Chapter rides. We have mixed up the schedule to include both Saturday and Sunday rides, short and longer rides, and a couple of overnighters to try and accommodate a maximum number of everyone's available ride days. Some highlights from our 2nd. Half schedule includes rides to Whiskey Row at Prescott, the Blaz'in M Ranch in Cottonwood, and the Pioneer Saloon in Goodsprings. And, of course, don't forget our Multi-Chapter Horseshoe Tournament in October at MRHD. Although not an official Chapter event, the Patriot Flag Tour ride in July is an important and fun ride. We've had strong Chapter member participation in the past and would like to do so again this year. So, come on out and help escort the flag up to Las Vegas. The Arizona State HOG Rally took place in early June at Williams, AZ. We had (9) members meet and ride up together for the 4-day event, plus a few others who rode up later. With the bike games and events, our group ride to Sedona, the perfect weather, and an overall party atmosphere, everyone had a great time. Next year, the AZ Rally will move to Yuma in October. Let's plan to bring a record number of members to next year's Rally. Also, my thanks to all the current Officer group for all of their great work and participation in conducting Chapter business, and putting together our rides and events. Remember, the Chapter is for all members, and it's your participation in these rides and events that makes them a success. Hey, summer's here. Joe QUICK TIPS: General Guidelines For Riding A Motorcycle Safely Be visible: Remember that motorists often have trouble seeing motorcycles and reacting in time. Make sure your headlight works and is on day and night. Use reflective strips or decals on your clothing and on your motorcycle. Be aware of the blind spots cars and trucks have. Flash your brake light when you are slowing down and before stopping. If a motorist doesn t see you, don t be afraid to use your horn. Dress for safety: Wear a quality helmet and eye protection. Wear bright clothing and a light-colored helmet. Wear leather or other thick, protective clothing. Choose long sleeves and pants, over-the-ankle boots, and gloves. Remember the only thing between you and the road is your protective gear. Apply effective mental strategies: Constantly search the road for changing conditions. Use MSF s Search, Evaluate, Execute strategy (SEE SM ) to increase time and space safety margins. Give yourself space and time to respond to other motorists actions. Give other motorists time and space to respond to you. Use lane positioning to be seen; ride in the part of a lane where you are most visible. Watch for turning vehicles. Signal your next move in advance. Avoid weaving between lanes. Pretend you re invisible, and ride extra defensively. Don't ride when you are tired or under the influence of alcohol or other drugs. Know and follow the rules of the road, and stick to the speed limit. 4

As your Ladies of Harley officer for our HOG Chapter, I would like to invite you to come to our organizational meeting on Wednesday, July 17th at the Golden Corral in Kingman. The meeting starts at 6pm for dinner. I would like to see what you think of some ideas for meeting, get- togethers, and help plan some activities we might do for the coming fall season. We have reserved the Party Room for this evening in the restaurant (thank you Gina!). There will be a drawing for a basket of goodies for those ladies who attend. Dinner is on your own. The bike already had close to 100 thousand miles on it when we purchased it. While we both like the way the bike looked, I wanted to make it ours. We purchased a few small items like new buttons and a scuba diving sticker on the rear fender. This was not enough for me! This past winter I striped the bike down to the frame and put the engine in the house to rebuild the top end. We cleaned up the motor with a fresh coat of paint, Keith Black pistons and Revtech push rods. While the bike was down I got the bright idea to repaint the bike. The bike was a blue that would turn purple in the sun, I wanted to get rid of this color scheme altogether. The bike was repainted a medium blue with a blue flake clear coat and some simple tape line along the tank. Since the rebuild I have installed LED turn signals hidden under the saddle bags, HID head light, Yost power tube rebuild on the carburetor and a Kϋryakyn Hypercharger. The next items on the list to add to the bike are a set of ape handle bars, led accent lights, and a new seat. 6
