April 2007 APPLICATION: INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS MODEL NO THE GLIDER 5th Wheel Attachment For use on short bed pickup applications US Patent No COMPLETE PARTS LIST Part Description Quantity Upright Assembly (2) Short Latching Rod (1) Long Latching Rod (1) Outer Tube (1) Handle Assembly (1) Compression Spring (1) /4-20 x 1-1/2 Hex Bolt (3) /4-20 Hex Flange Locknut (3) /8" Flatwasher (1) Tube Cover (4) The Glider is to be used only on 5th wheel trailers which weigh 16,000 lbs. Never use on heavier trailers. You will need to dis-assemble the uprights from your current 16K 5th wheel hitch to install the Glider. The Glider takes the place of these uprights. CAUTION: The Glider will reposition your 5th wheel hitch 9" rearward. HOWEVER this will NOT guarantee complete truck cab/trailer clearance when towing 1. Before beginning assembly of the Glider, check the base rails in your truck to be sure they are properly installed and are parallel with each other. The diagonal dimensions "X" and "Y" should be within 3/16" of each other. See Illustration 1. With the base rails correctly positioned the assembled Glider will drop into the slots on the top surface of the bed rails. 2. Check all of the parts from kit against the Parts Include section found on this instruction sheet, to identify the parts for easier assembly. Measure the 5th wheel head width. See Illustration 1a. Record the end to end dimension here. It will be needed later on in the assembly of the Glider. ILLUSTRATION 1 ILLUSTRATION 1A

ILLUSTRATION 2 3. Grease the end of the the short latching rod #2 and slide into the 5 hole side of one of the upright assemblies #1. The latch pin should also be greased. See Illustration 2 for all locations needing to be greased. 3a. Place the latch pin into one of the locking holes in upright assembly. Place the large flatwasher #9 and the compression spring #6 on the end of the rod that extends through the inner side of the upright assembly. Slide the outer tube #4 onto the rod so that it compresses the spring and the attachment holes line up in the outer tube and the short latching rod. Loosely bolt parts together with the 1/4" fastener #7 and #8. See Illustration 3. ILLUSTRATION 3 4. Refer to the head width dimension recorded in Step 2. Insert the long latching rod #3 into the outer tube #4. Position rod so that the correct hole is aligned with the end hole in the outer tube. See Illustration 3a. Loosely bolt securely in place with 1/4" fastener #7 and #8, supplied with kit. This will give the correct spacing for your 5th wheel head assembly. 5. Place the assembled upright onto the driver side of the installed base rails and pin in place with hitch pins supplied with base rail kit. See Illustration 1 for correct slot use. 6. Grease the latch pin and free end of the latching rod which is connected to the drivers side upright assembly. Slide it onto the remaining upright so that the latch pin inserts into one of the locking holes. Tabs on upright rail assembly should position into passenger side slots in base rail where they are pinned in place. Check to be sure unit is centered on base rails. ILLUSTRATION 3a BASE RAIL HITCH PIN ILLUSTRATION CAUTION Be sure that all the base rail hitch pins are positioned as shown on Illustration to the right. The hitch pin must be in this position so that it doesn t interfere with Glider operation.

