1 RENAULT CAR CLUB of QLD Happy Laps at Queensland Raceway Sunday 26August 2018 You can come in any safe, roadworthy car, but this Renault 4 CV Vernet Prairard, a 1953 Le Mans entry in the 750 class, although registered in France in its day, it would unfortunately, not be eligible for Happy Laps today. The humble runabouts below on the other hand, could be more fun on the track than you would credit them with. It doesn t have to be a Renault It doesn t have to be sporty It just needs to be safe and road registered.

2 At Happy Laps: *You get to drive on a race track for about half an hour and you get breakfast as well *You don t need a special racing licence and you can use your normal roadworthy car. You don t need a sporty car. *It is great fun. There s no easier or cheaper way to drive on the track! *You can even take passengers! *It is not at all scary! Why not give it a go? However, there are some rules: You must book a place. You can t just turn up! Only roadworthy road registered cars may participate. Cars must NOT have an after-market roll cage/bar fitted. You must NOT wear a helmet. You must NOT stop anywhere on the circuit. The Happy Laps session will be ended for EVERYBODY in the event of car to car contact, spins, excursions off the track, tyre smoking or any other evidence of over-driving. Speed is nominally limited to 120kph. You MUST attend the Driver s Briefing and obey the rules. Your entry fee buys a coloured wrist band, which gets you on the track and breakfast. Children under thirteen are free. Everybody must be drug free and alcohol free. You may be required to undergo breath or other drug testing. Everybody must wear a seatbelt to go on the track. Happy Laps is NOT a race or a flat-out sprint session! Drive at a speed where you feel comfortable and safe.

3 What you need to do now:- 1. a Sporting Sub-Committee member with a completed Self-Scrutineering Form R3 for each car. 2. You will be ed a unique Happy Laps Booking Number. You can then just turn up and pay on the day. (However, if you cancel and don t give enough notice, you are committed to pay!) The early bird* cost per adult for a coloured wrist band is:- RCCQ Members Others Breakfast only $30 $30 Breakfast and Track drive $30 $40 *After Wednesday 22 August, a late booking surcharge of $5 will apply. What you need to do on the day:- Bring your nominated registered, roadworthy car, your current road driver s licence and Happy Laps Booking Number. Be at Queensland Raceway not later than 7.00 am. At QR gate, say that you are part of the Renault Happy Laps group. Go to the group of Renaults to the left of the control tower am to 7.15 am approx. - Document check, purchase coloured wrist bands. (Wristbands are required to get breakfast &/or go on the track, even as a passenger) Breakfast will be from about 7.15am to 7.45am Attend the compulsory Drivers Briefing by QR officials at about 7.45am. At about 8.00am, we then have about 30 minutes on the track. You can then go straight home or stay to watch whatever is on. We suggest that you wear non-synthetic long sleeved and legged clothing, plus shoes with closed toes. We may be required to go on the track first and have breakfast later, so don t be late. Queensland Raceways is about 50km west of Brisbane at the end of Champions Way, off the Cunningham Highway about 5km south of Amberley refer UBD Map 251, ref A10.

I understand that the on-track activity at this Happy Laps day may involve my vehicle being driven at greater than usual speed and intensity and that normal roadworthiness standards may not be adequate. NOTE - Some important points to check are: Brakes Steering Suspension Wheels Tyres Fluids Battery Loose items Seat belts General Appropriate pedal pressure, fluid level, leaks, function etc (Renew brake fluid if possible) No undue play No undue wear Tightly bolted to hub, no significant damage or deterioration Street legal tread depth, remember to adjust pressures No undue fluid leaks Firmly mounted to the body No loose items in the interior, boot or engine bay Freedom from fraying and damage, fixings etc Examine all relevant items to ensure track-worthiness.
