4 4 The self-propelled sprayer is capable for spraying of field crops with a maximum height of 160 cm, it is driven by a Perkins engine. A Sauer made hydraulic pump delivers the oil to the hydromotors, that move the wheels and operate the spraying pump. The driving speed can be adjusted continuously, the track width can be set mechanically in stages. Fig.3: All wheel steering The operation of the machine can be done from the driver s cabin, that is equipped with panorama glass and placed in the front side of the pneumatic suspended chassis. Fig.2: Setting of track width The all wheel steered machine rolls on tyres. It is mounted with brake and lighting equipment that are needed for driving it on public roads. Fig.4: Driver s cabin

The inner cleaning of the main tank can be done by a cleaning device. According to the agrotechnical requirements, the machine is equipped with rinsing water and clean water tanks. Fig.6: Spray tank In the filling hole there is a strainer to catch the coarse contaminants. The suction connection placed on the bottom of the spray tank helps the total discharging. The homogenity of the spray mixture is ensured by a hydraulic circulation agitator (two injectors and Fig.7: Rinsing water tank The machine is available with spray tanks of nominal volume 2000, 3000 and 4200 dm 3. The filling level of the tank can be seen on a hydraulic tank contents indicator (front) with a float. The main parts of the spraying system are the followings: the pump, the filters, the self-suction and the pressure adjustment device, the switching equipments and the distribution system.

6 6 Fig.10: Induction hopper combinated cleaning device for product cans Fig.8: Tank contents indicator (front) Fig.9: Pump, suction and central filters For making spray liquid an induction hopper combinated with a cleaning device for product cans is available on the side of the machine, it can be folded to the ground level. The spraying mixture can be filled into a funnelshaped tank from where the pump delivered fluid washes it in into the spray tank with the help of an injector. The inwashing can be facilitated with a hand operated spray gun, the injector can be adjusted. During spraying the pump delivers the fluid from the spray tank through the suction filter to the pressure adjustment and switching devices. The redundant fluid flows back to the tank through the backflow line. The machine can be produced with pump that have 210, 260 and 300 dm 3 /min nominal capacity.

7 The operation and the controlling is done by a Müller Elektronik ECO- Terminal volume/hectare adjustment device. Fig.11-1: Volume/hectare adjustment device. 7 furthermore the boom or the section(s) of it can be switched on/off from the driver s seat. The washing in of the chemicals, the cleaning of the PPP-cans furthermore the filling, the emptying and the rinsing of the spray tank can be done with the handling facilities mounted on the side of the machine. At the back of the chassis there is the double sectioned pole, on which the ball-type joint suspended and shock absorbed spray boom can be moved. The opening and closing and the height adjustment of the boom can be done by hydraulic power cylinders. The machine can be assembled with spray booms with 18, 24 and 27 m working width. 8 Fig.12-2: Spray boom The distribution system is circulating type, the spray liquid is circulated continuously in the spraying lines and hoses, the required pressure value is available right after the switching on. On the boom the spraying lines are mounted with bolt connections. On the spraying lines the adjutages are fixed by bolted joints 8 too, on which the spraying nozzles are equipped with spring-loaded, rubbermembrane, anti-dripping valves. The flat fan spray tips that are fixed in the spraying nozzles with bayonet caps atomize and dose the spray liquid. The machine can be produced in an air-bag type. The hydraulic driven axial fan delivers air into the airbags placed above the spraying nozzles and the air comes out through the holes in the lower side of the airbags, delivering the droplets and decreasing the drift.

12 Explanation on testing 12 Testing takes place according to a procedure which was developed by the competent testing authorities of the European countries participating in ENTAM. This procedure is based on the CEN standard EN Agricultural and forestry machinery Plant protection equipment for the application of plant protection products and liquid fertilisers. The tests were conducted according to the Technical Instructions (TI) for ENTAM-Tests of Field Crop Sprayers (Rel. 3 & Rel 4 -draft-). This test is only a technical performance test which takes place without an accompanying field test. The test results apply only to the tested appurtenances of the sprayer. Statements on the behaviour of the sprayer with different appurtenances cannot be derived from these results.
