The fun lasts until 4:00 p.m. Bring your Oldsmoble and join us for some fun! ARCHWAY OLDS CLUB YEAR END PICNIC On October 23 rd we will enjoy our end of the car show year by having a bar-b-que at the Greensfelder Shelter of Creve Couer County Park! Please plan to attend. The club will provide the bar-b-que meats and bread and at the October 2016 meeting a sign up sheet will be passed around for club members to sign up to bring their favorite dish. Plan to eat around 11:30 a.m. The earliest participants will arrive around 9:30 a.m. and the club has the spot all day. Remember to drive your Oldsmobile and bring the kids to play at the extensive playground. August Meeting Minutes August 9th 2016 Guests: Terrence 69 olds Delta 88. Ryan with Cutlass. The club wants to know Kevin how is Adam doing? How is Diana doing? Is Adam ready for school yet? New acquisitions: Janet found a BLUE on BLUE with white top 442! A sympathy card was signed for club member Jeanne Simpson who last her father last week. OLD BUSINESS We SURVIVED the 12th annual Memories on Main Street Car Show. 3 President s Message Good Day folks! All is calm. Please keep Gerry Davis, Ed Davis, Kathy Clemons, and Rick Clemons in your daily prayers please. These members are having health problems and can use your support. Cheryl Glass is doing better after her encounter with a car earlier this year while she was walking with her friend. Both got hit by a car while walking early morning. Cheryl's friend never did recover. I apologize if I have not included someone. Again please keep these members in your daily prayers. Your health is everything folks. I should mention this as many has brought this up recently. At the OCA Nationals this year at Kingsport Tennessee the Bardle family made camp at the swap meet area. If you walked the swap meet you could not miss their camp. Many, many members mentioned how friendly this family was and invited you to drink with food and a resting chair all day long in front of a fan for relief. Thanks goes out to all the Bardle's and friends who made our club members feel welcome at their location in the swap meet area. Personally I believe Janet is a breath of fresh air. The welcome mat was out for all to experience. Memories on Main Street Car Show has come and gone. It was a beautiful day in the mid 80's. We had 170 cars to be judged and 50 cars displayed. Everything went well with no complaints. That's two years in a row, no complaints as we are on a roll here. I wish to thank all those who worked this show to make this a successful event. Kerry was happy with our efforts. Gateway Buick Club was there to help us with the judging again this year so thank you to the Gateway Buick Club. Again thank you all who supported the club this day. Quad States 36th Car Show and Swap Meet is on September 8th -10th at Isle of Capri Hotel/Casino Bettendorf, Iowa. Registration has closed but we have many members attending so this should be Huge. For those who have not committed come up and visit us this weekend. I understand its a 4 to 5 hour drive depending on stops. Come on up! Saturday September 17th RODS on the RIVER Car Show at Polestar Marina, 6171 Hwy V, St. Charles, MO This is a beautiful location, food, drink and music. Prizes awarded for the top 3 car club participation. $ st, $ nd and $ rd place. Top 90 cars receive trophies (no classes) This sounds very interesting members. Let's GO! NEXT DAY Sunday September 18th Gateway Buick Club is hosting Shriners Benefit Car Show at the Moolah Shrine Center Fee Fee Road This is the same location as years past. As I always mention that the Buick folks help us at our car show I think we should return the favor and show up and help them at their car show. It's only fair right? Show up when you can. You can enter your car in the show but you cannot judge your class. Please consider reciprocating the good gesture and helping our sister club this day. President s Message cont. on next page 2

4 President s Message (cont.) President s Message cont. from previous page NEXT SUNDAY September 25th there is something called the 79th annual All Oldsmobile Fun Show. This is held at the Museum of Transportation. Same Oldsmobile time, same Oldsmobile location as always. Sounds provided by the famous Best Sounds. Rain or shine event. Bring your Oldsmobile any condition and have some fun kids. Free entry is available to the museum this day. Saturday October 15th the Spirit of St. Louis Region of the Classic Car Club ( that's a mouth full ) has invited our club to attend to drive the back roads to Ste. Genevieve. The participants will tour the Crown Valley Tiger Sanctuary with large kitties. A tasting of Fizzy Izzy Root Beer Tasting will follow. Then comes a Winery Tour and Tasting. We encourage you to drive your Oldsmobile's this day and the fall foliage should be good on a relaxing day on the side roads. If you plan to attend come to the next meeting to sign the attendance sheet or contact Shannon Olson to RSVP you