2 DAY 1 TRAIN FROM PARIS TO MONTBARD ETD from Paris Gare de Lyon = 6h58 / ETA in Montbard = 8h03 8H30 TO 11H00 Visit of two manufacturing plants in Montbard Salzgitter Mannesmann Stainless Tubes France One of the largest varieties in the product range of seamless stainless steel and nickel alloy tubes and pipes: from small instrumentation tubing to large pipe sizes (outside diameters from a mere 6 mm to 250 mm with wall thicknesses from 0.5 mm up to 50 mm) in materials from standard austenitic stainless, duplex and super-duplex steels to highly sophisticated nickel based alloys and such offering highest corrosion resistance, heat resistance and high-temperature, high-strength materials For manufacturing, they use modern tube-making equipment in the following processes: - hot extrusion process, for hot finished tubes and pipes and mother tubes; - cold pilgering process,for high reduction of diameters, even with materials featuring difficult forming behavior. It produces a uniform fine-grain metallurgical structure and particularly favorable material characteristics An ongoing cycle of investments into the equipment ensures that they work according to the latest technical standards. The majority of products is exported to over 100 different countries for usage within plants, products and processes of many industry sectors: nuclear, chemical and petrochemical, energy and power generation, onshore and offshore oil and gas production.. Valinox Nucleaire Valinox Nucléaire is a wholly owned subsidiary of Vallourec Group, world leader in the field of tubes for power stations. Since 1974, the Montbard plant, located in the heart of the French nuclear component industry, produces U-bent tubes and various specialty tubular products made of stainless steels and nickels alloys exclusively for nuclear power stations using the pressurized water technology (PLWR-PHTR). The concern of electricity producers to extend power stations lifetime and to optimize their efficiency translates into increasingly demanding technical specifications for the tubular products. It has also completed a significant number of export contracts and has launched the first EPR in Finland that have made AREVA world leader. Nearly 600 heavy components (reactor vessels, steam generators, pressurizers and closure heads) have been manufactured or are currently being manufactured since the plant opened in Over 500 of these components are or will be installed in nuclear power plants in France. Nearly 100 of these components have been installed in or are currently being manufactured for plants in Belgium, Great Britain, South Korea, People s Republic of China, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland, Brazil, Finland and the USA. The plant is present on the international stage (in countries such as China, Brazil and Japan) not only through the components it manufactures, but also the technical assistance and technology transfer services it provides. The basic activities performed at Chalon/St Marcel are metalworking and heavy machining. These activities are carried out in strict compliance with nuclear safety rules. The plant is also involved: - upstream by adapting the design input from engineering to the production constraints and quality control requirements; - downstream by producing stress reports proving the component resistance to the specified in-service conditions. 3

4 CETIC test & maintenance center One of the major stakes in any NPP is to optimize operations of maintenance and repairs. To do so, EDF and AREVA, the French Parent Bodies Organizations (PBOs), have implemented a training centre to prepare site operations. The CETIC is a unique facility driving the French nuclear fleet to its performance.
