Introduction To limit the list of parameters in this document, only parameters considered to be of use to bodybuilders are described. For full details of the current parameters for a specific vehicle, please contact an authorised Scania workshop. The parameters are stored in the vehicle's various control units and can be adjusted using SDP3 (Scania Diagnos & Programmer 3). Introduction This document is a comprehensive list. The parameters and settings that are available in a specific vehicle depend on the vehicle specification. Scania CV AB 2016, Sweden 1 (14)
SDP3 SDP3 has different access levels. Complete access level is normally used by Scania workshops to be able to troubleshoot, repair and adjust parameters. Introduction SDP3 for bodybuilders has a limited access level with less functionality that, for example, allows the bodybuilder to adjust parameters, read fault codes and carry out simpler troubleshooting. Parameters associated with Chassis are described in this document. Scania CV AB 2016, Sweden 2 (14)
Alternative vehicle level Alternative vehicle level front The vehicles can be equipped with the Alternative vehicle level function. An alternative vehicle level can be set according to the interval. The function is activated with a switch in the instrument panel. -85, -80, -60, -45, -30, 0, 20, 21, 30, 50, 65, 80, 100, 150, 200 mm Default setting: According to vehicle specification Alternative vehicle level rear The vehicles can be equipped with the Alternative vehicle level function. An alternative vehicle level can be set according to the interval. The function is activated with a switch in the instrument panel. -90, -60, -45, -30, 0, 30, 50, 65, 80, 100, 150, 180 mm Default setting: According to vehicle specification Emptied bellows Select if the emptied bellows vehicle level is to be with or without residual pressure. With Means that the bellows have a residual pressure even when the empty bellows function is activated. Without Means that the bellows will be without residual pressure when the empty bellows function is activated. Default setting: Without Scania CV AB 2016, Sweden 3 (14)
Vehicle level after emptied bellows Here you select to which vehicle level ELC will regulate when the empty bellows function is cancelled. Return to starting level Maintain current vehicle level Default setting: Return to starting level Scania CV AB 2016, Sweden 4 (14)
Bogie functions Type of axle weight distribution Here you set the type of axle weight distribution that will apply for the bogie. Pressure ratio Means that the ratio for how the bogie weight is distributed is constant irrespective of the weight of the vehicle's cargo. The ratio for how the weight is distributed on each axle is set using the Pressure distribution between rear axles parameter. Optimal traction Means that the bogie weight is primarily distributed to the half shaft 1. The tag axle remains in the raised position until maximum axle weight on the driving axle is reached according to the Distribution of bogie weight parameter. 2. When the maximum axle weight on the driving axle is reached, the tag axle is lowered and is allocated approx. 2 tons weight. 3. The tag axle retains 2 tons weight until the maximum axle weight on the driving axle has been reached again. 4. When the maximum axle weight on the driving axle is reached again, the additional weight is distributed to the tag axle. 5. When maximum weight is reached for both driving axle and tag axle, the additional weight is distributed according to the ratio in the "Weight distribution between rear axles" parameter. The Optimal traction option can, with certain weight distributions on the vehicle, lead to the front axle being overloaded. Carry out a control calculation for the vehicle concerned using BUC (Build Up Calculation Program). Scania CV AB 2016, Sweden 5 (14)
The parameter must be adjusted in both SMS and COO for the change to take place. Weight distribution between rear axles Here you set the weight distribution between the rear axles (the selection is shown in tons). The distribution of axle weight is regulated by legal requirements in each country. Maximum permitted rear axle weight during load transfer The maximum permitted rear axle weight for load transfer can be set according to the interval. This is where the maximum permitted rear axle weight during the load transfer phase is entered. When complete load transfer is requested, the rear axle will be loaded to the value that is entered here. Additional weight will load the tag axle. Unlimited load transfer should only be selected in exceptional cases, as the risk of damage to the rear axle and axle gear increases considerably , 10500, 11500, 13000, 13600, 14900, or Unlimited Type of optimal traction Here you set the type of optimal traction that will apply for the tri-axle bogie. Optimal traction for tri-axle bogie; the option means that the bogie weight is primarily distributed from the tag axle to both the driving axles. Both the driving axles are loaded equally until the tag axle can be raised, then the bogie weight is distributed from the second to the first driving axle. Scania CV AB 2016, Sweden 6 (14)
The axle weight distribution is done according to the description until the maximum weight on the driving axles is reached. Optimal traction; the option means that the bogie weight is primarily distributed from the tag axle to the first driving axle. The first driving axle is loaded until the tag axle can be raised, then the bogie weight is distributed from the second to the first driving axle. The axle weight distribution is done according to the description until the maximum weight on the first driving axle is reached. Temporary raising of vehicle level during load transfer The vehicle can be configured for a higher vehicle level when activating load transfer. The vehicle returns to the value set in the parameter Raised vehicle level during load transfer after termination of temporary raising. 0 mm 30 mm 60mm Raised vehicle level during load transfer Raised vehicle level during load transfer can be configured according to the interval. Here you select if the vehicle is to have a raised vehicle level during load transfer and how high that level should be. 0 mm Scania CV AB 2016, Sweden 7 (14)
