The importance of the energy efficiency, air cleanliness and noise reduction, is increasing against a background of growing population, urbanization and climate changes. 13 Short Term and Long Term Plan Short Term Plan (1-5 Years) ATRC will identify the area which needs immediate attention Develop the basic infrastructure required for sub-system level research Students Participation in international competition ( PACE, BAJA,FSAE ) Minimum of 3 research paper publication in reputed Journals from each sub-group per year Association with TML, M&M,NATRip, SIAM, MBRDI, ARAI, Bosch, GMTCI, AltiGreen and VRDE Provide Corporate Training to OEMs /TIER1 Suppliers Long Term Plan ( > 5 Years) Minimum 10 Papers publication in reputed Journal from each sub-group MOU with 3-4 foreign universities / OEM for extensive collaborative research in emerging areas of Automotive Engg. Association with Governments (such as MoSRT&H and MoHI&PE) Full System level research ( in collaboration with OEMs / TIER1 supplier) Participation in Formula SAE International Competition Minimum of 4 Patents in year Upgradation of Faculty qualification 13

15 Power Train Road Map Powertrain Group will focus more on Green Mobility as mentioned below ICE-based Powertrains Focus on cross-cutting technology domains Fuels and energy carriers as well as Thermal and energy management. For ICE-based powertrains, collaborative research will concentrate on affordable design changes which increase efficiency and reduce emissions in engines for light and heavy-duty vehicles, including downsizing, advanced flexible combustion processes and alternative fuels supported by advanced after-treatment and efficient thermal management. EV-based powertrains, Priorities include lithium-ion and post-lithium-ion batteries, fuel-cell systems, hydrogen storage, improved electric drives, charging systems and concept demonstration, as well as electrification for heavy-duty vehicles. The final target is to meet customer/specifications and regulatory demands for lower fuel consumption and emissions whilst maintaining utility, performance and affordability of passenger and commercial vehicles 15

17 Road Map- Vehicle Styling and Aerodynamics Focusing more conceptual design on Compact Urban Commuter, Vehicle for elderly people, Autonomous car, Futuristic Sports Car and automotive interior and exterior Study the impact of various design parameters influences the performance of vehicle such as improving the fuel efficiency, reduction of Drag and etc. Setup the Test Facility of Wind Tunnel* with Turn- Table and Moving Road 17