7. Remove the center pivot pin from the cross member of the 5th wheel hitch assembly. Remove the hitch head with yoke from cross member. Place the 5th wheel cross member over the upright assemblies and bolt in place. NOTE: Use the same bolt holes in the end U-brackets of the cross member when bolting to the Glider upright assemblies. Hitch head will be at the same height as it was on the original 5th wheel installation. Tighten the 1/2" attachment bolts to 75 ft. lbs. torque. 8. Attach handle assembly #5 to latching rod, extending out of the driver side upright assembly, using the remaining 1/4" fastener #7 and #8. See Illustration 5. Pull handle out and rotate so latching pin is between the locking holes. Glider should move smoothly fore and aft on rails. NOTE: To minimize possible vertical lift in the upright and head assembly, each upriht has a pair of adjustment set screws which are factory set for minimal clearance. However, if the set screws need to be adjusted, loosen the lock nut and turn set screw in until it makes light contact with the support tube. Turn set screw back out 1/8 turn and re-tighten the lock nut. Be certain locknut is tight so setscrew will not back out. Use a 3/16" allen wrench to turn the set screws. Glider should roll easily fore and aft. Set screws should not drag on support tube. 9. If unit binds the uprights may be tilted or the side rails are not parallel. Double check that bed rails are square and parallel as shown on Step 1. Also, if one of the uprights is tilting, shim with a 1/2" washer as shown on Illustration 6. (1/2" flat washers are in the crossmember hardware kit). NOTE: BOTH PINS MUST ME FULLY ENGAGED FOR SAFE OPERATION OF THIS UNIT. Refer to Illustration 5 Reinstall the yoke and 5th wheel head into cross member. Grease the center pivot pin before inserting it through holes in cross member and yoke. Secure pivot pin with 5/16" safety pin and slotted nut. 10. With both latch pins fully engaged, uprights shimmed and bolted to cross member now, tighten all 1/4 x 20 bolts and nuts until the outer tube is crushed down onto the latching rods. 11. Check the ends of each outer tube to be sure the tube cover #10 is pressed firmly in place. Your Glider is now ready for operation. See OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS on back page ILLUSTRATION 4 ADJUSTMENT SET SCREWS ILLUSTRATION 5 ILLUSTRATION 6

June 2008 INSTALLATION, OPERATION & MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS MODEL NO Please be sure that this document is given to the end user of this procduct. This contains many important items relating to the proper usage of this product. IMPORTANT NOTICE This is an RV 5th wheel hitch. Use of this hitch for COMMERCIAL trailer towing will limit the hitches warranty to 1 year COMPLETE PARTS LIST Part Description Quantity Head Assembly (1) Handle Assembly (1) Cross Member Assembly 3-3/4" wide (1) Pivot Pin Assembly 4-3/16" long (1) Upright Assembly (2) /4" x 1-1/2" Hex Screw (1) /4" Flange Locknut (1) /2" x 4-1/2 Hex Bolt (4) /2" Lockwasher (4) /2" Hex Nut (4) /2" x 4-1/2" Rail Hitch Pin (4) Hair Pin (4) Safety Snap Pin (1) Safety Pin Assembly (1) Rubber Bumper (not illust) (2) Yoke (1) Yoke Bushing (2) /4" -10 x 2-1/2 Hex Bolt Gr. 5 (2) /4" Wide Flatwasher (2) /4" Nylon Lock Nut (2) Shim (4) 16,000 Maximum Trailer Weight 4,000 Vertical Load Weight

BEFORE BEGINNING INSTALLATION: Be sure that the loaded trailer weight does not exceed 16,000 lbs. or the vertical load rating does not exceed 4000 lbs. Be sure that the weight of the loaded trailer does not exceed the truck manufacturers trailer towing or payload capacities. Use only a 2" king pin with this 5th wheel hitch. The installed position of the 5th wheel hitch is critical relative to the distance from the cab so that the front of the trailer does not make contact with the cab when turning. On most applications, the distance from the back of the truck cab to the center of the trailer king pin should be 4" greater than 1/2 the width of the trailer. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS 1. The 5th wheel hitch is packaged in two cartons. The 7045 or 7055 bed rail kit, is a separate item and is not included with the hitch. Unpack all parts and compare them with the illustrated packing list andinstallation instructions. 2. Place the two bed rails across the truck bed between the wheel wells. Position the uprights #5 between the bed rails so that the tab in the base upright will fit into the slots in the ends of the bed rails. Secure the uprights in place with the rail hitch pins #12 and hair pins # Go to the bed rail and custom install bracket kit instructions, to install the bed rails. 4. Determine the height of the head assembly. This height should be set so that there is 5"-6" minimum clearance between the bottom of the trailer overhang and the top of the truck box. More clearance may be needed if travel over uneven roads is expected. Bolt the cross member assembly #3 between the uprights at the correct height. Tighten all 1/2" bolts to 75 ft. lbs. torque. If pin placement in base rail is tight, it may be necessary to place one of the 1/2 Flatwasher shim #21 between the cross member and the upright at each attachment bolt. See Illustration A. 5. Place the head assembly into channel in cross member #3. Align hole in yoke with hole in cross member and secure with pivot pin #4 and safety pin #13. Check the height of the hitch head to be certain that there is the required 5" to 6" minimum clearance between the bottom of the trailer overhang and the top of the truck box. Make any adjustments as needed to obtain this clearance. 6. Attach the handle assembly #2 on the rod located on the left side of the hitch head assembly #1. Align holes in handle with holes in rod and bolt in place with the 1/4" hex screw #6 and the 1/4" flange locknut #7. You are now ready to hook up your 5th wheel trailer. See the "Trailer Hook Up Instructions" on the following pages.