20 mm 45 mm 65 mm Explanation: If 0 mm is selected, this effectively means without lift. This parameter should not have a higher value that the value set in the parameter Raised vehicle level with tag axle raised. Tag axle lift during load transfer Here you select whether or not the tag axle will be raised automatically during load transfer. With Means that the tag axle will be raised automatically during load transfer. Without Means that the tag axle will only be raised when the raise button is pressed. However, it will not be possible to raise the tag axle if the rear axle's maximum weight exceeds the value set with parameter Maximum permitted rear axle weight during tag axle lift. Raised vehicle level with tag axle raised Raised vehicle level with tag axle raised can be configured according to the interval. Here you select if the vehicle is to have a raised vehicle level with raised tag axle and how high that level should be. If 0 mm is selected, this effectively means Without lift. The 65 mm selection means that the highest permitted vehicle level has been selected. 0 mm 15 mm Scania CV AB 2016, Sweden 8 (14)
30 mm 45 mm 65 mm If you select a Raised vehicle level with tag axle raised that is lower than the Scania standard, there is a risk that the tag axle wheels will hit the ground when driving. Maximum permitted rear axle weight during tag axle lift The maximum permitted rear axle weight during tag axle lift can be set according to the interval. This is where the maximum permitted rear axle weight is entered. If the vehicle is equipped with a tag axle, this will also be the limit at which the tag axle will be lowered automatically. In certain countries, legal requirements dictate that the tag axle must be lowered at 60% of the total permitted axle weight. The unlimited option should only be used in exceptional circumstances, as it entails a risk of damage to the rear axle and axle gear. 3000, 6000, 6300, 6500, 6900, 7800, 8500, 9500, 9900, 10000, 10500, 11500, 13000, 13600, 14900, or Unlimited Automatic lowering of tag axle when rear axle overloaded Here you select if the tag axle is to be lowered automatically or not when the rear axle is overloaded. With Means that the tag axle will be lowered when the load set with the parameter Maximum permitted rear axle weight during tag axle lift has been reached. Without Means that the tag axle will only be lowered when the lowering button is pressed. However, it will not be possible to raise the tag axle again if the rear Scania CV AB 2016, Sweden 9 (14)
axle's maximum weight exceeds the value set with the parameter Maximum permitted rear axle weight during tag axle lift. Default setting: With The setting of this function depends on legal requirements which vary from one country to another. Scania CV AB 2016, Sweden 10 (14)
Automatic level regulation Vehicle level when starter key voltage turned on Here you select the level the vehicle will get when the starter key voltage is switched on. Previous vehicle level With this choice the vehicle automatically regulates to the vehicle level it had when the starter key voltage was switched off. Normal vehicle level With this choice the vehicle automatically regulates to normal vehicle level. Actual vehicle level With this choice the vehicle maintains the level present when the starter key voltage is switched on. Alternative vehicle level With this choice the vehicle automatically regulates to the alternative vehicle level. Default setting: Previous vehicle level Time for the standby function Here you select for how long the Standby function is to be active. 15 min. 30 min. 59 min. Default setting: According to vehicle specification The parameter must be adjusted in both SMS and COO for the change to take place. Speed limit for quick control The speed limit for quick control can be set according to the interval. Normally, quick control is used on a stationary vehicle. When the control unit receives a signal Scania CV AB 2016, Sweden 11 (14)
that the vehicle has a speed of at least 1 km/h the system changes to controlling the vehicle level at longer time intervals (slow control). Using the Speed limit for quick control parameter, the speed up to the level where quick control is active can be set. For vehicles where the load changes while driving, for example when laying asphalt, salting, sanding and watering, it is advisable to change quick control to be active up to 15, 30, 50 or 100 km/h depending on which transport task is relevant. 0 km/h 15 km/h 30 km/h 50 km/h 100 km/h Default setting: According to vehicle specification If the limit for quick control is raised it leads to higher air consumption, which in turn increases the wear on the compressor and APS unit. The number of activations for valve blocks also increases, resulting in faster wear. Scania CV AB 2016, Sweden 12 (14)
Manual level regulation Selecting the lowest vehicle level Here you select if the lowest vehicle level is to be the calibrated lowest vehicle level or the bump stops. To lowest vehicle level Means that the vehicle at manual control reaches the calibrated lowest level at the lowest. To bump stops Means that the vehicle at manual control reaches the bump stops at the lowest. Default setting: To bump stops Permitted maximum difference in level, front/rear For full air suspension vehicles it is possible to change the maximum permitted level difference between the front and rear axles at manual control of the vehicle level. The value set is the total value between the front and rear axles. 10 mm 20 mm 30 mm 150 mm Default setting: According to vehicle specification Scania CV AB 2016, Sweden 13 (14)
Retrofitting Automatic release of the parking brake Here you select if the vehicle is to be with or without automatic parking brake on the front axle. With. Without. Default setting: According to vehicle specification Scania CV AB 2016, Sweden 14 (14)
