8 PDS Functionalities & Progress for Coal Electrical Trackless Machines 1. VTP: Warn pedestrian and equipment operator. When people enter a predetermined zone set around the vehicle (warning zone) both the person and the operator are warned of close proximity to each other. ( June 67% - Sept. 67% ) 2. VTP: Slow down vehicles. If the person in the warning zone does not move out of the warning zone and enter a predetermined zone set around the vehicle (slow down zone) the vehicle will automatically be slowed down. ( June 28% - Sept. 28% )

9 PDS Functionalities: Electrical Coal Trackless 3. VTP: Stop vehicles. If the person in the slow down zone does not move out of the slow down zone and enters a predetermined zone set around the vehicle (stop zone) the vehicle will automatically be stopped. (28% - 28% ) 4. Data logging function that records date, time, speed and driver response. To be available on a 30 day rolling window.

11 Other/Future T&M Activities Continue with PDS Roll out Planning for 2 nd T&M Planning Workshop in 2014 in preparation to select a new leading practice Preparing for the 1 st planning Workshop for the opencast/ Open pit Operations in 2014

12 Coal Industry Challenges The Regulation for TMM s are in the process of being finalized T&M fatalities not reducing ( Mostly PDS VTP related ) Slow commitments from individual mines formalizing adoption decisions ( No visibility of adoption schedules at Mine Level ) COPA ( Community of Practice for Adoption ) established, but not supported.

13 The Way Forward Formalizing your mines adoption decision by signing commitment Forward Completed PDS MOSH Adoption plan to Chamber T&M Team they can then assist where needed Appointed PDS Adoption Champions to attend COPA Meetings to share and learn from other Industry members Establish Mine Adoption Team Adoption Progress report to SACMA