attending. Maybe we can get more Oldsmobile's there than Classic Car Club again. You want me to place a bet again? We can donate the money to the Tiger Sanctuary? We would not want to outdo the Classic Car Club again right? LAST CALL, Saturday October 22nd the JWO Editor is organizing a photo shoot for the cover of the next years May JWO issue cover page and center fold out. Guys remember those days of old center fold outs? This cover shoot will include first responders. Swat, Police, EMS, Firemen, Canine teams, and such this day with equipment with our Oldsmobile's included. When was the last time you could get your car on the cover and center fold out in a national magazine? Well here's your last call to get yourself included. Time is running out. Contact Shannon Olson to reserve your space in the photo. Gerald Burns will be the JWO photograph representative this day. Location will be North County Sioux Passage Park Florissant at the rear boat ramp parking lot at 8:30 AM. OH, Donuts. SAME DAY after this photo shoot then drive across town with your Oldsmobile's to the Save the Water Tower at Millstadt Illinois just East of Columbia Illinois on Hwy 158 East. Millstadt is a small town trying to save the historic water tower and you could be a part of this. It starts at 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM. with an entry fee of $20.00 with custom trophies. Again the famous Best Sounds will be DJing this day. Please consider including this activity this day. Bring your Oldsmobile out for display at a Mertz Ford Dealership. Archway Oldsmobile Annual picnic being held Sunday October 23rd. The location is the same as in years past. Creve Couer park at the Greensfelder Pavilion on top of the hill off of Dorsett and marine intersection. Club furnishes the main dish, meat and members bring a pot luck dish to complete the picnic. Arrive around 10:00 AM and if good weather drive your Oldsmobile's. We will discuss this event at the next club meeting for further details. This is a rain or shine event as we have a pavilion for protection with fireplace for warmth is needed. Please plan to attend this relaxing day. That was the largest class at this event. Thanks to everyone for all your time and talent judging this day to make this a successful event on time. I want to thank the Gateway Buick Club for their assistance. They all worked very hard. We had 46 members and friends from Archway Club and Buick had 10 members assisting us. 168 cars were judged and 48 displayed. That is more than last year. Every year the club uses the Masonic Hall of Troy and we donate to the Masons for using their hall for the day OCA Nationals at Kingsport, Tennessee hosted by the Music City Rockets and the Dixie Olds Club. Gene had the best time ever at this event. Gene had a couple of folks notice how many Archway Oldsmobile Club people were around with all wearing club stuff. We had 37 members there NEW BUSINESS The Zone Directors will get club members an update of what happened at the 2016 Board of Directors meeting representing the Oldsmobile Club of America Quad States Regional Car Show September 9th and 10th in Bettendorf Iowa at the Isle of Capri Casino/ Hotel. Registration has closed but you can always go up and enjoy the weekend with the rest of us. Sat. Sept. 17th RODS on the RIVER Car Show at Polestar Marina. Don spoke about the event and fliers were passed around. Prizes are awarded for the top 3 car clubs attending this day. Please consider attending this cool car show. It has a Edelbrock Performer intake manifold with a Holley 4165 carburetor, mechanical secondaries, GM HEI distributor with adjustable vacuum advance, MSD multiple discharge electronic ignition. The block squared and aligned honed with torque plate with forged pistons balanced to zero grams. Also has a competition 260 Cam advanced 4 degrees with offset bushings and steel timing chain. The interior is original with bench seat in very good condition. It was repainted the original color Covert Beige with polyurethane clear coat. New Goodrich Radial TA tires on Weld Rodlite 15X7 forged alloy wheels. Location at North County Sioux Passage Park, Florissant- Back Boat Ramp/king Lot. Shannon talked about this event and a signup sheet was pass around. This is a rain or shine photo shoot. One chance to get your car on the JWO cover. Same day, later in the afternoon, Save the Water Tower Classic car Show on the other side of the city at Millstadt, Illinois at Mertz Ford Dealership. Starts at 11:00 a.m. and goes till 3:00 p.m. The entry fee of $20.00 with custom trophies. Fliers were sent around. The BEST Sounds in town will be there entertaining. Shannon spoke about the St. Genevieve Car cruise to wine country? Gene passed around few fliers about this event. Archway Annual Picnic being held on October 23rd this year.same location at Creve Couer Park at Greensfelder pavilion location. the Club furnishes the meat and members bring pot luck dishes to complete to picnic.
