13 Operational responsability The IPP (Institute of Plasma Physics),is located in Hefei and reports to the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The institute is responsible for 75% of elements contained in ITER Chinese package.this institute has designed and constructed the EAST, an entirely supraconducting Tokamak (the first in the world) The SWIP (South Western Institute of Physics), located in Chengdu belongs to the China National Nuclear corporation (CNNC), and is responsible for supplying 25% of equipments of the Chinese ITER package

14 Distribution of elements supplying between the two institutes SWIP will supply : - Magnet Supports - Blanket First Wall - Blanket Shield - Gas injector Valve Boxes - Glow Discharge Cleaning - Conditioning System - Diagnostics : neutron systems IPP is in charge of: - Correction Coils - Feeders - Toroidal Field Magnet conductors - Poloidal Field Magnet conductors - Transfer Cask System - High Voltage substation Materials - AC/DC Converters - Diagnostics : Optical systems

15 EXISTING PARTNERSHIPS / PFCE The French association Partenariat France Chine Electricité is one the two plateforms put into place to develop a long term cooperation in China: Members are qualified suppliers of EDF Six have created JV in China Four have their own production site in China Twelve have local representative offices Two have exclusive representative in China Most of the members maintain contact with the Chinese market through trade missions twice a year in China. The association has its office in EDF Paris and a permanent representative (VIE) in EDF Asia Pacific Branch in Beijing.

16 EXISTING PARTNERSHIPS / GIIN French Nuclear Industry Association is the other platform aimed at developing partnerships between French and Chinese nuclear industry 200 companies A bilingual directory A permanent office in China with a permanent representative (VIE) A successfull communication during the last presidential visit: signature of a cooperation agreement with its chinese counterpart (CNEA, China Nuclear Energy Association, newly established)

17 AREVA Existing partnerships : some success and references for French big companies - Contract with CGNPC to construct 2 EPRs (nuclear islands) in Taishan + fuel cycle services. - Industrial partnerships (ex: JV between Areva-Jeumont and Dongfang since 2005 for the manufacturing of primary pumps) to be developed, especially in the field of engineering. EDF -Long term cooperation with CGNPC (Daya Bay, Ling Ao I&II), very interesting perspectives with regards to EPRs development in China. ALSTOM -Success of the partnership with Dongfang Electric with regards to conventional islands manufacturing.