TRAILER HOOK UP INSTRUCTIONS FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS FOR EACH HOOK UP 1. Before connecting trailer to the hitch, the safety pin must be removed from the locking bracket and handle. Be sure that the handle has moved completely inward and the jaw is closed. If handle is out, jaw is open. To close, push the handle rearward and inward. the spring tension should pull the handle into the closed position. 2. Adjust the trailer height so that the king pin plate is approximately 1/2" below the 5th wheel plate on the hitch. The ramps leading into the king pin box will pick up the trailer as the truck backs under the trailer king pin. 3. Lower the tailgate on the truck. Be sure that the trailer wheels are properly blocked, front and rear. 4. Carefully back the truck under the trailer so that the 2" king pin will engage fully into the hitch head and actuate the lock jaw. The jaw will have pivoted around the king pin into the closed position. 4a. Look at the pointer located on the forward surface of the hitch head assembly. When it is exposed and visible, beyond the housing, the king pin is fully seated. 4b. Look at the jaw to be certain it is closed and that the handle is in as far as it will go. Pivot the locking bracket down into groove in handle. Insert the safety pin through holes in bracket, handle and tab below handle. Lock in place. See Illustrations below. Failure to follow these procedures could result in the hitch coming open and dropping trailer. 5. Connect the wiring harness from the trailer to the truck. Be sure that all cables are routed in such a way that they can not become tangled with hitch assembly. Check trailer brakes and lights for correct operation. DO NOT raise the trailer jacks at this time. 6. With trailer jacks still down, apply trailer brakes alone and try to slowly pull forward with truck. This will double check that the king pin is locked into the 5th wheel assembly. The trailer brakes should keep the truck from moving forward if the hitch is locked correctly. Double check this operation. 7. Raise the trailer jacks to their retracted storage position. Remove the blocks from the front and rear of the trailer wheels. 8. Check between the bottom of the trailer overhang and the top of the truck bed for adequate clearance. Should be approximately 6". TRAILER DISCONNECT INSTRUCTIONS 1. Block the front and rear of the trailer wheels. Disconnect the wiring harness from the truck. 2. Set the trailer jacks so that most, but not all, of the trailer load is off the hitch. 3. Remove the safety pin from the locking bracket and handle on the hitch head assembly. Pull the handle out and forward until it drops into the notch. This locks the jaw into the open position. 4. Drive the truck slowly forward and out from under the trailer. 5. Reset handle into the closed position.

SERVICE AND MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS Lubricate all points on 5th wheel assembly as noted on illustrations below. Use heavy wheel bearing grease at all locations. Keep internal jaw locking parts in head assembly well lubricated with a heavy wheel bearing grease for continued smooth operation. The latch handle should be lubricated so that it will continue to move smoothly and easily. All remaining pivot points on hitch assembly should be lubricated with heavy wheel bearing grease to prevent excessive wear Check for tightness of all assembly bolts. Re-tighten if necessary. Tighten 1/2-13 bolts to 75 ft. lbs. torque and 3/4-10 bolts to 260 ft. lbs. torque.

*Periodically check the moving parts inside the head assembly. If any one of them shows wear or damage, it should be replaced. Follow the illustrations below to replace parts in the head assembly.
