2 PRQ LS SERIES The name has always been synonymous with excellence in air starting systems. From new and remanufactured starters to repair kits, original parts and components, The brand is unequaled in the industry in terms of performance, reliability and quality. The line of air and gas starters offers features and benefits that are unique to the industry. All PRQ Vane starters are lubeless, their vanes are made of a high tech material that reduces wear and allows operation with or without lubrication.** All PRQ LS Series are lubeless. The PRQ LS-8 Series has over 60 models* available to fi t both the domestic and import small engine markets. All PRQ LS-23/24 are available with inertia or preengaged drives. High-tech vane material. Reduces wear, allows operation without lubrication. Non-corrosive rotor sleeves. Special coating on aluminum rotor sleeves on LS-8 Models. Stainless steel sleeves used on LS-16, LS-23/24, and LS-60/61. Rugged Construction. Rotor and shaft design provide higher torque potential and longer life than common two pieces designs. Mounting Flexibility. All housings can be independently positioned with respect to each other. *Note: PRQ LS-8 starters are developed as new engines are released to the market. **Note: Lubrication is optional on LS Series for Diesel Engines. For lower pressure starting or cold weather starting it is recommended that you use lubrication. Lubrication is required on all starters for natural gas engines and all engines with long crank cycles. PRQ-SM SERIES Startmaster Air Starters are now identified as the PRQ SM Series. This well established product line offers unique feature that complement the PRQ LS series. The PRQ SM-250 and SM-251 are available in pre-engaged and pre-engaged overhung models. They fi t both Domestic and European engines and incorporate a built in relay valve which simplifies installations. The positive blade displacement feature eliminates freeze ups by mechanically positioning the rotor blades into the air-stream. The PRQ SM-500 Series develops 75 hp and 230 ft. lbs. of torque that will crank diesel engines up to 10,000 cu. in. The twin air motor design provides high efficiency, and the simplicity of design makes for easy servicing. All SM Series have positive blade displacement feature built into both motor end plates that forces the rotor blades in their proper positions to ensure reliable starting. All SM Series are available for natural gas and includes gas-tight shaft seals. All SM Series are lubeless** PRQ SM-250 & SM-251 Built in relay valve and automatic lubricator Integral muffl er available. Pre-engaged drive. PRQ SM-251 Pre-engaged, overhung drive. 3 STARTING SYSTEMS THE PRQ TS SERIES The PRQ TS series air and gas starter for gas turbine engines has a wide range of torque for various starting requirements. Starters for gas turbine engines. Pre-engaged dentil drives. Separate drive inserts. Less airflow required than turbine starters. Designed for maximum mounting fl exibility, housing may be independently positioned with respect to each other. THE PRQ HS SERIES The PRQ HS series has been designed for the oil and gas service industry. Gear type hydraulic motors. Sold with or without hydraulic motors. Heavy-duty friction clutch, inertial starter drives. Sizes to fi t most popular engines. 3

4 LS-8 FOR ENGINES UP TO 400 CID (6.5 LITERS) DIESEL 800 CID (13.10) GAS Combines power and reliability in a simpler, compact design. Fewer parts in motor section. Drive section uses smallest air starter inertia drive available which is pinned directly to the arbor shaft. For small engine mounting, this starter can be indexed at 40 increments at the motor and additional 60 increments at the drive. Torque (Lb. Designed to tolerate fi eld conditions that would imbalance higher RPM, turbine type air starters. Operated with interchangeable gears controlling starter cutout speed. Eliminates oil fi lled, planetary gearbox required with high-speed starters. Simplifi ed operations Maintenance-free, pre-engagement is standard. Separated drive inserts are interchangeable and may be ordered for most applications. Designed for high RPM, long-duty cycles and extended life with proprietary high performance vanes. Maximum breakaway torque highly effi cient, vane type air motor uses less air fl ow and provided more breakaway torque than turbine type starters. Designed for maximum mounting fl exibility. Housings may be independently positions with respect to each other. Exhaust may be rotated to any one of 12 positions unlike the conventional, single direction starters.
