33 Even turning and fast temperature rise The advantages of compost - reduction in the manure volume up to 50%, giving a large reduction in spreading costs - deodorised manure - rapid transformation of manure composition (spreading more accurate and even, suitable for large widths) - use of compost on grassland and cover on cereals - limited leaching - concentration of minerals - no depressive effect on starting crop growth (no plant toxicity and land not dug) - a technique which does not involve any extra cost compared to the traditional method (in time and money) - destruction of weeds by temperature rise Making good compost example : cattle manure - straw spreading at about 6/7 kg/day/ animal minimum - after turning, the temperature must rise to 60 - the second turning takes place when the temperature goes down below 50, i.e. 8 to 10 days after the first treatment - generally, for agricultural use, two turns are sufficient and you will obtain your compost 40 days after the first pass - good straw spreading will guarantee good results Setting the turner up - arrival of the material.
