Tim Lambert, Principal of Texas Middle School, has been selected to represent the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals (TASSP) as the Region VIII Outstanding Middle School Principal of the Year. 2 PROFILES IN LEADERSHIP A T-TOWN TOP TEN NANCY SANDEFUR This week we lift up the memory of Nancy Sandefur in celebration of her life. Nancy was an amazing individual who exemplified what community leadership meant, devoting her talents and energies to every matter of endeavor that would enhance the fortunes of Texarkana USA... Nancy loved Leadership Texarkana and was one of the key figures in the organization s early days, hired in the late 70s to serve as the first curriculum director for this important initiative for ensuring our community s best future. But, as an outstanding community leader and lover of all things Texarkana, Leadership Texarkana was just one of many organizations for which she played instrumental leadership roles, including Opportunities, Inc., United Way of Texarkana, Texarkana Museums System, Junior League of Texarkana. Nancy and husband Ben Sandefur were honored with the C.E. Palmer Award in Fortunately for the rest of us, Nancy s sons Mike, Greg and Jeff carry-on the family tradition of community service. 1 2 THINGS TO DO IN TEXARKANA July 30-August 12, 2018 Texarkana USA s Exciting Interactive Scavenger Hunt Ready, set, go! Gather friends or family and get going! Here are the official rules for the Bending the Rules II: George Tobolowsky Outdoor Sculptures Interactive Scavenger Hunt. You ll find hints on the locations of each piece of public throughout the scavenger hunt; feel free to post locations you have found. Get up close and personal (except the roundabout sculpture) and share your impressions with the rest of us. Each of the nine sculptures have signs with QR codes to submit your entry or you can submit at visittexarkanadistrict.com Wild About Wellness SATURDAY, AUG. 11, 9 A.M.-12 P.M. Four States Fair Entertainment Center. Make sure your kids get those immunizations they need to get back to school, (don t forget your shots records and insurance information if you have any). Besides the opportunity for other health screenings, there will be games to play, bounce houses, some pretty great prizes to win, plus door prizes, free kid ID cards, Darby Games and more!
