4 The DWB and DWA circuit-breakers were developed to protect electrical circuits, enerators and motors in a wide rane of rated currents from 6 to 6 A. Both ranes comply with IEC697- standard. The Riht Circuit-Breaker for your Application For power distribution and electric circuits the circuit-breakers DWB_D up to A and DWA up to 6 A ensure overload and short-circuit protections throuh thermal and manetic releases, respectively. DWB_M and DWM circuit-breakers are desined to protect motor branch circuit aainst short-circuits, therefore, these circuit-breakers trip units have manetic releases only. Moreover, they are set in order to avoid the motor trippin durin the acceleration time of the motor, when the motor current oes up to times the motor rated current. These circuit-breakers are used in three-component starters alon with the contactor as switchin device and the overload relay for overcurrent protection. In enerator applications, DWB_G and DWG circuit-breakers are applied to protect enerators and, then, avoid any risks due to short-circuit and overload situations. Their trip units are comprised of thermal and manetic releases especially desined to meet the specific requirements of low fault levels when protectin a enerator. Finally, IWB and IWA switch-disconnectors are applied to switch on and off electrical circuits under normal conditions, this way, these devices are not intended for protection as they do not have trip units. Protectin and Disconnectin in Frames The new DWB circuit-breakers are very compact savin space in electrical panels. Its rated current oes from 6 to A in frame sizes: DWB6 - currents from 6 to 6 A DWB - currents from to A In applications above A, DWA circuit-breakers complement the solution providin protection up to 6 A. 5 Flexibility The WEG DWB rane offers full flexibility for customers when fittin the internal accessories, because they are common for frames 6 and. Easiness for Replacement Throuh the transparent front cover of DWB circuit-breakers, it can be easily identified which accessories are installed. Double Insulation Oriented to provide safe solutions to electricians, WEG circuit-breakers have double insulation between live parts and the front of the equipment, except terminals. Besides that, internal accessories were desined to be completely separate from the power circuit, this way avoidin any risk of contact to live parts. 12 Internal Accessories Auxiliary Contact and Alarm Contact Blocks The auxiliary contact and alarm blocks have the function to sinal remotely the status of circuit-breaker s power contacts. There are types of contact blocks available: BC Auxiliary Contact Indicates the main contacts status open/closed (ON/OFF) throuh a chaneover contact ( SPDT). AL Alarm Contact Block Indicates circuit-breaker s trip due to overload or shortcircuit condition throuh a chaneover contact (SPDT). BCAL Ensemble comprised of a contact auxiliary contact block + alarm contact block. The BCAL block makes both functions described above. 13 Internal Accessories Shunt and Under Voltae Releases Voltae releases function to trip remotely the circuit-breaker. They are often used for remote emerency stop purpose. BD Shunt Release When enerized by a pulse or maintained sinal of voltae, the shunt release trips the circuit-breaker (trip position).
