Like Energy all igus Chain Systems, Triflex R ensures optimal cable performance by preventing cables from bending beyond the minimum bend radius. The modual design enables cables and hoses to be segmented, therefore optimizing service life and maintenance time on robotic applications. 3 Triflex R: Installation Systems Triflex R Igus has created several installation options designed to optimize your robotic movements. These options were created with distinctive accessories to benefit your application. Standard Installation System The standard system is designed for basic light duty movements around the robot arm and applications requiring no accessories or additional support. 4 Triflex R Triflex R: Standard Installation System igus Energy Chain System This system is designed for robotics applications that do not have extreme work envelopes and have the room for cable movement within the work area. The system is attached to the robot with intermediate and integrated strain relief brackets. 5 Triflex R: Interior Support System Triflex R This system is designed to support the carrier parallel to the 4th axis of the robot, eliminating the need for excess r carrier a cable o loop. See page 8.11 for details. The Interior Support System includes: A fiber rod assembly, comprised of two fiber rods installed in a specified length of Triflex R A Universal Installation Kit A length of free moving links to rotate around the 6th axis Installation Tips Attach the Universal Installation Kit to the predetermined holes on the robot Install the mounting bracket with the integrated tiewrap plate to the 6th axis Join the free moving links to the fiber rod assembly Install the fiber rod assembly to the brackets on the Universal Installation Kit Position the ball portion of the Triflex R towards the 6th axis Always strain relieve the one end of the cables and hoses Sections join together using the ball-and-socket design, which enables movements in all axis. 6 Triflex R Triflex R: Exterior Support System igus Energy Chain System This system is designed for extreme robotic applications with a wide range of motion and reach. The exterior support (FlexBar) is made of a high-tech composite material and can be mounted in various positions using the Universal Installation Kit. The high pull force back prevents the formation of excecss cable loops on the 6th axis. See page 8.12 for details. The Exterior Support System includes: Universal Installation Kit Exterior support (FlexBar) Mounting bracket without integrated strain relief suspended from the FlexBar Installation Tips Attach the Universal Installation Kit to the predetermined holes on the robot Place the FlexBar in the provided clamp Adjust the angle of the FlexBar to the desired pretension Place the free moving Triflex R in the mounting bracket suspended from the FlexBar Attach Triflex R to the 3rd axis of the robot 8.6

7 Triflex R: Triflex RS System Triflex R This system is designed for robotic applications with limited space and small work areas at the end of arm tooling. Triflex is equipped RS with an integrated fiber rod that retracts the Triflex R chain, keeping cables and hoses close to the 4th axis of the robot away and from the work area. The Triflex RS System is shipped and installed in one piece for easy installation. See page 8.13 for details. This can reduce torsion or it can create pre-tension in specific target areas to keep Triflex R out of work areas. 17 Triflex R: Selection and Filling Triflex R When filling Triflex R, sufficient clearance needs to be provided for all electric cables, pneumatic and media hoses, in order to compensate for forces from relative motion between the cables and hoses. Separating - TRC-60, TRC-70, TRC-85, TRC-100 Insert a screwdriver into the opening of the socket from the top. Then twist apart, counterclockwise. Separating - TRE-60, TRE-70, TRE-85, TRE-100 Insert a screwdriver into the opening of the socket from the top. Then twist apart, counter-clockwise. Separating - TRE-30, TRE-40 Bend the cable carrier into it s radius and twist apart, counterclockwise.
