2 From the President GROUNDHOG DAY Well I don t put much stock into him seeing his shadow, it s still cold. Just hoping we don t have a repeat of last years ice storm. The last several meetings we have had several new members join our club, please take time to introduce yourself. Its nice to see our club grow. At our last meeting we voted to move our meeting from the first Thursday to the first Tuesday of the month.this change will not fit everyone and we can discuss it more at our meeting. Pizza Central s new private dining room will be ready for us, it holds 55. It will nice and sorta quiet and we can talk more openly. Once again history was made at the Barrett- Jackson auction, the very first Shelby GT350R was sold for a cool MILLION. Ford donated as in the past all the money to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.The high bid came from an online bidder, very exciting to see! Our National Show is coming FAST, have you pursued any sponsorships? We as a club have a huge stake in making this the best show of the year. At our last National Show on 07, we had entries from 28 states and looking for more this year. Every member can help, it s a lot to do and the witching hour is coming fast. See ya soon, Don PAGE 2

3 From the Editor Zafera Aaron Happy New Year, everyone! Can you believe that we are pretty much into February already? Time flies! Which also means that the National Show is right around the corner. May will be here before you know it. We had great committee meeting about the National Show, but it shows how much there is left to do before the big event. I hope everyone can give a few hours of their time to help out, since I know it will take the whole club to make it great! I m looking forward to it! Remember, send me your classifieds or other news! 4 From the MCA Regional Director Mike Anchor Update on the Gateway Southern Stampede: We are less than 4 months away from the big weekend! We are continuing to receive registrations for the show on a daily basis. We do, however, still need ad sponsors for our show program, trophy (associate) sponsors (we ask that each membership solicit 2 of these sponsors at $100 each), vendors, and show volunteers. If you know of anyone who wishes to place an ad in the show program, the deadline for having the ad ready and sent to the program publisher is April 30. Please make sure that you advise potential ad sponsors of the deadline. The logo for the ad is to be supplied by the sponsor and must be ready for publication. If anyone has any questions, please contact me. We also need door prize/silent auction items, so please ask those that you conduct business with if they can donate items for those two things. Please make sure that you pay your club dues and that we have all your correct information on file, to include your MCA number (if a member of the MCA). I will be sending the MCA a membership roster, as required by MCA charter rules. I need to do this by Feb. 15, so please make sure that I have all the correct information by then. If you are not an MCA member, I would strongly urge you to join. The MCA supports the hobby in numerous ways, and there are several benefits available to MCA members. 5 Ford News & Notes Shelby Launches 627hp 2015 Shelby GT Just days after the reveal of the GT350R, Mustang fans have a whole new pony car to covet. Based on the 2015 Mustang GT, the Shelby GT takes the potent 5.0L V8 and tops it with a Ford Racing supercharger. Combined with a Ford Racing Borla exhaust, the 5.0L cranks out almost 200 additional horsepower. The 627hp output is just a handful shy of the recently discontinued GT500. It s not just horsepower that Shelby brings to the table, the Shelby GT moniker has been a harbinger of performance on the road course, so the Shelby GT package also means upgraded shocks, springs, and sway bars along with staggered Michelin rubber, 275/35/20 on the front and 305/30/20 rear mounted to 9.5x20 and 10.5x20 Shelby Venice wheels by WELD Racing. The Shelby GT will also receive a full complement of carbon fiber bodywork including: a hood with customizable hood vents, front splitter, rocker panels, two-piece rear diffuser, rear deck lid, trunk spoiler, mirror covers, and a hood extension. Of course, the car will also wear Shelby badging on the deck lid, grille, fenders, and C-pillar. Inside you ll find Shelby branded custom headrests, dash plaque, and engine plate, along with carbon fiber dash pod with 3 gauges, Shelby GT sill plates, and Shelby branded floor mats. It s a beauty! 6 FORD News & Notes Shelby s Cobra to end all Cobras sells at Barrett- Jackson for $5.1 million At this point, the Shelby/AC Cobra is kind of like Sasquatch; people always talk about it, but few have ever seen the real thing in the wild. And if they have, it was probably a kit car or a guy in a monkey suit. The Cobra was originally produced in the 1960s, and of all the models to see the road, the legendary 427 Super Snake is arguably the most venomous. Only two Super Snake variants were ever made. One example, wearing VIN CSX3015, started out as a nonstreet legal 427 Cobra Competition roadster in 1966, which had its mufflers, windshield, bumpers, and other non-essential parts removed for track duty. In Super Snake guise, the vehicle gained back its road legal parts, but retained its racing rear end, brakes, headers, and of course the Twin Paxton Superchargers that bumped total output to 800 horsepower. CSX3015 was just sold for a whopping $5.115 million at the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale auction. It still has the original body, aluminum hood, headers, 377 rear end, and the factory date stamp on the engine block. It even wears the original Guardsman Blue finish, although it was hidden under two layers of additional paint for some time. The other Super Snake built, CSX3303, was converted from a non-competition 427 roadster and given to Carroll Shelby s good friend, Bill Cosby. After the comedian drove the car for the first time, he found that it simply had too much power to pilot safely. He returned it to Shelby, and eventually the vehicle found its way to another customer named Tony Maxey. Unfortunately, the CSX3033 Super Snake was too extreme for Maxey as well, who lost control of the 800-hp, 2300-ish-pound muscle car and drove it off a cliff. Both car and driver sadly perished in the Pacific Ocean. The Shelby Cobra 427 Super Snake is an exceptional car with an exceptional story, and an exceptional price tag to go with it. As Barrett-Jackson states, Carroll Shelby built [it] at a time when Americans were just Americans and proud to be Americans. Whether or not that s changed, it was a simpler car for a simpler time, and a striking reminder of how much cars have changed over the years. Let s just hope the new owner is careful with it! PAGE 6

10 YUK, YUK!!!! Two rednecks go on a fishing trip. They rent all the equipment - the reels, the rods, the wading suits, the rowboat, the car, and even a cabin in the woods!they spent a fortune! The first day they go fishing, but they don't catch anything. The same thing happens on the second day, and on the third day. It goes on like this until finally, on the last day of their vacation, one of the men catches a fish. As they're driving home they're really depressed. One guy turns to the other and says, "Do you realize that this one lousy fish we caught cost us fifteen hundred bucks?" The other guy says, "Wow! Then it's a good thing we didn't catch any more!" A man absolutely hated his wife's cat and decided to get rid of him one day by driving him 20 blocks from his home and leaving him at the park. As he arrived home, the cat was walking up the driveway. The next day he decided to drive the cat 40 blocks away. He took him out of the car and headed home. Driving back up his driveway, there was the cat! He kept taking the cat further and further, but the cat would always beat him home. At last he decided to drive a few miles away, turn right, then left, past the bridge, then right again and another right until he reached what he thought was a safe distance from his home and left the cat there. Hours later the man calls home to his wife: "Jen, is the cat there?" "Yes", the wife answers, "why do you ask?" "I'm lost, he says, "and I need the cat to give me directions home." On a rural road a state trooper pulled this farmer over and said: "Sir, do you realize your wife fell out of the car several miles back?" To which the farmer replied: "Thank God, I thought I had gone deaf!" PAGE 10
