2 Program Committee Foreword Dr. Manfred Adolf BorgWarner Michael Frambourg Volkswagen Prof. Bernhard Geringer TU Wien Dr. Joachim Hahn BMW Dr. Kyung-Man Han Opel Dr. Günter Karl Daimler Dr. Ali Mohammadi Toyota Prof. Tobias Ruf Bosch Now that a CO 2 emission limit of 95 g/km has been set as mandatory by 2021, the next stage in tightening standards will represent an even greater challenge: a target of 70 to 75 g/km by 2025 is currently under discussion, and will require significant work to improve the efficiency of gasoline engines. In addition to combining downsizing and the Miller cycle with rising in-cylinder pressure, charge dilution concepts with residual gas or lean-burn engines are increasingly becoming the focus of interest. The use of CNG, produced using regenerative energy sources such as biomass or regenerative electricity, is also due to grow. Combined with high mean pressures and lean combustion, the use of green gas promises maximum efficiency with minimal CO 2 emissions. This, however, gives rise to extremely complex ignition conditions. Will traditional spark plug ignition systems be able to meet the demands of the future? We would like to invite you to discuss these key issues in the future development of the gasoline engine. On behalf of IAV and the conference committee, we cordially invite you to join the 3 rd International Conference on Ignition Systems for Gasoline Engines to be held on November 3 and 4 in Berlin! Dr. Thomas Schmidt Federal-Mogul Dr. Olaf Toedter KIT Dr. Peter Weyand Delphi Michael Günther IAV Marc Sens IAV

4 Venue and Hotel Ramada Hotel Berlin-Alexanderplatz Karl-Liebknecht-Straße Berlin Room rate: standard single room incl. breakfast 109 Alexanderplatz is the busiest square in central eastern Berlin. Known just as Alex by Berliners, it is not one of Berlin s most attractive locations, but is nevertheless an important commercial district and transport hub. Back in 1830, a wool market on Berlin s Alexanderplatz the eastern periphery of Berlin s central district, and lies just outside of the original city walls (no longer in existence). It was originally a cattle market (known as Ochsenmarkt, Oxen Market), around which a small but vibrant settlement known as Georgenvorstadt developed by the end of the 17th century. It was officially named Alexanderplatz on the occasion of a visit to Berlin by Russian Czar Alexander I on October 25, During the 19 th century, as Berlin grew outwards, the Alex became an increasingly important commercial district, and the opening of Alexanderplatz station in 1882 following the construction of the metropolitan railway line (and a nearby market hall served by the new railway) further cemented its popularity. To make a hotel reservation, please visit the Register section on the conference website ( where you can book online. Evening event on November 3 at Clärchens Ballhaus Let s enjoy the evening event in the unique atmosphere of Clärchens Ballhaus. The evening event offers an ideal setting in which to analyze the presentations, maintain networks and establish new contacts.
