Unscrew 2 Torx screws M6 x 14 at the front of the cylinder head cover Wire harness holder and push wire harness holder aside. See Fig 1.

Unscrew the two M6 hexagon socket head bolts Hexagon socket head bolts of the top engine wire harness holder at the control side and push the holder aside slightly. See Fig Unscrew all 9 fastening screws and 2 fastening nuts on the cylinder head cover Cylinder head cover (valve cover). Lift off cylinder head cover and set it down on a clean surface. See Fig 3.

7 Page 7 of INSTALLING CYLINDER HEAD COVER (VALVE COVER) - AS OF MY 2004 (CAYENNE TIP, CAYENNE MAN) > INSTALLING CYLINDER HEAD COVER NOTE: The seals on the ignition coil slots have a twist lock. These must be inserted into the corresponding cutout on the cylinder head cover. 1. Replace all seals of the cylinder head cover (one cover gasket and six recess seals) and fit them in the correct position. NOTE: The cylinder head cover must be tightened evenly in a clockwise direction! The sealing rings of the M6 fastening screws with distance sleeve must be checked for damage and replaced if necessary! 2. Position cylinder head cover on the cylinder head and fit all 9 fastening screws and 2 fastening nuts on the cylinder head cover Cylinder head cover (valve cover). Tighten all fastening elements uniformly in clockwise direction. Tightening torque: 10 (7.5 ftlb.) Nm See Fig 1.

9 Page 9 of 9 3. Fit holder for engine wire harness on control side. Position the two M6 hexagon socket head bolts -arrows- of the holder for the control side engine wire harness and tighten. Tightening torque: 10 (7.5 ftlb.) Nm See Fig 2. Fig 3: Front wire harness holder 4. Position 2 Torx screws on the front of the cylinder head cover -arrows- and tighten the holder for the wire harness. Tightening torque: 10 (7.5 ftlb.) Refer to Removing and installing ignition coils - as of MY 2004 (Cayenne TIP, Cayenne MAN). 2. Install intake-air distributor. Refer to Removing and installing intake-air distributor - as of MY 2004 (Cayenne TIP, Cayenne MAN). 3. Mount engine compartment covers. Refer to Removing and installing front cover (engine compartment) - as of MY 2003 (All Models).
