In this section the actuator parts are identified with the numbers indicated in the following figure, which shows the components. 5 8.5.5 Disassembling the ctuator N4508M02 Series neumatic Danger by neumatic ersonal injury can result from connecting or disconnecting pneumatic hoses. neumatic works must be carried out by qualified persons. 1) lose the valve pin gate so that the piston (1.2) is in bottom position. 2) Remove the pneumatic hoses from the actuator connection ports. 3) Remove the socket head cap screws (4). Doc png 4) Slide the cylinder in the direction of hydraulic connections (a). NOIE his will disengage the actuator from the valve pin. he movement does not depend on the direction of connections for coolant distribution (b). 6 5) Remove the actuator housing (1.1) from the cooling plate (2). 6) Loosen the socket set screw (1.7). 7) Remove the brake shoe (1.8) Doc png 8) Using the assembly aid (6), unscrew the retaining ring (1.4) and the adjusting screw (1.3) out of the actuator housing (1.1). Doc png 9) Screw the fitting nut (9) into the actuator housing (1.1). 10) Install a valve pin (V) so it engages into the slots of the piston (1.2). 11) ull the piston (1.2) with the valve pin (V) while turning the fitting nut (9) until the piston (1.2) is released. 12) Dismount the two piston seal (1.6.1) elements. 7 Disassembling the djustment Screw ssembly 1) Unscrew the retaining ring (1.4) from the adjustment screw (1.3) using the assembly aid (6). 8 8.5.6 ssembling the ctuator N4508M02 Series Lubrication of iston and Ring Seals NOIE For lubrication use Krytox GL205. o Lubricate the piston sliding surface is essential for the actuator life time. Doc png o Lubricate the piston ring seals is helpful to assemble the actuator. Doc png Installing the iston Seal o mount the piston seal (1.6.1) on the piston proceed as follows: 1) Fit the mounting cone (2) on the piston (1.2). NOIE fter disassembly of the sealing elements, the original seals should be replaced. 2) Lubricate the two elements of the piston seal (1.6.1). O-ring (1.6.1) (a) Sealing element (1.6.1) (b) 3) Mount the O-ring (1.6.1) (a) into the seal groove of the piston (1.2). 4) Using the spreader sleeve (1) and the mounting cone (2), push the sealing element (1.6.1) (b) into the seal groove of the piston (1.2). NOIE he sealing element (1.6.1) (b) is placed in the seal grove of the piston (1.2) above the O-ring (1.6.1) (a). 9 5) Insert the piston (1.2) uniformly in the calibration sleeve (3). NOIE his will precisely align the piston seal (1.6.1) with the piston (1.2). Doc png Installing the djustment Screw ssembly Follow these steps to install the adjustment screw assembly into the actuator housing. NOIE fter disassembly of the sealing elements, the original seals should be replaced. 1) Lubricate the rod seal (1.6.2). 2) Insert the rod seal (1.6.2) inside the adjustment screw (1.3), open side inside. Doc png 3) Screw the retaining ring (1.4) in the adjustment screw (1.3), hand-tight. 10 4) Using the assembly aid (6) to fasten the retaining ring (1.4) in the adjustment screw (1.3). Doc png NOIE fter disassembly of the sealing elements, the original seals should be replaced. 5) Lubricate the guiding element (1.6.3) and the O-ring (1.6.4). 6) Insert the guiding element (1.6.3) inside the adjustment screw (1.3). 7) ull the O-ring (1.6.4) over the adjustment screw (1.3) and place it in the prepared groove. 11 NOIE During mounting the piston (1.2), it is important the piston is not jammed in the actuator housing (1.1). 3) Install the piston (1.2) while turning clockwise the fitting nut (9) into the actuator housing (1.1) up to the stop. 4) Use the piston tool (8) to ensure the position pin (1.5) align into the piston. Doc png 5) Lubricate the seals. (1.6.2) Rod seal (1.6.3) Guiding element (1.6.4) O-ring seal Doc png 6) By using the assembly tool (6) screw the prepared adjustment screw assembly (1.3) (1.4) into the actuator housing (1.1). Doc png 7) Rotate until the face of the adjustment screw assembly (1.3) (1.4) is screwed 1 mm deep inside the actuator housing (1.1). NOIE Desired position of the adjustment screw assembly (1.3) (1.4) in actuator housing (1.1). 12 8) Fix the adjustment screw assembly (1.3) (1.4) with the socket set screw (1.7) via the brake shoe (1.8) in the actuator housing (1.1) firmly. NOIE Use a torque wrench for a torque of 10 Nm (7.5 ft-lbs) Mounting of the ctuator on the Manifold Doc png Insertion of valve pin head into piston cut-out. NOIE Do not use the cylinder housing as support to get the system into the mold (no hammering e.g.). his sign refers to the direction of valve pin release. 1) Slide the actuator so it engages the pin head slots (1.2). 2) lace the actuator on the cooling plate (2). 3) Move the actuator so that the valve pin head slides in the final position inside the piston (1.2) cut-out. 13 4) Lubricate the thread of the socket head cap screws (4) with hightemperature assembly paste (anti-seize compound). NOIE his is an important measure to prevent thread corrosion due to aggressive gases, which could be released during plastics processing. 5) Screw the actuator with the socket head cap screws (4). NOIE ighten the socket head cap screws (4) in an X pattern (a, d, c, b). Use torque wrench with wrench insert and the torque specified in the respective table in section 13.
