3 Your requirements - our expertise As one of the leadin lobal manufacturers and solutions providers of drive technoloy, WEG s aim was to expand its extensive rane of products by ear units produced in its own facilities. Perfect coordination of products throuhout the drive train has put WEG in a position to offer customers even more superior and efficient solutions. Under the leadership of Watt Drive, the challene was to develop a proram which not only meets the current demands of the market, but also satisfied WEG s hih quality requirements. The Group s own centre of excellence for eared motors in Austria, part of the WEG Group since 2011, can draw on more than 40 years of experience in development, production and sales of ear units and eared motors. In order to satisfy the requirements of state-of-the-art eared motors the followin market requirements were taken into account durin the development phase: Standard mountin dimensions For users, the aim was to make the new rane of eared motors as easy and effortless to use as possible. To ensure installation in an existin system or production line worked effortlessly without incurrin unnecessary costs for conversions, the developers decided to adapt the mountin dimensions of the new ear units to products already established on the market. The objective: worldwide, easy and cost-effective interchaneability. Torque transmission The ear units needed to be compact, efficient, robust and reliable. In order to achieve this oal a transmission had to be desined which allows lare ratio ranes in a two-stae model while bein able to interate easily into the new desin ear housin. Efficiency Enery efficiency has always been of paramount importance to WEG. The aim here was to live up to this demand when desinin the new WG20 eared motors. This requires the perfect interaction of sophisticated technoloy and exclusive use of hih quality components. Worldwide use To meet the requirements of lobal mechanical and plant enineerin, it was vital that the new eared motors can be used worldwide, whilst maintainin a hih level of flexibility for applications. 4 WG20 - a new eneration of eared motors WG20 is the first eared motor rane to be completely developed in-house at WEG. It comprises helical, parallel shaft and helical bevel ear units with torques between 50 and 1550 Nm. Already the two-stae units excel with their lare ratio rane, as well as bein exceptionally efficient thanks to the sophisticated desin. The liht aluminium housins of the ear units up to 600 Nm and the robust cast iron housins from 800 Nm provide a hihly versatile and reliable product, with a wide rane of possible applications. Hihly efficient The ear units are two-stae desins featurin a lare ratio rane, which in turn makes them hihly efficient. Furthermore, the products of the WG20 series demonstrate only extremely low power losses. On the one hand, this is achieved by low circumferential speeds in the input stae and, on the other hand, by reducin splashin losses due to optimised amounts of lubricant. These characteristics also have a positive effect on the ear lifetime. Under normal conditions of use, the eared motors up to 600 Nm are maintenance-free and lubricated for life. In line with market requirements For maximum user convenience, the housin of the new earbox series has been desined in keepin with market requirements. The crucial mountin dimensions of the desin correspond with the specifications already established on the market which allows for direct exchane. This means that WG20 eared motors are not only suitable for use in new applications, but can also be easily interated into existin systems as a replacement or for optimisation purposes. 4 WG20 Geared Motors

5 Optimised desin When desinin the new ear unit rane, the desiners paid particular attention to develop a robust housin, optin for a liht aluminium construction for the frame sizes up to 600 Nm. The die castin process used in production not only benefits from a smooth surface for demandin hyienic applications, but also features excellent heat conductivity. The housin desin additionally enhances this property. The intelliently desined surface encouraes heat dissipation from the internal ear parts, thereby aidin more efficient operation and a loner life. The housins for frame sizes from 800 Nm are fabricated in MONOBLOC desin and made of cast iron, makin them especially sturdy and torsionally stiff. Gear teeth eometry has also been refined. Calculations applyin the finite element method have optimised ear teeth safety, especially in the tooth base area. Hih quality standards in the ear wheel production process not only ensure a sound and smooth operation, but also increased durability. The overall compact desin also affects the amount of lubricant used, helpin to conserve resources when handlin raw materials. Due to the arranement of earin units and optimised housin interior, only low levels of oil are necessary in the ear unit. WEG has also achieved improvements on the input side. The end shields and terminal box of motors up to frame size 132 are now made of liht aluminium which considerably reduces the weiht of the eared motor. For frame sizes 160 and 180 cast iron motors are used which are based on the latest W22 motor technoloy. Furthermore, the terminal box dimensions have been chaned for ease of access. Less noise The WG20 series ear units are characterised by their smooth, quiet operation. Hih quality components, which oriinate almost exclusively from in-house production, enae perfectly to provide the basis for uaranteed low noise operation. Even the flexible ear wheel construction helps reduce noise emission. The small motor pinion allows for lower circumferential speeds in the first stae and reduced noise emissions. 6 Helical eared motors C The helical ear units come in seven housin sizes for nominal torques from 50 to 1550 Nm and are available in both foot and flane desins. While the two smaller ear units (C00 and C01) are able to perform to their full potential with just two staes, the larer C03 to C08 are available in both two and three-stae versions, for those applications in hiher torque ranes. 8 Parallel shaft eared motors F Thanks to their structural desin, parallel shaft ear units are particularly suitable for conveyor technoloy applications. All six sizes can be fitted with either a hollow shaft, output shaft, mountin flane or shrink disc. The ratio rane of ear unit sizes F04 to F07 can be extended by a third ear stae. 10 Helical bevel eared motors K Helical bevel ear units are suitable for a multitude of applications. The two-stae basic desin is extended by a third ear stae upward of 200 Nm. K ear units can also be equipped with a hollow shaft, output shaft, shrink disc, torque arm and mountin flane. 12 Aluminium modular interal motor The latest eneration of WEG aluminium motors up to frame size 132 excels due to the userfriendly desin to efficiency class IE3 and the reliable quality in various industrial sectors. The optimised desin of the end shields and aluminium terminal box also results in a crucial reduction in weiht. Thanks to the special wide-rane windin and nine-bolt terminal block, flexible use anywhere in the world is uaranteed. 13 Cast iron modular interal motor The newly developed interal motors in frame sizes 160 and 180 are members of the latest eneration of the W22 motor family. Due to their innovative desin, these motors uarantee maximum value to the user and perform with hihest efficiency and reliability throuhout their extraordinarily lon motor lifetime. The three-phase motors with power output of 11 to 22 kw are available up to enery efficiency class IE4, they can be mains operated and are certified for use in all important markets worldwide.
