1 FRONT & REAR DISC PADS CAUTION: When brake caliper is removed, DO NOT depress brake pedal, or piston will pop out. To determine which brake system vehicle is equipped with, see MODEL IDENTIFICATION. Removal & Installation (CLZ25VD & AD14VE Type) 1. Remove master cylinder reservoir cap. DO NOT let brake fluid reservoir overflow when pushing piston back. Remove lower sliding pin bolt (front caliper) or top sliding pin bolt (rear caliper). Pivot caliper off on remaining sliding bolt and hang caliper with wire. Remove pad retainers, shims and pads. See Fig. 1 and Fig. 2. Push piston in using a disc brake piston tool. The front inner pad and outer pad have pad-return mechanism on upper side of pad retainer. When installing pad, be sure to install pad return lever to pad wear sensor securely. See Fig To install, apply brake grease to back of pad and both sides of shim. Install inner shim to inner pad, and outer shim and outer shim cover to outer pad. Apply disc brake grease to pad contact surface on pad retainer, and install pad retainers and pads to torque member. 3. Install caliper assembly to torque member. Install sliding pin bolt, and tighten it to specified torque. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS. Check for brake drag. Perform road test to ensure proper brake operation. See BRAKE BURNISHING. age 1

Removal & Installation (OPB27VA & OPB13VB Type) To determine which brake system vehicle is equipped with, see MODEL IDENTIFICATION. 1. Remove master cylinder reservoir cap. DO NOT let brake fluid reservoir overflow when pushing piston back. Remove clips from pad pins. Remove pad pins while holding down cross spring. Remove cross spring. With pliers, remove pads. See Fig. 3 and Fig To install, apply brake grease to back of pads. Push piston in using a disc brake piston tool. Install pads (with wear sensor to outer side). Insert upper pad pin from inner cylinder side through pad hole and into outer cylinder side. Install cross spring onto top pad pin. 3. Press in cross spring while installing lower pad pin from inner cylinder side through pad hole and into outer cylinder side and secure cross spring. Insert clips in small hole at the end of pad pin. Check for brake drag. Perform road test to ensure proper brake operation. See BRAKE BURNISHING. Brake Burnishing

3 Perform brake burnishing procedure after replacing pads and/or refinishing or replacing rotors. Drive vehicle on straight smooth road at 31 mph (50 km/h). Using medium brake pedal effort, bring vehicle to a stop adjusting brake pedal effort so that stopping time equals 3-5 seconds. To cool brakes, maintain vehicle speed at 31 mph (50 km/h) between each braking procedure. Repeat 10 times or more to complete burnishing procedure. PARKING BRAKE SHOES Removal & Installation 1. Remove torque member mounting bolts. Suspend caliper assembly with wire. Release parking brake lever fully. Remove disc. If disc is difficult to remove, go to next step. If not, go to step Remove adjuster hole plug. Insert screwdriver through plug hole. Turn adjuster to increase clearance between brake shoe and disc. Fit 2 bolts in holes in disc, and tighten gradually and evenly to remove disc. 3. Remove shoe retainer, and remove spring by rotating shoes. See Fig. 10. Remove adjuster. Pull out toggle lever pin. Disconnect parking brake cable from toggle lever. Remove brake shoes. 4. To install, apply brake grease onto shoe contact areas. See Fig. 10. Attach 2 springs onto brake shoes. See Fig. 11. Shorten adjuster by rotating it. On left side adjuster, threaded end points toward front of vehicle. On right side adjuster, threaded end points toward rear of vehicle. Connect parking brake cable onto toggle lever. To install remaining parts, reverse removal procedure.
