1 Replace brake pads and discs - front * (Volkswagen Sharan 2010-Present) *Caution! This instructions are created by random users and must be used as a reference only! Please, take all safety precautions, and if you're not sure - don't act! Administration will not accept any responsibility for damage to you or your vehicle after following these instructions bellow. Tools we need: Jack+stands or ramp, 17mm socket, 13mm socket or T45 torx, 17mm spanner (narrow), cable tie + scissors, 21mm socket with braking bar, T30 torx. Posted by: waway This is how we do it: Jack up front of the car and remove front wheels: - before jacking up brake wheel-bolts (17mm) loose for easier removal when the wheels are up - don't use jack on it's own - use stands and wheel chokers - be careful - brakes can be still hot - Page 1 of 12 -

2 Removing old brake pads: - disconnect brake pad sensor (normally it's only in one wheel) (see image 1 below) - using 13mm socket or T45 torx, at the same time holding 17mm nut (narrow spanner), remove caliper bolts (image 2) - wiggle caliper out and, without putting tension to the brake line (don't twist it too much either), tie it to the suspension spring (image 3) - using flat head screwdriver as a lever remove old brake pads *NOTE: Some types of brake pads can have springs that go inside caliper piston. Removing brake disc: - remove 2x21mm bolts that hold the caliper bracket (image 4) - use braking bar or extension, because they are tough (see tightening toques below) - remove bracket and clean it with metal brush - remove T30 bolt that holds brake disc (image 5) and remove old brake disc - if it's stuck give it a tap Fitting new brake disc: - clean new disc with brake cleaner - Page 2 of 12 -

3 - attach the disc with T30 bolt - make sure it finds its happy position (sits straight) - attach caliper bracket back to its place with 21mm bolts Fitting new brake pads: - fit new brake pads by squeezing springs on their ends and fitting them into the groves on the bracket - reconnect brake pad sensor - open brake fluid lid to release pressure and put some tissues around it in case of possible spillage (image 6). - on the caliper push the piston as far back as it goes - use caliper rewind tool or big pliers (image 7) - for perfection you should clean lubricate caliper pins (See Image 8 and video below). Lubricate with heat resisting grease, such as copper or silicone grease. *NOTE In the video below rewinding tool has a smaller diameter than piston, it shouldn't go inside piston, so we recommend to use something more suitable. Make sure you don't jam wire of the brake pad sensor! - detach caliper from suspension spring, put it back onto bracket, tighten up 13mm/T45 bolts + 17mm nuts - Page 3 of 12 -

4 Repeat same steps for the other wheel, then close brake fluid tank. Clean any spillages, because brake fluid is corrosive!!!!important!!! Before you go anywhere, pump up your brakes! Press brake pedal few times to create pressure in the pistons. And before you go test the brakes! Tightening torques: Caliper to bracket (13mm bolts) - 35Nm Bracket to hub (21mm bolts) - 190Nm T30 bolt that holds disc - 5Nm Here's YouTube video: And here is another quick video about lubricating pins: - Page 4 of 12 -
