4 Before you start 1. Make a drawing of your system application 2. Select your inputs and outputs - and write down what you have chosen 3. Configure the controller How to use these instructions These instructions describe how the Danfoss district heating controller ECL Apex 10 is set up. Heating system example In this user guide we describe the setup by means of an example comprising a weather compensated heating circuit and a domestic hot-water (DHW) circuit. Please note that the system diagrams in this instruction are principle drawings and they do not contain all components that are necessary in your system. 2 VI.JE.M1.02 Danfoss 11/2004 DH-SMT
5 Fig. 1: Heating system example used in this user guide The heating supply is provided with a strainer and a differential pressure switch / filter guard (DI1), as well as sensors to monitor primary temperature (ST2) and pressure (SP1). The heating circuit consists of a motorized control valve (M1), a heat exchanger with flow (ST3) and return (ST4) temperature sensors, two sequentially controlled pumps (P1 and P2) with flow (SP2) and return (SP3) pressure transmitters. The heating circuit as such is weather compensated by means of the outdoor temperature sensor (ST1). The DHW comprises a motorized control valve (M2), a heat exchanger with flow (ST5) and return (ST6) temperature sensors, one set of twin-pump controlled pumps (P3 and P4) supervised by a differential pressure switch (DI2). 6 Mounting and wiring Mounting of an analog output extension module 1. Disconnect the ECL Apex 10 from the mains supply. 2. Remove the processing unit from the base part by pressing in the plates on both sides. 3. Mount the extension module in the base part. 4. Remount the processing unit on the base part. 4 VI.JE.M1.02 Danfoss 11/2004 DH-SMT
7 Mounting of an additional I/O module 1. Move the protective cap from the ECL Apex 10 to the I/O module. Remove the protective cap from the connection plug on the right-hand side of the base part. Place the cap on the connection plug of the I/O module, which is to be mounted on the far righthand side of the array. 2. Assemble the I/O module and the ECL Apex 10.
